Cute video. Are there lights in the pool or an object in the water because T.J. seemed to be looking at something, at times? I thought at first maybe it was live fish but since he never caught anything I thought about lights.

@cpydiana We treat all our cages with rustoleum so they do not rust, we sometimes have to replace sections where the cats pee on them all the time! :)

@kickbuttgirlz99- if you think the cages are nasty then why don't you donate some money to help improve them? BCR are obviously doing the best they can to help these animals which would otherwise be locked in tiny concrete cages or worse.
@18PANA Hi, we change the water for our cats every day, 365 days a year, some still drink out of their ponds form time to time, but it's recirculating lake water. Thanks for watching!
Most of our tiger ponds have a few fish in there, but TJ hasn't got any! He really does just start splashing around, he's captivated by the water, of course you can make him splash, like when we turn the pond pump off to clear it then switch it back on, or put some enrichment in his pond!
All the cats at the sanctuary have large enclosures, of course this doesn't compare to living in the wild, but we give them enrichment and do the best we can for them.
My brother and his girlfriend have a few cats in theri apartment and he once told me tat it doesn't really matter to them how bit their space is, they still walk the same distance they would walk in the wild. They don't even want to leave the apartment.

I think domestic cats can become more adapted to a particular environment than wild exotic cats. I guarantee, given half a chance all our cats would escape from their enclosures and go explore! In the wild many species roam and mark hundreds of square miles as their own territory.
All Big Cats are diverse and have different ways they go about theirselves e.g. Tigers prefer to hunt on their own, as well as Cheetahs, whilst Lions prefer to hunt in prides. They all roam across acres int he wild to mark their territory so rival Big Cats/Predators don't steal their territory. :)
Like any prisoner he takes his time of fun and makes it work. It sucks that humans can't actually let animals live in the wild. Every country pushes its natural populations to extinction or death. I really hate to see that this is the only alternative. Just visit a zoo in China! Yuck...would never ever want to be a caged species in China...or a human either...
TJ acts alot like my cat Franklin even though Franklin is 2x smaller then TJ.. After anyone takes a shower hes the first one in the tub, splashing around then geting soaked.. He is a huge kitten though!

Good point. Big Cat Rescue does not support keeping these animals in captivity, and do not breed their animals. The animals in their care have all been rescued from very bad situations, and as they are captive born, they unfortunately can't be returned to the wild. But BCR does everything they can to ensure that these animals are content and live the best life possible in captivity.
I totally agree with you, all tigers and big cats need to be let alone from humans.
However, these cats are there with Bigcatrescue because they were saved from either horrible habitats with concrete cages or mean owners who kept them as pets.... or both!
Sadly they probably grew up there or with other humans and don't know how to hunt or take care of themselves in the wild, but Bigcatrescue seems to be doing a pretty good job keeping them in a habitat almost just like they should be in!
To me it looks like the Tiger is looking for fish. And even though each time he finds nothing, in he goes again. Nice looking animal, but dumb as dirt.

I just went to like a behind the scenes thing at bush gardens at saw the tigers and how they feed them it was really cool they freeze blood like a popsicle and give it to them
Chilidrew727, yes we do that too. As their meat unthaws we save the drippings to make those popsicles, too. Then on very hot days the cats will spend an afternoon playing with it and enjoying the cool frozen treat. It really breaks the boredom for captive animals to get different and interesting treats like that. As long as the preparation is sanitary and done safely it is great.

He looks like he is living the good life. I do understand though that this is the best you can give him because every show I have ever seen where they try to release cats back into the wild-- they find them dead or just their tracking devices. My same argument is with people who let their domestic inhumanely declawed cats outside. An outside domestic cat is a dead cat.
Teresaveg, on another website (it is very similar to YouTube except ALL videos are about animals) we are running a contest called "Pet Enrichment" and it is all about people showing something they do to make their pet's life better. It is our hope that through the videos posted to that contest viewers will learn tips on being better pet owners or get ideas on things to do to improve their pets' quality of life. Chester Zoo, in England, is a remarkable example in species reproduction that are endangered with co-operation with other countries' Zoos around the world.

The water is moving and is pumping in and out all the time. The pools are kept clean. Cat-A-Tats are cleaned each and every day 365 days a year.

I just went to like a behind the scenes thing at bush gardens at saw the tigers and how they feed them it was really cool they freeze blood like a popsicle and give it to them

Chilidrew727, yes we do that too. As their meat unthaws we save the drippings to make those popsicles, too. Then on very hot days the cats will spend an afternoon playing with it and enjoying the cool frozen treat. It really breaks the boredom for captive animals to get different and interesting treats like that. As long as the preparation is sanitary and done safely it is great.

He looks like he is living the good life. I do understand though that this is the best you can give him because every show I have ever seen where they try to release cats back into the wild-- they find them dead or just their tracking devices. My same argument is with people who let their domestic inhumanely declawed cats outside. An outside domestic cat is a dead cat.

Teresaveg, on another website (it is very similar to YouTube except ALL videos are about animals) we are running a contest called "Pet Enrichment" and it is all about people showing something they do to make their pet's life better. It is our hope that through the videos posted to that contest viewers will learn tips on being better pet owners or get ideas on things to do to improve their pets' quality of life. BCR, you misunderstand me, I have no motives, I just appreciate the good examples of wild life care in sanctuaries - and even in one or two Zoos!
Chester Zoo, in England, is a remarkable example in species reproduction that are endangered with co-operation with other countries' Zoos around the world.
I might be biased in that Chester Zoo was the first that I visited as a child, but that is understandable. :D

Well my cat doesnt like water much
But the tiger loves it, i guess it shows that cats kinda do like water!

Jedpalc, this tiger's name is TJ. TJ hasn't been at Big Cat Rescue very long and this is already his SECOND pool. He plays like this all the time. Have you been to our main website, yet?

I love tigers. They make great throw rugs! If we commercialized them, there would be a lot more of them, because people would want their skins for this and other purposes. We should clone-the-crap out of them!
