My names edward, I am a hunter and shooter from the great state of kansas (born in north carolina). Recently I broke my right thumb quite badly and the thing i miss most is shooting (as I cant do any of it with this cast). The closest thing i have to actual trigger time is this and a few other "gun review" channels. Thank you for what you do!

  • In a quality magazine you don't need to worry about spring compression like Magpul. The milsurplus and GI mags will wear out over time

  • Comment removed

  • great channel sir! your teaching me a lot

  • Hey sootch! is it legal to own a 5.56 m4A1, m16A3 or ar15?

  • @navyseals578 Well mostly any gun is legal just depends on what your ready to go through to get it.

  • Load all the mags you own and Sony worry about it.

  • if your ammo isnt in mags it should be on strippers, leaving ammo in boxes makes no sence to me

  • i swear this guy thinks theres going to be a zombie apocalypse any day now :P "You always need a minimum of 1000 rds" "always have them loaded in case your under high stress" "you never know what situation will come up"

really, what "situation" is going to come up were your going to need an AR15 and over 1000 rds of ammunition???

  • @WHENtimeHASrunOUT Look at Katrina. In under 48 hours it went from civil society to WROL (without rule of law). Police were gone and thugs were shooting people for HS tv sets and food.

This can happen anywhere it just takes a big enough event. Such events could be, biological disaster, natural disaster, terrorist attack.

It also depends on where you live. I get the feeling sootch00 is a little more isolated than a urban dweller.

You never know and we like to be prepared.

  • I'm wondering what this gentleman's experience is with the Millitary? Any opinions vs the Ruger Mini 14/ M4/ AR-15

  • @spookypunky: the mini14 is built from the same action of the M-1 Garrand, proven reliability. The mini 14 receiver is machined from a block of solid steel, stronger than the ar in my opinion. Some ar lovers will say the mini is not as accurate, well, that depends on the handler.

  • federal .556, 420 rounds, already on clips and in boxes, all in rubber gasket type ammo can...$180.00. comes with the charger attachment.

    saves alot of time.

  • Nice Vid ,

But do you carry your AR15 everywhere you go ? I mean like going out with wifey and the kids into movies ? or into a restaurants ? What if somebody tries to take you out there ? what are you gonna do with all that ready to shoot ammunition then ?

  • @doublecheese1 Concealed carry permit, look it up. Not an AR15 but a handgun works just fine.

  • @doublecheese1 naaw he just carries a few grenades and a .44 in his pockets pfft who needs room for a cell phone...

  • Thermold also makes 30 rd Mini 14 Mags and as such the loaders and stripper clip system can be used on Mini 14 mags, including Ruger factory Mags.

Back in the early 90s I also aquired from thermold a collapsible mag for the AR 15 that will store 30 rds indefinatly or can be loaded to hold 45 rds.

  • The second Loader you showed ( the black one) is made by Thermold ( it is Thermold, not Thermalmold) and the so are the black stripper clips. I aquired these in the early 90s and as an added bonus the black stipper clips are also a solid fuel and can be burned as such. The military surplus bandoliers I aquired have 7 pockets and hold 140rds each. I store my ammo in stripper clips, in bandoliers, inside the same ammo cans. But I also have large dessicant bags in each ammo can.

  • I guess I'm trying to visualize the scenero where you need so much ammo and are going through mag after mag - is it against looters or police / military etc? and it seems that if is against military or police , they'd out number and out gun you by shear force - so I can't picture the scene unless it is just a fire-fight to the blazing glory of defiance to the end ?

  • @rolynstone48 better to have and not need it than to need it and not have it

  • I am just throwing this out there but the 5.56 was designed to be a wounding round! But shot placement is everything if you actually are worried about killing people back here in the states in home defense or SHTF situation who your up against is most likely not going to be full of adrenalin and will not pose an immediate threat after the first shot you can re-asses and take another if needed. The round was also made for easy transport making it a good SHTF round with good range and accuracy.

  • dsgarms.com sells 1000 round pack of Fiocci 55gr .223 ammo for ~$330, a great investment

  • got plenty myself...ready for any raghead trying anykind of shit here in the good ol USA.

