I think I understand your confusion: "I frankly don't understand the argument, considering the opposite is windows, in which you don't have an .app you have a mess of folders and directories in program files."
Please re-read it. I was clearly comparing Mac's use of .app vs Windows use of folders and directories when saving programs. I only said program files to show where those folders are almost always placed, it was not part of the argument. Why would I compare a directory to an extension?
i have a 6 year old dell desktop. i upgraded the memory, video card, hard drive, and added windows 7. didn't cost me much and all and it still runs great. only problem is it doesn't run many game well. besides the older ones that were made when this computer was.
Eh.... I dont think that this is especially funny or clever. everyone had thought this kind of thing at one point and it's very simple. But good job. (y)
total BS. @snitch1996 actually... I do not remember when my PC froze the last time. I own an Aspire5742G + Windows 7, that one didn't freeze in it's lifetime (I only own it for 3 months so that isn't much to brag about) and the only times my old dell with Windows Vista would freeze was when I was trying to run a game too high specs on it (which in the end was quite a few since my old dell was 5 years old). So yeah, it doesn't freeze much ;)
You're so stupid that besides changing the original ad by changing it's voices on the "hello, i'm a ..." you forgot to erase a frame showing a Macintosh from the original ad before your final credits... go shoot yourself asshole!
:DDDDD mac commercials might be good for something. well you cant really choose sides because there are mac fans and there are pc fans. but still ive been using a pc for like 10 years and i didnt notice any problems but these commercials show problems pcs face like every day. I never had them.
Mac VS Pc, is all opinion... Except when it comes to buying. What I did, was get the €2,250 that a macbook cost. And bought the parts for 2 computers, so now I have A kickass gaming PC, and a kickass Mac. Not only that, but now I can say I built 2 computers for the price of your shitty macbook.
@DieChavScum what you did is illegal (read apple's ELUA). For anyone who wants to own a computer and still be a law abiding citizen thats not really an option... Apple products are much more expensive on Europe (compared to America) but were you live (Ireland) the apple web site is telling me a macbook costs €949.00. I think your exaggerating the price a bit aren't you?
€949.00 does happen to be a low price macbook. But when you buy a computer I think it's best to buy something that will last. And actualy, it's legal, I bought the OS seperately. MAC hardware and OS are good, but the retail price for buying a ready built MAC is horrible.
Its not legal. It doesn't matter that you paid for the OS separately. Before you actually install the OS it will make you accept the "ELUA" which states "you can only install this on mac hardware". This leads me to believe that you are lying about installing Mac OS X on a computer you built because bypassing the check the OS does to make sure its an apple computer is VERY tedious. I myself own an iMac (€1,399.00) and this computer will last for quite some time, its very well built.
Mac uses the same hardware as an intel pc. When I said "hardware" in my last post I really meant computer. I meant "you can only install this on a mac computer". You can have a computer with the exact same hardware the mac has but its still not an apple made computer and therefore you can't install Mac OS X on it legally. Also, in order to install the OS in a computer not made by mac, you have to patch the OS, this also violates the Millennium Copyright Act. Would you like a link with more info?
Well I se we've resorted to name calling... A mac pro consists of 3Gb of Samsung RAM, a Western Digital 640Gb Hard drive, a 2.66Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xenon Processor, etc. You can find this hardware on hundreds of different computers, both mac and Pc. You are obviously and imbecile who doesn't know what he's talking about.
You can't install the OS wherever you want, it must be an apple computer. You can trick it by patching the OS to make it believe its a mac, but that brakes the law, the DMCA..
@yiyopr1 yet, you can emulate a mac on a PC quite easily bypassing everything that apple did set up. However there's not much point. It runs slower and it's harder to manage. For instance every application you install goes to the applications folder, yet on Windows you can put it where you want.
