  • it just a stone wtf

  • theres some blood on that diamond

  • Diamonds...they are neither rare nor valuable really....the biggest scam going on to date

  • what does it do ? how does it work ? nothing. what a waste of money

  • What is he going to do with the diamond? Just let it sit on a shelf? What happiness is he getting out of it? Is it just to know how much its worth and that he could afford it? I mean diamonds arent very pretty, they look like glass. I bet his daughter would rather have had those 16 million to buy other stuff for!

  • let the mighty Earth swallow these maggots

  • Stupid.

  • Uh not $16 million dollars, it sold for 16 million francs. Thats $3.5 million US

  • How people pay so much for a piece of rock is beyond me....

  • Why the fuck do we put such a heavy price on a rock? Diamonds are stockpiled at Debeers warehouses around the world. There is no shortage. Diamonds can be made.

  • $16.26 Million as of August 31, 2010 currency exchange rates

  • @BALUFOC you are right of course, but it is our common desicion to live this way

  • FUCK MOFOS YOU KNOW ITS TRUE

show me where white people dig in mines all get paid fuck all and live in fucking shacks

  • I bet those fuckers didnt give the founder's a shit. They prolly just snatched the diamond right out of their hands and got a 16 millions richer than they already were...

  • Sotheby's also auctioned off the only legal 1933 Saint Twenty. They are a true class act.

  • who bought that O_O?

  • The Wittelsbach has since beaten the record set here. In December 2008 it sold for $24 million and change.

The diamond shown here is one of the largest standard round brilliants in the world. The Safia weighs 90 carats, and apparently Moussaieff created a necklace with a 110-carat+ round a couple years back.

  • It's ridiculous that diamond's have such high value when it's just a stone.. There are much nicer exotic looking stones than diamonds that not nearly as many children/slaves died for... People with more money than they know what do with buy stupid shit like that diamond.

  • If i ever buy it , i will be worrying over it getting stolen. >.>

  • @PirateKing1256 hahahaha....danm true

  • yes! them Crazy baldheads!

  • @pesser yea, the black man found the diamond, right. What will you tell us next? The arabs found the oil? And the indians prolly invented the machinery to dig all this up?

    Liberal retardedness at its best.

  • @pesser Shitty choice of words...

  • Some guy said something like (I never understood why men value these small stones and rocks, when they have whole stars in front of their eyes.)

  • I better get fake for 15$

  • OMG its sooooo small yet SOOOO POWERFUL 8)

  • then stop bitching, no one cares.

  • well whats the frank/dollar(/euro) rate?

  • franks idiot

    not dollar

  • Your both a couple of assholes. Its FRANC.

  • 16.200.000 franks = 15.197.999,30 dollar

    at the moment

  • didnt france adapt to use euros?

  • yesssss he says 16mil franks

    not dollars

  • you're all haters lol...broke haters

  • It's nice to complane about it, but what are you doing to change things?

  • its soo small

(thats wot she said 2 him at 0:53)

  • 16 million franks? wtf?

  • Who freakin cares about a stupid diamond? I'll tell you. Stupid people. Hardly anyone realizes how much diamonds are REALLY worth. A diamond of this size would be worth a very small fraction of it's selling price. It's absolutely moronic to waste all that money on a tiny rock. It's like buying a $100 bill for $1,000,000. I'm glad I'm not rich. At least that way I can make smart financial decisions. When the economy totally fails, he'll wish he had money instead of a rock.

  • it was so many diamond coming from congoat one time De_Beers thought of sinking onof their ships full of diamond in a deep gorge in the atlantic to make sure the diamond prices remained high they are usuful coated on cutting equipment for their hardness FA else just a stone that shines to the polish

  • I heard in paragudalam... which is a country in another galaxy they sell 1kg of diamond for 30 cebutoro when convert it to earth money that's like 50 cent, it' very cheap.