  • @usaeagle1776 you should be more worried about your fellow american than a raghead thousands of miles away

  • @sourcemaster Hmmm,I suppose that was what all those dead soldiers thought at Fort Hood, and the other numbskull awol soldier they just arrested who wanted to do the same thing. Or the one who killed those soldiers in Little Rock,AR and of course those on 9/11. all muslims, and muslims converts. Like in Dearborn MI which is now nothing more then a Muslim conclave operating completely separate from our laws and Constitution. So, yeah... I will stand by my original comment. You do what you want.

  • @usaeagle1776 most mass shootings and what not aren't done by Islamic extremists, and when/if shit hits the fan don't be surprised when your dear fellow American wants to take your goods. And about 9/11, I don't think you can carry guns on airplanes unless you're a Marshall, so ok whatever.

  • @sourcemaster :did not say anything about carrying guns on airplanes. I will take my chances with my fellow americans, not with ragheads though. Your comment said to worry about americans instead of ragheads thousands of miles away, well those ragheads are already here. And I am ready for them. How about you?

  • @usaeagle1776 yes, lets hope you're there at the nuclear power plant with your hundreds/thousands of rounds of ammunition to prevent a bomb from being planted like a game of counter-strike

  • @sourcemaster Lets hope we dont have moron minions like you in the way. since you obviously haven't shown you have a clue of what you are talking about in any of your comments.

  • @usaeagle1776 alright dumbass

  • @sourcemaster very well smartass.

  • Do you really think you need 120 rounds? yeah i hear you need to protect yourself. If you need 120 rounds in a scenario, you'll be dead before you get off 60 with semi-auto.

  • @davidhlusko Infantrymen typically carry more...read up on it. 120 rounds is not crazy at all.

  • @sourcemaster No shit huh? They have a Rifle Company with them, and are probably in a MAGTF, and can request JDAM or arty. I'm saying that 120 rounds for personal defense is overkill. you won't get that far along by yourself. if you think otherwise you've never seen any combat and never will. And don't call them Infantry men. Infantry is an Occupational Field, you are probably thinking of Rifleman specifically.

  • @davidhlusko Have you ever considered the thought that 120 rounds isn't just for one single personal defense scenario? And don't call them infantrymen? lol, I'm speaking in a general sense using a general term for all professional armies of the world. Don't get so mad.

  • @sourcemaster i didn't get mad. i corrected you. if you really think that he will need 120 rounds when he has a SEMI-automatic weapon, go back to civilian life. If he needs 120 he won't get 60 off. secondly, if he has it for personal defense it should also be a pistol. pistols are your ideal CQB weapons. a Semi-Auto AR-15 doesn't have the stopping power or the firepower.

  • @davidhlusko Corrected me how exactly? And why don't you google some combat videos and you'll see many of the riflemen not even utilizing their burst fire capability, but fire by semi auto (Not only American troops do this either). And "personal defense" doesn't just mean getting snuck up on while in your own home. It could be mean for when you're outside, not just inside your house. And lastly, "go back to civilian life" lol, get off your pedestal.

  • @sourcemaster why would i google it when i was at MCT? Google is alot like Wikipedia, where as the first link is always the person that pays the most. And once again you are wrong we have selective fire of semi and fully, and we burst on fully auto the only time we actually are firing on semi auto is when we are doing marksmanship. oh and if you're outside that means you really only have concealment and no cover. you'll die quicker. But i guess someone who has first hand experience wouldnt know?

  • @davidhlusko How do you compare combat videos to Wikipedia when its actual footage, not something that is written or typed. And when I said being outside, I didn't say stand out in the open like a dumb ass as you would imply. And most Marines use the M16A4 which has semi auto or burst. And most of the videos out there show not just Marines, but others that don't utilize auto or burst with their rifles, but semi auto. And personal accounts from many vets testify to this.

  • @sourcemaster I honestly don't know if you read my statement. and secondly as i said, I HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE. and secondly no if you are in an ICB, you have a modified M16 which is semi and Fully. i would find it illogical to say just because in Bootcamp i used an m16a4 that DID have semi and burst that it actually means something in combat. You still don't just fire fully auto at everything that moves, emptying your mags, you still will you it in burst. But for CQB you need a fully auto.

