  • beautiful!!

  • (2/2) Music by composers like sorabji are terrible. But at the same time, I consider it to be music. are yoou saying that if it's not pleasant, it's not music?

(ps, I don't really care about how many words I misspelled. You really are stupid if you are going to point that out to a mere stranger. some people need to be more polite...)

  • (1/2) Okay. To all the people that are hating my comment about respecting other generes, I don't care if you really agree with my opinion or not.... like for example, I do not like music from the 80s. I just cannot listen to it. Even if I think that the artist cannot sing at all, I still appreciate the work that they do. My definition of music is that it has to be an organized sound. I think modern singers fit that bill.

  • awesomesauce

  • Ich liebe es! Die melodie ist so wunderwunderschön. Es ist wie magie. Sie verzaubert alles. Toll!

  • Top two comments were written in a great hurry...

  • @akingoflimbs Haha my thoughts ezactly...

  • Comment removed

  • i am learning this!

  • i think about half of these views are from me. I love Debussy! Currently trying to teach myself this. it's so beautiful <3

  • My god, there isn't a place on earth where I read/hear about a modern singer... If I come here, it is to go back to Debussy's time!

  • @whoanelleh Sorry. I accidentally hit the send button. .. Anyways, I actually like classical better. I never said they were comparable in the first place. I just said you need to appreciate the work they do! :)... And cussing really? Let's be civilized people. No I'm not thirteen nor a girl. But good try. Pretty close by age though. I see those capitalization and punctuation marks are still getting at you.

  • @whoanelleh why do you have to go and argue? The way I perceived your comment was as you thought I was saying I think modern is better than classical. I actually

  • Debussy was a genius: Reverie, Clair de Lune, the Arabesques, Images, loads of great pieces to his name.

  • amazing

  • Considering learning this for my A Level Music performance. It's listed as being grade 8 standard but seems pretty easy. Lovely piece :)

  • Hi! Beautiful performance. I wish I would be able to play like that.... :) - from your challenged student -

  • Trp8155- indeed! I think every movement, century, decade has something to offer musically. Diversity is a good thing :)

  • Complex and modern.

That is for present, but future?

    Is nothing but without Debussy.

  • Its amazing! This is a video of such a wonderful song... But humans are sooo (sorry if kids) fucking estupid that cant set aside their fool fights and enjoy music..

  • paste this link to see a beautiful ice skating performance to this

    /watch?v=FiUuTLHrGFg&feature=channel_video_title

  • @glovetones the irony !

  • hmmmm...........peaceful

  • @PrototypeAndroid .... You are quite right, it's distracting, it's the music I want to hear, not your lousy bad tempered remarks, keep them to yourselves, and don't be so bad mannered.,

  • sighhh...can we please just STOP talking about justin beieber? please..

  • Beautiful music. I like it. Listen here on Youtube: Robert Rossi "Rain and you". Enjoy.

  • When artists start creating gorgeous pieces of music without the use of studio help, then we can begin comparing.

  • Is it just me, or does this piano sound just a little out of tune?

  • Smh, I hate it when you guys complain about modern singer such as Lady Gaga, Rhianna, Eminem, ect. Look at it from my point of view. You can't truely appreciate music as a whole without beiang able to apprecitate all other generes that there are. Such as country, gosple, clasical, rap, hip-hop, pop, christian, and on and on. I might not like every sinlge genere but leat I respect the artists work and what he/she does. I spend half my time listening to classical and half of modern music!

  • @trp8155 Brilliantly put. I enjoy all types of music from Kanye West to this. It all just depends what kind of mood you're in, or what you're doing. Justin Beiber doesn't count as music.

  • @Malkintosh Yeah I don't like Justin Bieber either. But I still appreciate his music and everything he does.

  • @trp8155 Couldn't have said it better, I myself love Lady Gaga and other genres as well, and I love classical music too :)

  • @trp8155 if you really understood music you wouldn't think that any of those contemporary genres were comparable to Claude Debussy's reverie.

    p.s. work on your spelling

  • @whoanelleh Sigh, I hate people whom are trolls like you. Well, I never said that they were any better. I said that I listen to them equally and that I appreciate what they do. You obvioulsy got nothing out of what I said above. YOU don't have to like them. You might think they can't sing at all. But appreciate what they do. My previous comment said NOTHING about that I think modern singers are any better. I would much perfer listining to Debussy, Ravel, or any other classical

  • @trp8155

    >4 comments in reply to my one comment

trp8155 confirmed for psycho bitch. Either that or a 13 year old girl, most likely both. lol

my comment discusses equating or even comparing contemporary genres; not which one is better.