@mirta000 You are completely incorrect. The fastest computers running Mac OS X are all Hackintoshs, I have a Hackintosh that is faster than the Mac Pro at nearly half the cost. It's a little harder to update but if youre in a line of work where you need a "Pro" type of machine it should be no problem. BTW you're not emulating you are running, plain and simple. Apps in windows go into an application folder in the C: drive, in Mac it is more versatile to manage apps, you can drop them anywhere too
@yiyopr1 I've been doing similar things running leopard and I've not seen any other way to install an app other than dragging it into applications on your primary drive. Also to get the operating system to even install you need to be emulating an environment that the operating system recognizes, this is also why you need processors capable of emulation in order to do it.
I really don't see anything better in Mac OS than windows but at least there are ways to run it without crappy mac hardware
@hildegain Apps are contained in .dmg files, once you open them you should drag the actual .app file to the applications folder, but it doesn't have to be that folder it could be any folder. I have most of my apps in a secondary drive which I have only for apps. I frankly don't understand the argument, considering the opposite is windows, in which you don't have an .app you have a mess of folders and directories in "program files".
@hildegain As for emulating, you have no idea on how installing Mac OS X on windows works. To do so all you need to do is replace the windows boot record with a boot manager that will recognize Mac OS X. You must also hack the Mac OS X boot image to install some kekts. That and have components that are Mac OS X compatible. You can emulate an environment using something like VMWare and install Mac OS X there, but it will be incredibly slow and crappy, and it is not a true install of Mac OS X.
@yiyopr1 I probably shouldn't have used the word boot manager as it does not accurately explain the process. I meant an "EFI", which tells the hacked copy of Mac OS X how to interact with the kext files and makes the computer actually boot into Mac OS X before installing it in the HDD. It is like the mac counterpart of a boot manager.
@mirta000 the fact that you think you can put Windows programs "anywhere you want" shows that you don't know much about Windows or Mac machines... I, on the other hand, am a freshman computer science major at MIT. Please, don't event try.
@yiyopr1 So you're saying you can only install programs to the program files folder on C drive? That makes you a total idiot. Don't even try that horseshit.
@hildegain I see you resorted to name calling, a sure sign that you are running out of arguments. Could you tell me where I said that programs can only be installed in the C: drive? Its C: btw, not C. I said that, by default, windows programs are installed in the "Program files" folder, which is in the root directory of the C: drive. You can choose to install them elsewhere, BUT if you install somewhere other than Program files, you lose the ability to select the program from all programs...
@yiyopr1 When you accuse someone else of idiocy you will get called an idiot.
You made the claim that you cannot place windows programs wherever you want, that would directly dictate that you mean they cannot be installed anywhere other than the program files folder.
Also, I'm running windows 7 and I have very few apps installed in the default directly and yet can select from all programs.
It also doesn't matter whether it's C or C: it still the same letter and meaning, pretty picky?
@hildegain there is a difference between "not knowing much about computers" (what I said) and being an idiot, what you said. I never called someone an idiot. Could you please copy/paste the exact comment I made where I said that windows programs cannot be installed wherever you want? The only one who made the(false) claim that you cant install mac programs anywhere you want is you. but please, copy/paste my comment, I'm dying to read it. C is a letter, C: is a drive letter, not the same meaning.
@hildegain What I find really funny is how you actually thought emulating Mac OS X is like an actual installation. There are many ways to install Mac OS X in PCs, emulation is the fool mans method. It is slow, crappy, and unimaginative. But please, lets divert the topic from the fact that you can't do anything but download a cracked copy of an OS from a torrent and only virtually install it. Lets focus on the important stuff, installing programs in directories other than the default ones. Yeah!
what is up with this mac and pc wars!!!!!!!!! just buy a comp that fits your need my opinion macs key boards always wis type for me im typing on one right now!!!! and pcs somtimes freeze up!!!
Looks like PC fanboys will have to migrate to another issue to pick on.
But you know what's really funny? ONE computer in Apple's lineup has ONE problem, and suddenly Apple is horse shit. But Windows, with it's numerous flaws and faults, is still God?