  • @davidhlusko I am just saying semi auto is FINE for most situations (as shown by combat videos not wikipedia), and seeing as most civilians can't own automatic weapons...you see where I'm going with this?

  • @sourcemaster anyone can own one legally it is just so expensive. An Ak (without the license and tax) can cost 3 grand +. Yeah and i prefer semi auto until i have to breach a room. I don't trust a 5.56 round to put someone down on the first shot.

  • @davidhlusko Oh yeah man I know, I should have said "don't own" instead of "can't own". and get em devil dog, peace out

  • @sourcemaster Oorah Bro.

  • @davidhlusko don't trust the 5.56?? probably because you have no experience with it and have never seen it in action

  • @bearsfan1294 I've probably fired more 5.56 than you have ever fired cumulatively. Since you have never had CQB training, you miss your shot or the first one doesn't disable him, everyone is dead. Look up SWAT CQB videos, they are the same doctrine Marines and the Army will use. If you don't do your job that costs everyone their lives. My point was more of, "I don't trust Semi automatic to make the kill" and burst isn't the same as fully.

  • @bearsfan1294 I've seen it in action, it took 6 rounds of 5.56 to take down a charging Taliban, now out of those 6 shots 2 where to the head. it took 4 shots tot he body and 4 to the head, that's 5 shots to many. 7 months later I was sick of that 5.56 so I ended up using my 7.62, one shot one kill every time. The 7.62 even had the ability to kill 2 people with one shot. I have yet to hear about a 5.56 being able to kill up close and also out at 800 yards. One shot one kill, no more.

  • @adamslurch71 come on man your bogus claims are just making you look stupid

  • @bearsfan1294 Just b/c you can't believe something like that happening doesn't mean its bogus. That's your opinion, If you have ever spent anytime in the military you would find out that over all the 5.56 is not that loved, its under-powered and takes to many shots to disable a target. mean while we are being shot at by AK47's which our armor isn't made to stop.

  • @adamslurch71 You give way to much credit to the 7.62, but you're right about the 5.56 being a pussy round.

  • @ThatHaloGuy117 I love the 7.62x51 so much b/c I know how the flight path changes with heat humidity and wind, I grew up hunting deer and since I was 9 years old I have shot one rifle or another chambered in that round. I will admit that I dont know as much about the 5.56 but I dont want to trust a round with my life thats smaller and cant keep from tumbling as soon as it hits something.

  • @ThatHaloGuy117 It is not a pussy round if one knows how to hit his mark every shot if a SF team is able to eliminate a sizable threat using 5.56 is it not one that can be used well with proper training bigger is not always better lower sound despoils light weight systems and rounds make any 5.56 a better choice than a .308 rifle "ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain" go run/walk with your .308 several miles up hill and you will find out energy is as important as stoping power is to you now

  • Respond to this video... By the way if you where planing on using .308 as a SHTF gun without a suppressor and no ear protection that is a terrible idea unless of corse you have hearing protection on at all times and of corse you will say no i wouldn't well if one is to survive one would need more than ur self so hearing loss would put you in a great disadvantage to those who had chosen the 5.56 if you think you can handle this know the VA hospitals biggest issue is hearing loss Intel over power

  • wait, who makes magazines in Wilson N.C.? i'm in Rocky Mount and had absolutely no idea where a weapons accessories company was located in Wilson...i guess you learn somethin' new everyday lol

  • Sootch, I currently store my ammo in military ammo cans like you but I have been leaving the rounds in the factory boxes unopened. I have a good supply of stripper clips and bandoleers but keep them stored separately. I like your idea of placing the rounds on stripper clips in the bandoleers and sealing them in the cans. Is there any research showing if there are corrosion problems with the brass against the stripper clips over the long term?

