Looks like a really great idea. But, I don't know why it costs $500+? The user interface technology is exactly the same at a satellite navigation system like a Garmin nuvi. It just has a different radio receiver on it than a nav system does. It doesn't seem like it should cost that much.
Why does one manufacturer have to follow the other one to the toilet? A DB which uses a zip code and submissions from ...somewhere. Why don't they just call it GIGO?
is the Rx signal clean with full quieting provided a strong signal is present? And is there a Bypass option to put your preferred database in there? Price estimate?
This product seems to address the "mystery" factor associated with new users and their freshly purchased scanner/receivers. The feedback from the various enthusiast sites (and technical journals) on the capabilities of this little SDR radio should be interesting. Icom,AOR,and others should take a good look at what (finally) appears to be a simpler approach to menu-driven interfaces. Thanks for the video,pgi.....and well done,Uniden.

Too much $ for a scanner that does not decode digital broadcasts...

@icom1020 I'd buy it over some "icom" as your handle suggests. It looks pretty damn good to me, and I've been into scanning for nearly 40 years.

OK, so it's nice for the newbies or those who don't want to do anything, just turn it on and have it work... but it's hardly a "serious" scanner.