@DAltar hey, i made that comment over two years ago, wtf? also why are you mocking a dead man? he has made more of his life than your ever will make of yours, even with terminal cancer
lol. btw. runescape is rad and doesn't run on PCs. And btw losers. I have a pentium that runs linux on my browserspace. That's badass for $2,999. Any you dorks are bitching about MMos. which is for lame people. I bet you don't even have World of Warcraft 2 yet, bitch. I'm out.
isn't a "PC" actually an personal computer, mean as a Hardware with all the suff monitor/HDD/RAM all the thing u need... and THAN comes an OS operating system... MAC WIN LIN ect.??? and damn...isn't MAC based on UNIX???? and for example Ubuntu on LINUX???? than how can somebody compare a MAC with a PC????? when mac's are running on APPLE pc's?????????? than what are Hp's IBM's Apple's ect... OS??? it's only HARDWARE with a brand on it... I don't get it..
While "PC" IS an acronym for personal computer, when used as a reference to computers based on the original IBM "PC" it has no meaning. All personal computers are either clones of the IBM "PC", or Macs.
whoever said i play runescape fool? My account has dust in it coz i dont play anymore you fuckstick. And btw, computer games arent my life, im more of a social person than someone like you that prob plays crap games all the time.
This is like arguin' about which is better, an Armani suit or some Chinese copy. "Armani suits are made for people that have no knowledge on how to properly repair your clothes"?
Damned straight I can't afford a mac... for a mac that is below the spec of my pc it would cost £4900. My pc however cost me in the region of £1500. Also my pc has a soundcard and the mac doesn't, and my screen is bigger.
here the only pc that crashes are cheap cheap cheap computers like 200 bucks mine is 2000 bucks never crash and can run 50 programs at once my friends mac that is 1800 bucks has issues starting 2 programs and the video editor has less fetuares than mine love your pc get a dell they never crash
generally speaking mac is far more expensive than pc's that have the same specs. and macs are no compatible with numerous progams. which require you to get bootcamp and buy windows (roughly 300 dollars) which is hypocritical considering you buy a mac because you dont want to use windows and supposedly windows has viruses. i like games so ill buy a computer. not some pretty glorified photo-editor with a safari web browser.
when i bought my mac, i had the same equivalent memory, speeds, etc. basically the same and the pc cost about 200 more....of course i own both but love my mac :)
please explain? there is not a single thing i cannot do on a windows or linux box that a mac box can do, whereas i can think of alot of things that a mac box cant do that both of the others can do.
also this comparing Apple's operating system to IBM's HARDWARE ARCHITECTURE STANDARD has to stop, pick a PC OS and compare it to that.
As long as you arent screwing around with settings and stuff, both operating systems shouldnt crash. if you have hardware failures, then its the hardware's fault. crashing is hardly ever an issue, and is usually the users fault for installing something or changing something, that or a virus.
I've recently got a Mac Pro, it works perfectly, never crashes.
I've had a series of PCs in the past, and all of them have had to be reformatted and have Windows reinstalled at least once (due to either getting extremely slow, or viruses).
I have a 6 year old iBook G3 that has never crashed or needed to have it's operating system reinstalled. Meanwhile, I have a 10 month old PC and have already had two fatal errors that required me to completely reinstall it's operating system. Which one is the retarded computer now?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
ok, u fucking retard.. i have been usig my Imac for 2 years now and it has never had a random shutdown or had to reboot... so go stuff that down ure moms ass u cocksicle...
WTF, just coz apple rulez, we dnt get screwed up with viruses nd we invented the mouse, need i say more. Wt wld u b now if apple hadn't invented the mouse, bunch of retards
Apple didn't invent the mouse. Steve Jobs seen it and liked the idea. I forget who invented the mouse. I think it was xerox, or bell labs. I forgot, but it wasn't apple.
Apple developed it, d person who invented it worked for apple you fucking noob. Had u taken your head out of your arse in the last 20 years you would have known that
Look up patent number 3541541. It is the mouse which was invented in 1967. By D.C. Engelbart. Apple was around in '67. I could have called you a fucking noob, but I am better than you.
Steve Jobs saw the mouse at a Xerox lab. They invented it, but were throwing it away because "it had no future". Jobs and the rest of Apple saw how awesome it was and developed it further into the GUI (Graphical User Interface) in the first Macintosh computer.