  • Much respect and appreciation for posting such useful info !!!

    thanks

  • THE FACT THAT ANYONE CAN BUY ENOUGH 223 TO STORE IT ANYMORE IS CRAZY. U WOULD HAVE TO BE FUCKIN DONALD TRUMP RICH TO BE A GOOD CENTERFIRE MARKSMAN THESE DAYS. I USED TO BE ABLE TO GET A 1000RD BOX FOR $89. WHEN WAS THAT DAY, THE FUCKIN DAY BEFORE WE WENT ON OUR LITTLE QUEST TO FIND BINLADEN THAT SHOULD HAVE ONLY LASTED 3 MONTHS. I ACTUALLY THINK ITS CHEAPER TO FLY TO RUSSIA NOW FOR $1000 AND SEND BACK A FEW 100LBS OF AMMO AND FLY BACK THAN TO BUY THE SAME AMMOUNT HERE

  • oh shit! this vid just inspired me to do an inventory of my 5.56 ammo.... I've dropped to 1620 rds. (not counting the 8 mags in my vest, but I don't count that).

some may see that statement as "bragging", I see it as being DESPERATELY low on ammo. too many range trips without replenishing my stock. what's really scary is that I just bought a 400 rd. Lake City can a few days ago, and that was counted in my inventory. that means I WAS down to 1220. I'm keeping a closer eye on it from now on.

  • @NOLA556 I agree with Sootch that 1,000 rounds is the minimum, so yes, getting down to 1220 definitely means time to start looking for sales. ;-) Currently, I have 4,500 rounds of .223/5.56(a mix of M193, M855, and hollow points). I also have 9,000 rounds of .22LR for my pistol.(I also plan on getting a 22LR rifle sometime).

  • @SirReptitious

holy crap dude, I'd be the happiest SOB on earth to be up to 4500! hah..

I built it back up to around 2400 since the comment that you're responding to, about half/half m193/m855.

I also have a couple thousand rounds worth of reloading components if I'd ever get off my ass and load them...

  • @NOLA556 I just watch the page on AR-15 com where people post current deals they have found. Whenever I saw a good one, I would order 500 or 1,000. Last time I bought was when The Armory had ATI SS109(same as M855) for $260/990 rounds(because they pack 30 per box instead of 20). $280 including shipping. It's from a NATO certified plant in Turkey, so I assume it's decent ammo(haven't shot it yet). So yeah, when you buy on sale but hardly ever go shoot, it's easy to build up a stockpile. LOL!

  • @NOLA556 As for reloading, I have heard so many contradictory things about it. That you have to buy a lot of expensive equipment, it takes a long time to do it(and do it WELL), that you don't end up saving much money in the end, etc. So all I do is save my brass in case I meet someone who might want to buy/trade it off of me. Not that I have much empty brass yet, since I only got my AR-15 in 2009 and haven't shot it that much. BTW, glad to hear you have doubled your stockpile since before! :-D

  • @SirReptitious

lol, no man, I already reload. I just need to get off my lazy butt and reload the shells I have! hah.

  • You can be my wingman any day, brother

  • Hey you forgot about 10 round magazine, oh i forgot you live in a free state.

  • i also own a AR15 but i was wondering would the springs in the mag wear out if you keep the bullets in there for too long to the point where it doesnt function anymore?

  • Not having an AR is a sad feeling =(

  • because i was in the military 10th mtn div for a while and have extensive use of surplus ammo its not corrosive brother.

  • does .223 Surplus rounds have corrosive primers?

  • @Umimugo. NO

  • @fivefourfiveX39 how would you know?

  • ENVY!!!!!!!

  • does that loader work on a mini 14 mag?

  • @kaakashi86 They make a Mini14 specific setup.

  • good info

  • 1 ammo can filled with 800 .223 55 grain rounds... how much weight is that can?

  • Can u send me some m16 bullets plz im a fan

  • i' ve kept 30rd m1 carbine mags loaded with 28 rds since 1984, they still shoot fine, honst, no issues at all. i keep pmags loaded with 25rds, no issues however i havnt had em very long. they definately feed, fit, function best in my mp15.

  • where can i buy a clip? and not the magazine... the clip to reload the magazine?

  • with a situation you mean a burglar or something alike?

