Jesus, my laptop would fry hardcore just trying to render one frame of that simulation. I don't even want to take a guess at what your hardware specs are. Im guessing it is something relatively pretty decent for today's current hardware market
Very nice, you showed you skill again. I love to see some new tutorials from you. At least can you say how did you force cycles to render particles at all! Were they rendered as small objects with glowing material, or what? In my tests, Cycles just simply don't render particles at all.
@NionsChannel I see. I did try something similar back then using Blender Internal Renderer to get occlussion. Blender Particles is never rendered as a pixel/dot anyway, and its instancing is quite powerful. The fact that Cycles renders instances really fast and efficient, make this effect really cool.
Absolutely astonishing! Can't wait for cycles top completely support opencl, I want to take a crack at it with my firepro v5800. How much ram do you have? that fluid simulation looked very good, I have 16 but I haven't made one look so high res before
@TechnoStickmen Using the normal fluid sim with the particles option enabled greatly increases the apparent resolution at a fraction of the cost. Ive found that a resolution between 100 and 200 with particles can look amazing. There aren't many tutorials on it, but the Blender documentation has a page about them. (Note: these particles are completely different from the fluid particles that were just recently added)
a little advice for you, try rendering in png instead of a video file, this way you won't lose frames if you render

Can u do somethin like that for me? Maybe I can pay :D

how long did it take you to render this?
sciguy1121 2 months ago
Would you be willing to let us take a peek at the material setup for this? It looks amazing! How many particles is that?

ok, just one question: how long? ^^
btw. i love it

wow, that is impressive! I really hope for volumetric rendering being implemented in cycles.

Oh my god... Krakatoa look alike for the win.
Can't wait until fluid particles get meshing... or have they already and I just missed it?
TheFXGuy 2 months ago
@TheFXGuy I'm waiting for that, too.
NionsChannel 2 months ago
@TheFXGuy @NionsChannel there is alread a patch and a python script available for meshing. Unfortunately I cannot post links here :(

Are those Particles real particles or just instances of tiny little objects? Cycles can render particles?
enzym 2 months ago
@enzym Tiny spheres were used for the first animation, and trianlges for the second one.

Great looking video once again!

Why didn't you use a material with the glass shader for the water? Cool stuff anyway keep up the good work.