Then, Microsoft stole the GUI idea from Apple and shipped Windows 3.1 (which sucked ass)
ilikeseaguks, get a fucking book, because you're startin' to sound like a fucking retard.... Stop giving Apple fans a bad name you prick!
Douglas Engelbart is given credit for the mouse, emails and helping start the internet.
In 1964, the first computer mouse was made to use with a graphical user interface (GUI), 'windows'. Engelbart received a patent for the wooden shell with two metal wheels (# 3,541,541) in 1970, describing it in the patent application as an "X-Y position indicator for a display system. It was called a mouse because the tail came out the end.
no where in my answer did I saw windows had anything to do with inventing the mouse, we are talking about 1970 here, way before apple, macs, windows or whatever was around.
The point of the answer is to show apple didnt invent the mouse, not to try to give credit to microsoft or windows when they had as much to do with it as apple did, none.
Yes,you are correct. There is a video of Douglas Englebart on YouTube. The "Mother of all Demos" is also on YouTube as well.He demonstrated 2 computers networked using the Mouse, video teleconferencing, hypertext,Windows (GUI element) back in Dec 1968 years before the Xerox Alto Workstation.
Yeah, thats the main reason im not going to touch apple products, i dont need to be insulted over what operating system i decide to use. at least microsoft doesnt have legions of rabid fans who attack anything anit MS. this commercial is like saying my house is better because a hurricane came and destroied yours, "haha". the same thing can happen to macs. also, whats with the MAC VS PC? macs are freaking PCs!
You're a dumbass. Mac's are PCs??? What the hell is wrong with you? We use two different terms for a reason you idiot, they are completely different machines that run in completely different ways.
I'm not insulting you over your OS (see my comment above), im insulting you because you're a shithead...
Ok, I get where you're coming from, but I hope you understand why there are two different names. Yes, it happens to be a computer that can be personal, but they're completely different machines!
So, Mac uses an "older person" to represent a PC. Hmmm, so they are using "age descrimination" to represent the obselete. ha ha, my mom in her 50's had an email address before I did.
This reminds me of that clip from family guy with the commercial for Mentos, and Peter (not understanding the commercial) decides to kill President Lincoln.
You are a douche. What the hell does that have anything to do with the ad???
Calling someone a name sort of discredits your opinion. Anyway to answer your question, advertisers use "subliminal" and often "stereotypical" images to get young consumers to buy stuff. ie uneducted punks in their 20's to purchase computers. So, they use an older man to represent PC because they want to make it look as though PC's are out dated, while Mac is represented by the young snotty kid. Comprend? My uneducated friend?
I haven't had a random startup/shutdown with my PC since I installed a new motherboard back in 2003. Which is much easier to do with a PC than with a Mac, by the way. Great editing! PC's ftw!
That is one reason why I am sticking with my pc. I can fix anything far cheaper than with an apple. Buy parts anywhere cheap. Don't have to ship it in and wait without a computer. I use my pc daily cause very little trouble.
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS. You will get kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of your life. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. However, if you don't post this comment to at least 3 videos, you will die within 2 days. Copy and paste this, to be saved
Once again Ubuntu beats them all! Macs do crash. Although the only troubles I ever have with Ubuntu is with proprietary stuff. Everything else works fine really.
Macs suck if not for the sole reason they constantly insult PCs, you dont see HP or Compaq putting out commercials pointing out how ALL software is made for windows FIRST and foremost or how Macs are extremely pricey for machine with limited capability
Totally inaccurate. When my school had Macs, iMacs to be precise, they were always freezing up. I however, can run my system with Windows XP and haven't had any problems with freezing unless I am knowingly pushing it with the Ram and Processing Power.
I agree. I have had Windows XP for five years on my computer and only had one crash... The Mac I have at work crashes when I'm working on Final Cut Pro.