    "obvioulsy" "listining" "perfer"

p.s. you still need to work on your spelling <3

  • @whoanelleh Pieces such as this.

  • @whoanelleh Oh I almost forgot....

(P.S. Work on your punctuation, capitalization and quotation marks) :-)

  • @trp8155 the most sensible top comment i've seen in awhile. i agree completely

  • @trp8155

It's about time someone said this :)

  • @trp8155 YES

  • @trp8155 dude....shut up and listen the music...

  • @diegobagdarrel I would if everyone else did.. I would much perfer that than to arguing.

  • @trp8155 Christian music is infamously terrible. Gospel is better.

  • @trp8155 No, you're stupid, you shouldn't respect artists that are untalented and you don't need to appreciate other genres to appreciate good music. You're retarded, your spelling sucks, your syntax sucks, you suck, and you should probably never write again or try to express your false thoughts let alone project them onto other people, now go plant some trees then go drown in a well

  • @MrSkate4weed Jeez. A little tough there? I don't care that you don't agree with my opinion. But that's kindda harsh. i am not even going to argue with you about respecting the genres of other types of music... But you know what's weird? You are the second person to freak out that I spelled several words incorrectly. They obviously weren't misspelled to the point where you cannot tell what I am saying. So I don't really see the problem. Haters gonna hate.

  • @trp8155 yeah you're truly retarded, how did you find your way to this beautiful music? -rhetorical

  • @MrSkate4weed (1/2)That's rude. There really are mentally disabled people out there. last time i checked, I don't have down syndrome. I don't see how you can make such a cruel, rude judgement like that... But anyways, I don't really care if it's rhetorical. You wouldn't have said that if you don't want me to respond so I will. I discovered this because looking for more classical music was I ;). I think the way Debussy composes is absolutely amazing. This is one of the most

  • @MrSkate4weed soothing piseces ever! It's awesome. if you have anymore questions, I suggest that you ready my previous argument with whoanelleh not to far back.

(Please be more considerate when calling someone a retard. . No I am not tring to be a smart-butt. I am being serious.)

  • Cara ... essa musica meche cmg vey (elemento terra) ela meio que sei la lollll- vo treinar e fuma hehe .

  • eh pretty good but not in the same league as bieber

  • @soulseeker300 Exactly, this is better. ;)

  • @soulseeker300 bieber sucks, fyi.

  • @caitlyndstar Lol ya right next youll say britney spears sucks

  • Why are people making comparisons to this with Justin Bieber? They're two completely different genres and musicians.. Let's just appreciate Debaussy for the genius he is and leave it at that

  • @SomethingDarkForce Claude Debussy MERCI

  • wow, really you guys? just shut up and listen to the music

  • @PrototypeAndroid NO! MORE RAGE!

  • i want to download his music, but im having trouble finding a collection of his works if there is one. someone help me out aha

  • @headbangaboogie1 Google imslp Debussy, follow the links and there's a great free version there.

  • @phoenixkh93 thanks! i dont really listen to classical so i was a bit confused about the how the music is released and structured, this work is a "single" right? lol

  • To consider. My father was a history teacher his entire working life. When I was a kid I used to read Mad Magazine religiously and once one of my dad's co-workers saw me with one and said "why do you let him read that trash, it's a waste of time?"

My dad responded; at least he's reading.

Music takes many different forms, and the things I love today have no bearing on the stuff I liked as a kid other than the fact that they served as a bridge that got me here today.

    Crawl first, then run.

  • I love this song it is so relaxing and pretty and work of art.

  • DINK SMALLWOOD!!!

    omfg the memories :D

  • Talking down to someone is still talking about them. Thus, you are acknowledging them, further breathing life into their memories for all to see.

  • Who's Justin Bieber?

  • @utbronell

     he's Donny and Marie's son

  • I like how there is always a justin bieber comment and then a comment refuting justin bieber, I mean seriously, why not forgot about both aspects. I just enjoy what I love to hear, and think nothing more.

  • i like turtles. now lets listen to the music and stop arguing about a teenage girl.

  • Ya know what? I think I love Justin Bieber now just because all I ever hear about is how much he sucks. I kind of want to buy a justin bieber shirt and walk around and be like "yea you got a problem with this shit mothafucka?" to a bunch of music snobs

  • ETHER

  • great

  • GT FUCKING 4

  • This is Debussy. It's magical.

  • amazing

  • sublime, thankyou

  • Another excellent video/musical choice by Spadecaller - very well done. Chronological age is irrelevant to one's preference for music genres; I am now 60 and have loved Debussy since age 8. He lived from 8-22-1862 to 3-25-1918, & went to study music at Paris Conservatoire at age 10 - an obvious genius for anyone's time. He earned recognition as THE great French composer of his time.

