Be sure to study how to construct words first. Grammar is very important and when you learned how to put words together to form a sentence, expanding your vocabulary follows through.

These were insanely helpful. I never once thought of learning the verbal part of japanese but then a friend told me to look up some kind of audio lesson and just give it a shot.

This was an interesting first step. Miiiiight just have to go find more lessons to learn because I actually enjoyed this which I never have done learning another language like Spanish or French in school. If you dont enjoy something then learning it wont be half as effective.

@Carmen20110 It's Subject Object Verb. You start the sentence talking about the subject first. (for example "I") and then you describe the object. Say you are eating bread. Then you finish the sentence with the verb, eat. So in English it sounds wierd because it says, I bread eat. But in Japan it would be,

Watashi-wa (I) pan-o(bread) tabemasu(eat).

@twochicks23 I dont mean to be a gramma nazi, just offering some constructive critasism, but in japan america is spelled "amerika". This will help you when learning to read and write hiragana and katakana, it is because there is no sound/symbal for "ca" because it is written "ka"