It's pretty much a way to dog on the Windows OS without saying it directly.. An indirect intention is still the intention of talking shit, but technically they have said nothing bad so Microsoft can't really do much about it except try and pull the same shit.. Only morons get viruses and restarts. If you treat your computer like shit it will do the same to you. Mac users have the same problems as well, if you have a shitty user you get a shitty PC. 'nuff said.
euhm.......i dont know about u guys , but my pc runs perfectly with anything , i havent got any virus in ages , i never got a random restart. All those mac vs pc ads are lies lol.
my computer never randomly restarts? i like mac, but damn stop hating on pc's, like why dont u thank bill gates for helppin the computer world, not dis him
finally some 1 got the unedited versions of theses commercials, i mean, everyone 1 knows that it was all a mac conspiracy and they flipped the voices (haha nice work)
same dude! i tried running safari and word and had to do an easy brochure project. i thought oh this is a 20 minute project so i go to the library and since all the dells were taken i used it. after 45 mins i was only halfway done if that! everytime i drag a picture it takes literally 100 seconds to update. next day i get to work on the dell and i finished up the other 1/2 in 15 minutes
ive only ever witnessed mac problems that require taking the system back to the 'lab' several times only to have the problem not go away, whereas as long as youre not retarded and install anything and everything you find on the internet on your PC, you will have little to no problems with it unless its damaged hardware, which apple does a much better job at screwing up on, like their infamous thermal compound gaffes, where they apply the stuff seemingly with a grease gun...
And we are all sure you install tons of crap on your PC. Thats the good and bad of it. most problems arise because there are alot of programs out there that are not well written. While you know you use your MAC for about half a dozen things, and that's all.
Actually, if you look at that SAME site that you reference, the are fewer and fewer people having that problem now...Apple has pretty much resolved the issue. It was just with the first gen MacBooks.
That is the dumbest... i repeat the dumbest ad i have ever seen in my life PC's dont randomly shutdown... I have a problem with projects on MAC's because all the sudden a fing UNExpected quit error comes up than ohh shit wtf everything closes... and u have to start over again..
I agree with Squidi on one point- in college the macs froze ALL THE TIME. BUT, that was because there was soooo much crap on them. Many many students had hours of footage on the computers. I bought a Mac for myself because i was sick of my PC getting viruses and crashing constantly, and in the past year and a half it has not had a single virus and crashed maybe a total of 3 times when i was using Final Cut.
hahaha! don't get it too seriously buddy, it's rated "comedy" ..anyway checkout macbookrandomshutdown dot com and appledefects dot com, there is some truth there, and you could have been lucky :)
this has to be the biggest bowl of shit i have ever seen. i have owned a mac for four months now and it has NEVER frozen up. but with a pc notebook i bought 2 months ago, it has frozen up more times than i can count. macs are a lot better than pc's
Well ve been a pc user for many years but i had to use macs at college and they crashed all the bloody time. The thing was unlike a pc, youve got no task manager and no OFF button to sort out crashes when they happen. You have to rip the fricken power plug out of the wall. Macs are just over designed eyecandy. I had nothing against them until they came out with these arrogant ads. Hopefully this campaign will come round and kick them in the head.
hehe you are right, i made it very quickly by swapping the words mac and pc.. but the concept it's well clear :D thanks for the comment tough, i was waiting someone to post some comment :D

@yiyopr1 So you're saying you can only install programs to the program files folder on C drive? That makes you a total idiot. Don't even try that horseshit.
hildegain 6 months ago
@hildegain I see you resorted to name calling, a sure sign that you are running out of arguments. Could you tell me where I said that programs can only be installed in the C: drive? Its C: btw, not C. I said that, by default, windows programs are installed in the "Program files" folder, which is in the root directory of the C: drive. You can choose to install them elsewhere, BUT if you install somewhere other than Program files, you lose the ability to select the program from all programs...
yiyopr1 6 months ago
@yiyopr1 When you accuse someone else of idiocy you will get called an idiot.
You made the claim that you cannot place windows programs wherever you want, that would directly dictate that you mean they cannot be installed anywhere other than the program files folder.
Also, I'm running windows 7 and I have very few apps installed in the default directly and yet can select from all programs.