  • A classic!

  • @happyghost2011

go away, u racist.u should bury urself in dust n die. by the way, wich one would it be the so scary n word?

  • @idis0abad

yeah, ur right, they r no musicians, but have u ever seen midnight in paris?if not, see it, as it seems to suit to u. :)

  • What a wonderfull video, thankyou for uploading, great job!

  • With all the crappy music that we hear on the radio today, it's easy to think that music has degraded in quality since Claude's time. However, remember that he was an exceptional composer for his time as well as in history. In his time they had awful music just the same as they do now, just that it didn't survive.

  • @darthjoey13 What a shame I can only give the thumbs up to a comment only once!

  • justin Bieber ? what's that thing ?? and why is this name said in this sacred place ?? :)

  • Such a great piece that I will listen to it in 2 decades in a row and never get tired of it.

  • i have an idea, why don't people start thumbing up other comments beside the generic pop star ones, because i don't see any of them on this page, i don't hear any of them on this page. don't think about them and just respect and enjoy the music you came here to listen to. jeez.

  • It is the most genious and beautiful thing I ever heard.

  • In my oppinion this version is alot better than this one: watch?v=y5ot-88UV-Y&feature=related

  • Happy birthday Claude, born this day August 22, 1862. A good name for someone who I listen to on my i-pod while laying back on the grass and watching the clouds in the sky.

  • @Grisostomo06 my birthday too! very honored to be sharing the day with an amazing composer. :)

  • Does the video matter?

Close your eyes and lose yourself in the music.

I for one wish I had one ounce of the talent it takes to play this.

Music is made for the ears to talk to the soul.

  • if you like this piece you might like my latest piano composition. Search "la jeune fille austin" and click first video. I hope it moves you in some way

  • 2:55?

  • Debussy wrote such beautiful music.

  • Everyone is going to remember that guy's name for ALL TIME because you people never shut up about him. I bet you he becomes a mythical God to the next civilisation to rise and discover our remains, and you will be to blame.

  • Seriously the work of Debussy has lasted for over 100 years and will go on forever, to think, true art lasts forever.

  • Debussy ♥

  • Uh... I'm a 14 year old teenage girl, and I even know Justin Beiber comments shouldn't be on this video. This is classical music, not stupid music.-_-

  • @emilypinnell123 Sorry to be "that guy," but this is actually not classical music. It is from the late romantic era;)

  • @smitha848 ah, same difference. bahaha :)

  • @emilypinnell123 a 14 year old girl who... knows? THERE'S STILL HOPE FOR THIS WORLD.

  • @LordxHasta How about an 18 year old who only listens to music that has some heart to it?

God I can't listen to this music enough when writing my book.

  • @Metroid22540 That's good, but where will you find a 14 year old girl who doesn't like JB?

  • my favorite by debussy!

  • how dare they mention te name of beiber on herethis is sheer genious anso beauti fulthank you from mythras90x

  • Here's the thing. Everyone in this comment section obviously knows who Debussy is, otherwise they wouldn't be here, but how long ago did he live? He was born in the mid 1800s, right? So, approximately 150 years ago. Does anyone here think that, in 150 years, anyone will remember the name of Justin Bieber?

  • @Cereghini Who is Justin Bieber ?

  • @0ldb1ll

    Exactly.

  • @Cereghini

I very much doubt it...at least I hope that would be the case, if it is the unfortunate case that I am wrong, I would hate to say what we consider as music and art in a 150 years...*shudder*

  • @tiaramizu

The results would be terrible beyond belief, and so, if it is the case that Bieber will be remembered in 150 years, I'm happy that I won't be around to have to deal with the consequences.

  • @Cereghini mayb as the worst singer on earth. but only for that reason if any at all

  • @livin4thealmighty

Technically that would be the only reason I can think of for him being remembered. Nothing he's done with music is ground-breaking enough to be remembered for any other reason.

  • @Cereghini of course not, and I agree with that!

I mean...c'mon, pop music it's just that...I doubt anyone here will remember the hit songs on the radio 10 years ago, but certainly if you do like classical music, you'll see that generations pass, but the composer's names never fades, just like Einstein was to physics, Lavoisier to chemistry, and Atari2600 to videogames xD

  • @matheus3233

Very good comparissons, my friend. XD But I do agree with your general theory. I mean, systems like the Sega Genesis were absolute crap compared to what we have now, but the games themselves were classics. That's why the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has lasted so long, and why the Streetfighter games are still famous as well (that was for SNES, but you get the picture). Old things can be better than new things sometimes.

