Major props to you sloobro. I am a huge Katamari fan and I have never got more than abot 800 cranes. I know I know I'm weak. are there more than 1000 cranes or do you seriously have to roll up every single one? and I see that some people have talked about losing the playable ending on Katamari Damacy. Wow I beat that game and I didn't realize it had a playable ending. Or did I?!

Most levels are timed and you have to reach a certain size before time runs out. This stage is unlike the others.

It time runs out, you lose.

@ marriedsephi I've watched this video and I too don't like how much I backtracked this attempt. This is just a video of my best strategy for this stage; I'm sure some people can complete this faster and more impressively.

It took me two hundred tries (exaggerating here) to get all 1000 cranes. I used your strategy at it really helped out.

The best strategy for any level of katamari is to just keep rolling and not try to roll backwards or in a circle to go back get something you just missed. Rolling backwards is slow and going in a circle to backtrack just wastes time unless you happen to be rolling up more stuff in that circle.

There's no harm in just rolling up what's in your forward path(even if you're zig zaging like crazy if you want as long as you're moving forward) and then starting at the beginning again to make a second sweep. Going through the doors at one end of the hall just puts you back at the other end of the hall.

There are 1000.

The big stacks are worth 50. When you got about 900 you might have just missed a couple big stacks, so you might have been close.

Wow, you were close! I've gotten 999 a lot of times, more often than I've gotten 1000.

You may well have been missing one of those big yellow cranes that fly through the wall between the first and middle rooms. Those are evil.