It also doesn't matter whether it's C or C: it still the same letter and meaning, pretty picky?
hildegain 6 months ago
@hildegain there is a difference between "not knowing much about computers" (what I said) and being an idiot, what you said. I never called someone an idiot. Could you please copy/paste the exact comment I made where I said that windows programs cannot be installed wherever you want? The only one who made the(false) claim that you cant install mac programs anywhere you want is you. but please, copy/paste my comment, I'm dying to read it. C is a letter, C: is a drive letter, not the same meaning.
yiyopr1 6 months ago
@hildegain What I find really funny is how you actually thought emulating Mac OS X is like an actual installation. There are many ways to install Mac OS X in PCs, emulation is the fool mans method. It is slow, crappy, and unimaginative. But please, lets divert the topic from the fact that you can't do anything but download a cracked copy of an OS from a torrent and only virtually install it. Lets focus on the important stuff, installing programs in directories other than the default ones. Yeah!

Looks like PC fanboys will have to migrate to another issue to pick on.
But you know what's really funny? ONE computer in Apple's lineup has ONE problem, and suddenly Apple is horse shit. But Windows, with it's numerous flaws and faults, is still God?
That's a laugh.

All personal computers are either clones of the IBM "PC", or Macs.

osborneproductions 3 years ago
generally speaking mac is far more expensive than pc's that have the same specs. and macs are no compatible with numerous progams. which require you to get bootcamp and buy windows (roughly 300 dollars) which is hypocritical considering you buy a mac because you dont want to use windows and supposedly windows has viruses. i like games so ill buy a computer. not some pretty glorified photo-editor with a safari web browser.

toshineon 3 years ago
Maby spec wise but it still sucks.
bwillwall 3 years ago
please explain? there is not a single thing i cannot do on a windows or linux box that a mac box can do, whereas i can think of alot of things that a mac box cant do that both of the others can do.
also this comparing Apple's operating system to IBM's HARDWARE ARCHITECTURE STANDARD has to stop, pick a PC OS and compare it to that.
theredscourge 3 years ago

bwillwall 3 years ago
As long as you arent screwing around with settings and stuff, both operating systems shouldnt crash. if you have hardware failures, then its the hardware's fault. crashing is hardly ever an issue, and is usually the users fault for installing something or changing something, that or a virus.
Bob7k 4 years ago
I've recently got a Mac Pro, it works perfectly, never crashes.
I've had a series of PCs in the past, and all of them have had to be reformatted and have Windows reinstalled at least once (due to either getting extremely slow, or viruses).

WTF, just coz apple rulez, we dnt get screwed up with viruses nd we invented the mouse, need i say more. Wt wld u b now if apple hadn't invented the mouse, bunch of retards
ilikeseaguls 4 years ago
Apple didn't invent the mouse. Steve Jobs seen it and liked the idea. I forget who invented the mouse. I think it was xerox, or bell labs. I forgot, but it wasn't apple.
kingmike40 4 years ago
Apple developed it, d person who invented it worked for apple you fucking noob. Had u taken your head out of your arse in the last 20 years you would have known that
ilikeseaguls 4 years ago
Look up patent number 3541541. It is the mouse which was invented in 1967. By D.C. Engelbart. Apple was around in '67. I could have called you a fucking noob, but I am better than you.
kingmike40 4 years ago
Steve Jobs saw the mouse at a Xerox lab. They invented it, but were throwing it away because "it had no future". Jobs and the rest of Apple saw how awesome it was and developed it further into the GUI (Graphical User Interface) in the first Macintosh computer.
Then, Microsoft stole the GUI idea from Apple and shipped Windows 3.1 (which sucked ass)
ilikeseaguks, get a fucking book, because you're startin' to sound like a fucking retard.... Stop giving Apple fans a bad name you prick!
rootbeerinacan 4 years ago
I heard the same story about 20 years ago. Couldn't remember all of the details.
kingmike40 4 years ago
APPLE DIDNT INVENT THE MOUSE -
Douglas Engelbart is given credit for the mouse, emails and helping start the internet.