  • i don't like the ar/m16 style rifle because the bullet is to small not enough energy with it and when the m16 was first issued to us troops it was a horror whole platoons were killed because their rifles jammed on them and the soldiers had to use them as clubs they were so bad the nva did not want them

  • @crazycrackergabe As for energy, if i can put a 223 round thorugh a kevlar vest at 770 yards, thats plenty of energy. As for jamming, you dont know what your talking about clearly, the AR rifle is the easiest rifle to field strip and clean.Mine has neeeevr jammed. And the AR is always going to be more accurate and easier to control than an AK. do some research instead of taking what saw in a fukin vietnam movie.

  • @ProllySmokin i am not speaking on a movie the rifle was pushed to fast hell it took them 5 years and a investigation and thousands of lives lost to figure out what was wrong. and dumbass a kevlar vest is not designed to take hits from high powered rifles.

  • @crazycrackergabe You dont know shit kiddo, it was a level 3 kevlar vest. Meant to stop everything but high powered rifles. And a high powered rifle as in a 308, The ceramic plates im issued in my unit are meant to stop 308. And you dont this AR's have been upgraded since fuckin vietnam? were issued C7`s, and i own a remington R-15 personally. Im not going to listen to some dumbkid with no training and who has prolbably never shot a rifle. go play some video games

  • @ProllySmokin ok then what branch are you in and what is your mos

  • Those plastic clips and charger and what we use in the canadian forces instead of the metal ones

  • Magpul says to not keep your PMAGS loaded.

  • If the minimum amount of rounds is 1000, what is the minimum amount of toilet paper rolls?

  • Why don't you have the ammo out the box you can store a lot more. Buy great vids sir.

  • Never knew about stripper clips....learn something everyday :)

  • HOLY.... SHIT... THAT IS AN UNESSECARILY MOUNTAINOUS AMOUNT OF AMMO EVEN OLDIERS DONT NEED THAT MUCH!

  • Nice vid. Been a sub for some time. Do you know of any shops that will send stripperclips to norway? There is no "culture" for those clips here and theyr not be found. I got the AR-15, magazines, loader and ammo...but no stripper sets. Thanks and keep em vids coming.

  • I want 12 Strippers

  • I don't know why you would ever need that much ammunition ready to go...but it sure will help.

  • what about storing the fucking ammo in your ass, stupid Americans

  • @StopWIN Dont worry, that rifle can put some ammo in your ass at 2900 ft/sec. Your third world ass country will love the U.S. when you get flooded or an earthquake or some stronger country with balls comes and takes your shit over and we come save your pathetic ass. Go fuck yourself troll.

  • @usmcboyer Stopwin lives in germany, germany is a welthier and richer counrty then fcking america you redneck retard. everybody i know thinks americans are dumb cows. everybody hates america and you guys are so retarded that you don,y even realize that

  • @scorpionsnow1 Im in Germany you dumb fuck. Im looking out the window at Pariser Platz lol. So now your feel fucking stupid. Oh, go plow the snow off your roads you under developed nazis. And salt the roads too. Nobody likes zee Germans because they are ignorant and narrow minded.

  • @usmcboyer i live in Nederland du arschlog, berlin is a shithole indeed, but the rest of deutschland isn,t so crappy you schwul

  • muhahaha... no words, educate yourself, dude.

And I don't know what is your problem with my country, I was only referring to "Stupid Americans", not all (and btw of course only to US Americans). Be assured that there are a lot of intelligent people in your country but and that goes for all of them, they are not storing any ammo for any weapon.

  • @StopWIN I don't undersand? Are you saying Americans do not store ammo for their weapons? Don't come out and make comments such as "what about storing the fucking ammo in your ass, stupid Americans" and not expect someone to say something. There are stupid people everywhere, God knows America is not all smart people (just look at our government). Don't fucking come at my country and talk shit with your left wing euro thoughts. If you have opinons, cool. But post them where people care.

  • @usmcboyer First of, America is not the US, so the term, Stupid Americans shouldn't bother you at all as long as you aren't stupid. I bet it wouldn't bother you if I had used the term black people. The second point is, I am saying intelligent people in most cases don't see a necessary point to store ammo. Storing ammo and collecting rifles do only make sense in case you want to kill somebody. Spending money to put your children in danger and yourself to death is stupid => Stupid Americans!