  • he said "franks" not dollars

  • i would put it on my toe ring

  • In my opion what is the point of buying a stone that big. No one is going to wear that because of the HIGH possibility of getting it stolen or mugged on the street

The person that buyed it is just gonna look at it and nothing else. At least use the 16mil to help charity.... >_>

  • I could have one made like that for a couple hundred bucks....lol,and NOBODY but an expert could tell the difference.....hahahahaha.The buyer will show this off to his friends and they'll all agree he has money.Exactly his plan-he is buying status by being a moron.....hahahaha

  • So why haven't you done it snatchhog? If you could have, why not? I could pick up Angelina Jolie and have kinky ass monkey sex with her, if only I believed my own bullshit, hahaha

  • I could get a fake dimond for about £10 and it will look the same as this one Hah and nobody will belive that man unless he had the prove or knew how rich he is lol

  • they said aliens bulit a city of pure gold.

its a myth. i, jocelyn, and my sisters janna and julissia, joanna, and jamalayha would be on a search of it.... hopefully!

  • i cant get enough of that stone.. its magical

  • fake value

its just compressed carbon the most common element on earth

  • Like saying a masterpiece by Van Gogh is just canvas and paint? Idiot.

  • compressed carbon for 16mil.....

  • ha now that i look at it that way your right! thats pretty funny!

  • This 84-carat round now ranks 3rd highest price paid for a diamond at auction, not 2nd. The new 2nd, a 100-carat colorless pear shape (The Star of the Season) sold in 1995 for a $16.5 million.

#1 as of a few days back is now the 35-carat Wittelsbach, graded as Fancy Deep Grayish-Blue. Before this, this diamond was rumored to be privately owned in France. It wound up selling for just over $24M. Natural blue diamonds are a lot rarer than totally colorless diamonds. It had a lot of history, too.

  • its actually $3,591,720

  • why?

  • thanks for converting it to dollars, i was wondering how much

  • Not mentioned in the auction clip is the hammer price with the buyer's premium added to it: 18,193,000 Swiss francs, which equated to $16,189,768 US, or £7,788,785 British pounds (as per the exchange rate the day of the sale).

Round is the most desirable cutting shape, generally. So rounds tend to have higher prices. And I think there are only like two larger round brilliants: The 90-carat Safia, and a 118-carat stone owned by Moussaieff, set in a necklace.

  • The Queen has a bigger one - 94.4 carat. It's part of a brooch. Crazy big. I've seen it :)

  • lol people are so stupid paying that much for a stupid stone what are they going to do with it? its gonna sit in a room somewhere then the person is gonna die hmm ya thats smart !

  • Id rather have a red or green diamond(natural color, not irradiated). Theres lots of colorless diamond out there, and something thats 84 carats is way too big to wear anyways, good luck putting that into a pendant. Plus a red diamond thats around 5 carats is much more prestigious then some whopping 80 carat white diamond.

  • Colorless diamonds are more beautiful than red diamonds. Color in a diamond acts as a filter. filtering light resulting in lesser brilliance, fire and scintillation. Flaws also hinders light.

There are diamonds too that are more colorless than D. I owned one and they are usually called a Golconda diamond. More colorless than colorless, whiter than white and brighter than bright.

  • I owned a small beyond perfection diamond. The rarest diamond on the face of planet earth. PM me for more info...

  • cmon guys do you honestly believe that diamond is among the biggest, before the twin towers collapsed they have the worlds biggest diamond in the underground vault so big that they did not give it any publicity since its so fucking huge you wouldnt believe

  • i have diamond worth 100 dollar so small that you can't see

  • I remember when this sold. Round brilliants are the most popular cutting style, and large ones are really uncommon, let alone monsterous ones like this. I think the only larger stone is the Safia, a 90-carat round brilliant.

BTW, the most expensive diamond sold at auction to date is the 100.10-carat Star of the Season, which sold for $16,548,750 at Sothebys Geneva in 1995. Just a hair more expensive than the stone shown here.

  • doubt it

  • i got a diamond worth 6 million pounds.. its almost up there