In 1964, the first computer mouse was made to use with a graphical user interface (GUI), 'windows'. Engelbart received a patent for the wooden shell with two metal wheels (# 3,541,541) in 1970, describing it in the patent application as an "X-Y position indicator for a display system. It was called a mouse because the tail came out the end.
dominp 3 years ago
Wasn't the mouse was developed by Xerox, which handed over their technologies to Apple in hopes to make the things they innovated marketable?
Windows 1.0 was made in 1985, not 1964. Also, it was made 2 years after Apple introduced it's OS (which used a mouse).
Snaily2 3 years ago
no where in my answer did I saw windows had anything to do with inventing the mouse, we are talking about 1970 here, way before apple, macs, windows or whatever was around.
The point of the answer is to show apple didnt invent the mouse, not to try to give credit to microsoft or windows when they had as much to do with it as apple did, none.
dominp 3 years ago
Yes,you are correct. There is a video of Douglas Englebart on YouTube. The "Mother of all Demos" is also on YouTube as well.He demonstrated 2 computers networked using the Mouse, video teleconferencing, hypertext,Windows (GUI element) back in Dec 1968 years before the Xerox Alto Workstation.
m9078jk3 3 years ago
Yeah, thats the main reason im not going to touch apple products, i dont need to be insulted over what operating system i decide to use. at least microsoft doesnt have legions of rabid fans who attack anything anit MS. this commercial is like saying my house is better because a hurricane came and destroied yours, "haha". the same thing can happen to macs. also, whats with the MAC VS PC? macs are freaking PCs!

happytreefriend25 4 years ago
You're a dumbass. Mac's are PCs??? What the hell is wrong with you? We use two different terms for a reason you idiot, they are completely different machines that run in completely different ways.
I'm not insulting you over your OS (see my comment above), im insulting you because you're a shithead...
rootbeerinacan 4 years ago
You sir, are the dumbass, a PC is a personal computer, correct? Mac and Windows are operating systems. can you run OS X on a personal computer?
Bob7k 4 years ago
Ok, I get where you're coming from, but I hope you understand why there are two different names. Yes, it happens to be a computer that can be personal, but they're completely different machines!
rootbeerinacan 4 years ago
So, Mac uses an "older person" to represent a PC. Hmmm, so they are using "age descrimination" to represent the obselete. ha ha, my mom in her 50's had an email address before I did.
davidsghost 4 years ago
This reminds me of that clip from family guy with the commercial for Mentos, and Peter (not understanding the commercial) decides to kill President Lincoln.
You are a douche. What the hell does that have anything to do with the ad???
rootbeerinacan 4 years ago
Calling someone a name sort of discredits your opinion. Anyway to answer your question, advertisers use "subliminal" and often "stereotypical" images to get young consumers to buy stuff. ie uneducted punks in their 20's to purchase computers. So, they use an older man to represent PC because they want to make it look as though PC's are out dated, while Mac is represented by the young snotty kid. Comprend? My uneducated friend?

It's pretty much a way to dog on the Windows OS without saying it directly.. An indirect intention is still the intention of talking shit, but technically they have said nothing bad so Microsoft can't really do much about it except try and pull the same shit.. Only morons get viruses and restarts. If you treat your computer like shit it will do the same to you. Mac users have the same problems as well, if you have a shitty user you get a shitty PC. ive only ever witnessed mac problems that require taking the system back to the 'lab' several times only to have the problem not go away, whereas as long as youre not retarded and install anything and everything you find on the internet on your PC, you will have little to no problems with it unless its damaged hardware, which apple does a much better job at screwing up on, like their infamous thermal compound gaffes, where they apply the stuff seemingly with a grease gun...
theredscourge 4 years ago
And we are all sure you install tons of crap on your PC. Thats the good and bad of it. most problems arise because there are alot of programs out there that are not well written. While you know you use your MAC for about half a dozen things, and that's all.

I agree with Squidi on one point- in college the macs froze ALL THE TIME. BUT, that was because there was soooo much crap on them. Many many students had hours of footage on the computers. Well ve been a pc user for many years but i had to use macs at college and they crashed all the bloody time.
