Near the end of her life, Judy retains the sweet, strong remnants of her once-overwhelming voice. And she remained a first-rate interpreter-entertainer to the last -- May God rest her soul:) --
Judy Garland made people happy and she still dose She had that problem it was forced on her it ain't like she wanted to become addicted!!!!!!! Judy listen I love you and since your music was always playing in my house when I was a kid I am going to see your Daughter in December in honor of you because you left us all so soon.R.I.P. Love always Barb...
she syncopates here with more sophistication then before - she's a singer who kept testing herself - she never just covered an earlier verision of herself
John Traherne was a doctor Mickey Deans found who would prescribe whatever Judy wanted. This was one reason Judy married Deans; he was able to ferret out drugs anywhere. What Dr. Pocock said was there was "no question of alcoholism" but through the following decades, this has been repeated as "no sign of alcoholism" or "no evidence of alcoholism," which is quite different. Around 1960 Dr. Philip LeBon diagnosed Judy with cirrhosis. Look closely at the bottom of the her costume; just bone.
@defundthewar Judy Garland chronic alcoholic and drug abuser and she was able to accomplish all that, mighty impressive I'm sure you would agree. Matter of fact, even more evidence that no one comes close to her greatness as an entertainer, thisdespite her persona tragedy. Thanks for your input!!
@tomkes100douchebag Of course, a great entertainer with decades of wonderful accomplishments. Where some people get confused is the non-professional side to her, but even that is an accomplishment, a testimony to Judy's great acting ability and story-telling talent.
Judy sounds great. Just goes to show when she had some rest she could come through. Too bad she had the financial troubles that kept her working when she needed rest. The orchestra behind her is fabulous.
Judy looked so frail toward the end. I watch her TV series on DVD and she looked so wonderful and when she had a few extra pounds on her, Judy always sang her best. Toward the end she was very frail but the Dr who tended to her said that she was dying and only had about 6 months left since she had that hepatitis and cirrohisis of the liver and was surprised she lived as long as she did. Judy was a rare talent she defied dr's orders and lived so much longer then her drs had thought. RIP Judy
@NFitalianGuy Don't be a dummy. That doctor saw Judy ONCE and sold his story to every newspaper willing to pay his price. Judy did NOT have cirrhosis of the liver. Dr. Derek Pocock, the coroner, said there "was no sign of chronic alcoholism, no cirrhosis of the liver, absolutely no sign of alcohol use of any kind." This man was not her regular doctor at the time. What's his name? I know, do you? Dr. Traherne. She was living on borrowed time. One look at her and and you could tell.
Poor Judy---she had so many ups and downs, no pun intended, and was drug-addicted since her teenage years, given drugs by her studio to keep her perky and alert and working long hours. Later, she was still addicted to those pills but to alcohol as well. Her poor body could only endure so much. She was her own worst enemy, but kept trying and trying. She never reached that rainbow she sang about. But we remember her for the great gift she left to us. What a sad loss....
@ja3399 i agree with youre comments but, judy was on perscribed drugs since the age 6,by her pushy mother.i recommend you read GET HAPPY..gerald clarke.a really good read
The same wonderful style and verve, but it is shocking and shameful that her costume is empty, all bone. This great lady needed help, needed looking after.