  • @usmcboyer face it, the government is voted by the people. I cannot hear it anymore, always when something is going wrong with the US and their wars, people blame the government they've recently voted. And if nothing else helps, people are starting to speak about God.

My opinion is, if your government sucks, do something. There is no fucking God that helps you. A lot of facts are so obvious to the non-US world, that people wonder how an intelligent person can vote such idiots.

  • @StopWIN it goes back to the stupid people when you speak about who gets voted into office. And you nasty euro cock sucking fags obviously dont believe in God, otherwise you would have morals. You should look at your country a bit, and think back a couple decades. Remember who built your country back up from the dust after we smashed it to the dirt and kiss Americas ass you left wing euro hippy. You kids make me laugh a lot

  • @usmcboyer If you would know history you would know, that your country didn't give a fuck. They just let the war go on until pearl harbor. But you know what that is not your fail or mine. I am not responsible for things that have been done before I have been here. I am responsible for things I do, not for what I am. Not believing in God is preventing you from the believe that you send your dead enemies only to a second level. In fact this believes currently makes the biggest problems.

  • @usmcboyer and face it, you couldn't be a soldier if you wouldn't believe in life after death. You're country is playing with your believe. In Europe almost nobody wants to die for nothing, because there is nothing more than our lives. I know that there is nothing coming after death and because of that, I cannot kill people that never meant to harm me in the name of my country / that is what Germany learned and you guys never will.

  • @StopWIN bro, being a soldier (or marine) is not about life after death. its about service to something bigger. for most american military it is not a devotion to the government but a devotion to what our nation was founded on and the basic principles behind what America was founded on. many europeans and germans believe in that same dedication to their countries. if you dont, that is on you.

  • @usmcboyer to do a service to your country must involve questioning your own job and the duties included. There are people in your and in my country doing that. I do. And I question the necessity of private gun ownership anywhere in the world. To come back to this topic storing a lot of ammo just for the case makes only sense if you want to put yourself and others in danger, and that is exactly what happens in your country day by day by day. think about it.

  • @StopWIN how is storing ammo dangerous? how has storing ammo ever hurt someone? in fact i would be willing to bet that the majority of people who store ammo do it for two reasons. 1, they hunt, and provide for their family and enjoy it. or 2, they enjoy going to the range or on their property and shooting targets as a hobby. if some whacko wants to go crazy with a gun i dont think he or she is going to be too worried about storing ammo... they will just buy it and do their thing.

  • @StopWIN (CONT) and when he or she decides to go crazy and try to hurt innocent people, there will hopefully be someone who stores their ammo for defensive purposes somewhere very close to stop the crazy person. i get your point of view. but you need to understand the other side of the fence too. there is no arguing that the EXTREME VAST majority of gun owners in America are lawful, non crazy, regular people. to say anything other than that is stupid, narrow minded, and incorrect.

  • @usmcboyer Just read your comment Friend, and you said it!!! Awesome comment to that moron!!!

  • @usmcboyer Oh, we all know we do that once in a while.

  • How long will ammo last in plastic, sealed bags, store in the house? Thanks and great videos!

  • I'm looking to buy an AR-15 but Im on a cheap budget. What is the cheapest upper/lower/parts I could buy to build a very cheap AR 15?

  • @jkatz44 If you really want a "Cheap build", then I suggest you learn how to build your own ar-15 rifle. You can go to gun shows and get really good deals on uppers/lowers for sometimes $300. DPMS sells many spare parts that are inexpensive but reliable that will function in your AR-15. If you really shop out there you can build your own Ar-15 for about $600 that can be decently reliable. But if you want a Ar-15 alternative thats cheaper then I would go with a Kel Tec SU 16 or Mini-14.

  • @coldfire2227 although if you do go with a Kel-tec SU-16 or PLR-16 Do not use steel casing ammunition, its jam very often with steel casing ammunition

  • Good stuff. Excellent tip about the ammo cans....they are a greatly affective and cheap way to store all of your ammo!

  • I expected the guy to use some MagLula magazine loaders but he's reasonably prepared for anything on his budget.

  • wow...

the fact that americans "1000" rounds like a "situation" arises....

no wonder kids keep shooting up high schools...

