do a bit of research, computers arent really as hard as you think. Some small determination and time is all taht is needed and youll save a buttload of money. By research I mainly mean, things not to do like work on carpet, or touch your MB with metal, fingers etc. Lots of times the screen flickers could be a loose wire or plug from all the opening and closing of lid.
NOW YOU SPLIT SCREEN OPEN, AND SIMPLY AND I MEAN SIMPLY TAKE OUT RIBBON CABLE FROM BACK OF LCD AND PUT BACK IN, IF THAT DOES NOT FIX THEN BUY THE LCD SCREEN, BUT WAIT YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO JUST BUY A NEW BACKLIGHT IF THAT IS ALL THAT IS BAD. AND YOU MIGHT ONLY NEED TO CHANGE THE INVERTER BOARD. LOOK ON GOOGLE FOR TEN MINUTES AND YOU WILL SOON BE ON YOUR WAY TO PURCHASING YOUR REPLACEMENT PARTS!!!!!
@geetarzan69 Then it means hundreds of people have dv5 lemons, because there's tons of videos of other people's dv5s breaking and/or screen flickering and/or other issues...
@templarjay Perhaps hundreds of people did get lemons. But a few hundred out of millions of DV5 laptops sold and used is still a chance I would take any day. It's the same with any piece of technology you can purchase these days. Nothing is devoid of defect. Man made technology, much like man, has it's imperfections, but it's still pretty damn good.
@camerongordon Sorry to hear about your luck. But that's the nature of technology. Someone purchases a product, it breaks, they say it sucks. Another person purchases the exact same product, they use it for a long time, they swear by it. Every product is built differently. Perhaps you got a lemon, and that's too bad.
@geetarzan69 good for you getting a decent dv5 but its a design flaw. the dv5's absolutually suck.l im on my dv6 special edition which we have had for about 5 years and have never had a problem with it. maybe you just got a lemon that turned out to be a good lemon
@camerongordon Perhaps yours sucked because you got a lemon. However, mine has never been a problem for me and it's great. Also I'm a little curious as to which laptop you have. The first model DV6 was released in May of 2010 so for you to have had it for 5 years is not possible. Either way, as long as you found a laptop that works for you, that's all that matters.
@geetarzan69 its a hppavilion dv6 special edition. i know its numerous years old b/c my mother died three years ago and she had it for about 2-3 year before shedied.
@camerongordon Hp core 2 duo are all bad designs, i have a DV6 which sucked just after its warrenty was over in its 13th month, i got it 3 years back. then i got a DV5 and i got it fixed twice. Though they are good in performance but they are not durable. The DVD drive in my dv5 sucks and it overheats. there is nothing good abt it besides that it is fancy.
Hmm, i wonder why your one is giving you problems, iv had mine for a year (hp dv6), and i haz no problemz. lol just looking to give it a clean inside.
well the issue is, how are you going to replace the cable without replacing the screen? The hinge is attached to the screen, and there aren't any screws left to unscrew, so you can't really just, yank out the cable and put a new one in. At least not that im aware of....
Not a total disassembly,