  • @Cereghini my thoughts exactly, once again! =D

well, even now Street Fighter is a big franchise, just like Need for Speed, King of Fighters, Tales of...too bad it's just the same formula repeating year over year, but back then it was pretty awesome, I spent tons of coins in those arcade games ><

...wait, I think I'm detouring the subject here..xP

oh well, guess I'll check some Bazzini now ^^

  • @matheus3233

Never heard of Bazzini. Is he another Classical guy? Is he as good as Debussy?

The good thing about the retro games is that, back when the franchises were first created, they were something entirely new, and not a recycled idea. Nowadays it's like everyone is picking up everyone else's old scraps, and even though that's not necessarily a bad thing in some cases, it can get a bit boring due to lack of novelty.

  • @Cereghini you bet he is! he's a violinist, but one of the greatests in the 19th century n_n

and, if I may add, not only games...nowadays it's pretty much anything...even movies, now the hit of the moment is 3D..so they just make a regular movie adding some cheesy "coming at ya!" scenes for the 3D and convert..voila, there's your modern movie (of course, there are great 3D movies aside from Avatar, but it's rare)

try searching on YT and click the first video...it's a cover by Perlman himself ^^

  • @matheus3233

My problem is that I'm blind in my left eye (so I don't have depth perception), and so 3-D doesn't actually work for me. I never go to 3-D movies because I would have to pay for the glasses that wouldn't work anyway. My best friend has the same problem, but she's completely blind, so it's even worse for her.

I'll search that. Thanks for the recommendation.

  • @Cereghini most likely yes

  • @fitzay32

Ouch. I do NOT want to think of where our society is heading if JB will still be remembered in 150 years.

  • @Cereghini hahaha even here you guys diss justin bieber. i only thought it was us rockers that did that! :D

  • @flummapa

Oh, a rocker, are we? Awesome. I don't mind rock music myself. Mainly classic rock though, like the Beatles and Queen and Led Zeppelin. I like a huge variety of music, so it's not just Debbusy. Actually, I usually listen to his stuff when I'm doing homework because it helps me concentrate.

  • @Cereghini HELL NO!

  • @TerryComo2010

    Didn't think so. :-)

  • @Cereghini You miss understood me. I agreed with you!

  • @TerryComo2010

No no, I know you were agreeing with me. I said "didn't think so" in reference to not thinking that Bieber would be remembered.

  • @Cereghini Justin Bieber is fading even now...it's not whether he will be remembered in 150 years - he won't even be much recalled in 5 years. It's like Avril Lavigne, - 5 years ago she was "it" - now she plays to 3/4 full auditoriums.

  • @piehole23

I know, and that's nothing if not a good thing. He didn't even deserve the small time he got in the spotlight, so I hope the little twerp is grateful for his good fortune, because it won't return.

  • @Cereghini News just in! People like you are the reason he's famous!

  • @IshouldntbeonUtube

You sure about that there, honey? I've never watched a single one of his videos. Then again, I suppose that bad publicity is better than no publicity, so in a sense you're right. It's not like I'm handing the little twerp more money by buying one of his albums though, so I'm not as bad as his actual fans. Ugh, WHY does he have fans? Explain this to me.

  • @Cereghini I don't feel like doing a sociology paper on how Bieber rose to fame, but I can be pretty damn certain that youtube was the biggest influence in the spread of his name. I don't even think the beatles were as widley known amoungst the world as Bieber is right now. And take into account that I did not say as popular, because fame and popularity are two very different things.

  • @Cereghini OJ simpson is famous, but is he popular? God I hope not. You may be ruining his popularity, but in the proccess you're making him famous. Think as you must, the cultural effect of Bieber is going to be remembered for at least a decade.

  • @IshouldntbeonUtube

Yes, but there's also a difference between famous and infamous. I think Bieber is more infamous, and it's a good thing too, because it means that people have higher standards than the music industry in general, since they're the ones perpetuating this crap. I'm a Canadian, and I can't hate that boy enough for ruining my country's reputation when it comes to music. All I can say is, thank God for Michael Buble and Our Lady Peace. You know, the GOOD Canadian music.

  • @Cereghini Dear God, I hope not.

  • Lo amo estoy seriamente dejar a chopin y declararmele a debussy aaa siii !!!

  • Nice, an Rx for the moment :)

  • @sp69ky88 You are insulting Debussy as well by putting him with some random guy in the same line...

