Arabian Islams were fine with other religions, expressing trade. Then the Seljuk Turks rose & attacked the Christian & Jewish Holy Lands. The Europeans then went to war with the Islamic religion, and that is why they are not friendly to other religions.

Funny how there appears to be a philosophical debate happening here, on the page of Saladin's theme. I don't have to agree with the tenets of islam (or any other religion, for that matter) to find this music enchanting, beautiful. This is my favourite theme from the game.

@ghazalyman Actually they were just as bad as the christians until Saladin came along. In fact, the entirety of the middle east were in civil war between the Seljuks, Shi'ites and Sunnis. However, I will agree that we have done wrongs things in the past to them, even though that is no excuse for what they do right now.

Im not going to confuse Arabs with muslims and accuse them of being terrorists, but I am going to say that most people are tolerent of religion now, so yeah.

Saladin always ends up being my bestest pal in Civilization. It's really uncanny, to the point where I just expect him to be my closest ally. Maybe he's just programmed to love China and Germany (I pretty much always play as them).

This music is very interesting. I am a fan of civ 4. Saladin (Salauddin) was a great king, warrior and Mujjahid. The Arabs had tremendous honor and courage, something which the Christian crusaders lacked. They were barbarians and savages and murdered and terrorized unchecked until Saladin crushed them and liberated the Holy lands. Funny that nothing has changed much after 800 years. Now you have Western Terrorists still invading lands that dont belong to them. The Muslims need a new Saladin.

Saladin and King Richard the "Lion Heart" respected each other for their convictionas well. During one battle, Saladin had his men send Richard a new horse, because his former one was killed. Though, Saladin did also take the cross from the Catholic Cathedral in Jerusalem and had it dragged throughout the city when he successfully took it during the Jihad. So, it was more of a mixed relations thing. They hated the opposite faith, but respected their enemies will to win.

The Leader of the Arabs in Civ IV is a Kurd. But yes, he led mostly Arab subjects anyway. In Civ V it'll be Harun ar-Rashid (a real Arab, who lived in Iran).

That's because Napoleon doesn't care about your religion, or your civics, or anything else for that matters. However, he cares about your cities, and he wants them, alot.

Saladin has one of the nicest AI personalities in the game. He never really demands too much, he may ask for techologies from time to time, but that's it. He's the perfect ally and easy to persuade to peace in wartime. Also, it would be wise to have the same state religion as him, he has a big relation effect to you based on religion.

Depends on your play style. Certain countries you can play as tend to rub others the wrong way, and if you pick particular civ ethics, that will also affect how others treat you.

@Valrez812 It probably has to do with some of the more subtle programming that went on to better reflect the leaders' characters. Saladin has a reputation as an honourable, almost chivalrous gentleman.

I don't know, Arabia CAN get pretty damn strong if given a good position with neighbors. If he's near Monte/Zulu he will get insanely strong after they declare war on him.

@issareign I am not kidding you. They are not very good at all trait wise. Protective is arguably the worst trait in the game and spiritual, well, it's just handy.

I play on Monarch, about to move up to emperor. Tell me what difficulty you play? I really think that Protective is bad, a simple whip can toss a wall up and once you have metal, archers aren't to be very much relied on.