  • god is so magnificent, i know that debussy saw that splendor and he reflected it in his music. polskapianist

  • @polskapianist you're probably right, even if i don't know about his devotion to god... but i hate the "art of noise" album named "the seduction of claude debussy" in which we hear people saying Debussy didn't believe in god or so... Who are they to know about what Debussy believed or not? He made a wonderful music and that's all i want to know

  • I hate when high-rated (top) comments are about FUCKNIG Justin Biber! I don't give a damn about him and his music! -.-'.

When it will stop?!?! It's driving me crazy! Really!!! AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

And how can you even think about him when you're listening to classical music? Can anybobdy explain that to me?

  • @mightymetalka

Wow, I feel just the same... I hate how the Justin Bieber haters bring up his name everywhere over the fucking internet... When will they realize they're just helping him?!?!???? I'm sick of the haters and sick of the fans... I couldn't care less about Justin Bieber, or well, I'd LIKE to not care at all about him, but those "haters" are making it really really difficult....

    Claude Debussy video.... my god.......

Who's Justin Bieber again? Never heard of him.

  • @mightymetalka It doesn kind of suck that I read that comment before I could really settle into the music because now I'm just thinking about him and his stupid lesbian hair cut. Thanks youtube, you never cease to amaze me!

  • @mightymetalka D: You've become what you hate!

  • @mightymetalka no es musica "clásica" (siglo XVIII), es del siglo XX (algunos la califican de música "impresionista".

Sino se le puede llamar música académica. Saludos!

  • @mightymetalka i like how u fuckn hate it and ur basicly on of the same fuckers who has the higherst rated comment with that bitchs name on it

  • @562ole Yes, you're right, I agree. But at least I didn't copy-paste comment about him... That is my one and only comment about that person, and I wrote it just because I was really pissed off... I couldn't just sit and watch it anymore, and don't say nothing...

Look at the comment that ''Cereqhini'' wrote. It has 60 thumbs up. Three months ago, both high-rated comments was about J.B. with maybe 100 and more thumbs up.

    And that means something...

  • @mightymetalka your comment is about justin bieber too...

  • @TheRickenbaugh So, you wanna say that I didn't knew what was I writing about?

Please, read my comment, my reply, down below to ''562ole''.

  • @mightymetalka Because Nicepeter did an Epic rap battle with Beethoven and Justin Bieber. Spoiler alert: Bieber gets smashed.

  • @mightymetalka People like that want to prove to everyone their superior musical tastes. The problem is, not liking Justin Bieber doesn't prove anything. Most anyone with a desire to listen to real music would never listen to Bieber all day.. Yea, seriously all you fucks mentioning him in every music video, who cares. I don't like him, you don't, leave it at that. Stop trying to feed you ego by bringing up some irrelevant opinion everyone agrees on.

  • @mightymetalka its getting really annoying how him and gaga are referenced on every damn video, the more you talk about them the more publicity they get, as opposed to shutting up and listening to this great piece

  • @mightymetalka it is simple...it is natural for us humans to hate...there were people who hated and hated on Gandhi. Who could hate Gandhi?

  • @mightymetalka The irony of this is, your comment is one of the top rated ones :) And it's about Justin Beiber. Oh dear :)

  • @phoenixkh93 My comment wasn't copy-paste comment about him in hope that I would end as one of the top rated comments. It was my opinion. Like your comment was in that moment that you have wrote it to me. You had to reply me... Just like I had to wrote my opinion in that moment.

And actually when I had wrote the comment I knew that this is gonna hapen. I recieve a comment like yours from this video almos every day.

Greetings and best wishes! Enjoy in this music... :)

  • @mightymetalka: You thought of him?

  • @02bft Yes, like you are. I was forced to think on him when I readed two top-rated comments about him.

  • That was beautiful =, )

  • Debussy was a visionary.

La Mer, or Au Clair de Lune.

    Modern beyond belief.

  • to see my latest piano composition search "Ballade of the stars". Click on first video. I hope it moves you in some way

  • uncredible, it's a dream, a Reverie.

  • Only music would convey such fleeting sensation.

  • Dink Smallwood. Need I say more.

  • @GNARGOON I think it's a torture instrument, not sure though....

  • @beautubestar Hahaha it indeed is.

  • if you like this check out this guy. type in niall tormey i love the moonlight. and just lisen :-)

  • I originally discovered Debussy from the game NOX (soundtrack) 10 years ago and have been listening to his pieces ever since.

  • hermozo!

  • amazing...

  • amazing........

  • I'm a hip hop junkie, but there's just something about Debussy's music. So beautiful.

  • Reading the comments, I just wish everybody could put their differences aside and live peacefully.

  • my sister plays a piano, nd i addmit its a bit anoying ,but Debussy i could listen all day ... its so relaxing :) ...

  • how could u not like this......? it's so amazing..

  • How can you not love thi