  • @AstOnokReviews i dont think its the guns fault my friend. i think its the wack ass parents fault. if the parents werent to busy trying to catch up to the jones's then maybe they would pay attention to their damn kids grades and personalities. people have to understand that the school, TV, or video games arent supposed to raise your kids, the parents are. why dont you think about why you didnt shoot up a school. uhhh maybe because your parents would have beaten the shit out of you right.

  • @z28ace

uh no i didnt shoot up my school because im not a psychopath

  • @AstOnokReviews then you just answered your own question right dumbass. its not the guns fault its the mental instability of that person. stop blaming everything on guns and blame it on the people pulling the trigger. do you blame the car or the drunk driver when there is a drunk driving accident. do you blame the pen or pencil when you mispell a word. stop being a hippocrite.

  • @z28ace I don.t know whomyou were talking to , but I'm glad it wasn't me ...God bless ...

  • when the zombie apocalypse happens i'm coming to your house

  • whats the best way to store ammo i have a old gun safe not a cheap stack on its mead well i was thinekn abt maken shelfs an then putting it in there with a tube to help kee pit dry

  • Love your Videos Sootch00. Great practical advice!

  • 30 round magazines are illegal in the state of New Jersey.

  • do you prefer .223 over 5.56 nato? i dont know which to buy?

  • @cooleycat2 The military issues 5.56 Ball ammunition that would be plentiful if it were given to the general public. From a militant perspective I would suggest the 5.56 ... for short term storage & sporting you might want the .223.

  • That second black plastic loader is a generic NATO loader comes in a cans of Canadian 5.56 ball. Works great. Anyone in Nova Scotia have some surplus 5.56 they wanna get rid of.

  • the only way ive ever been able to destroy a spring in the last 30 years is to stretch it apart!!! ive never had any changes in any of my mags in 12 years because i kept them loaded! never! the path of least resistance is to compress a spring or pinch it smaller...all i know is having loaded mags has never damaged any of mine!! matter of fact the ones that i keep loaded in the safe have better tension than the ones i load and unload on a daily basis by shooting.. gravy train with biscuit wheels!

  • Only if I could

  • Ammo is the new gold...its price has nowhere to go but up.

  • I have 10 complete bandolier sets that I got at a yard sale for 10 bucks. all I need now is .223 and an AR and mags

  • @Wabaanimkii sounds like youve got the most important part!!! :) get an ak and shoot some koi!

  • @sootch00 Hey sootch I was wondering on your thoughts on keeping loose ammo in an ammo can? i need to save space and these boxes take up way to much, is that a bad idea?

  • @urbansurvivor101 I also keep a lot of ammo stored loose. I just like to have a good portion of it ready for fast loading. Thanks~

  • @sootch00 I've got strippers, loose, mags, boxed, and bandoleers.

  • hey sootch, great vids. I live in CA, and as you know here we are privileged *cough* of being restricted to 10 rd mags, and a bullet button if we want to have "evil features" on our AR's. I was wondering if you had any specific tips given the 10 rd mag dilemma in a firefight (i'm already planning on getting a few mags with couplers to make mag changes quicker) and just any general tips that we here in CA would have to take more notice of when owning an AR-15. thanks and keep on posting the vids

  • @Louis1012 When the Assault Weapons ban started in 1995, I bought around 100 AR-15 mags, but unlike CA. it wasn't illeagal to own them. Yes, I would buy double mag attachments and have an assault vest or battle belt with pouches for extras. You'll want a dump pouch for expended mags as well. Working on your mag changes or knowing your gear. Also having 10 rd Mil-Spec stripper clips would be a plus. Keep up the fight my friend~

  • @sootch00 thanks a lot man. Yeah i'm thinking about getting a couple 10/30 Pmags, GI issue, and a 10 rounder. Good idea on the dump pouch and tac vest. Where can I find the stripper clips and bandolier?

  • @Louis1012 Until you can legally use 20 round mags, practice switching the magazines till you can do it in the dark. Have a fresh one in hand, hit the eject, let it fall, and slam the next one in. If you are in so bad a situation that you need more than 10 rounds the last thing you want to do is take your eyes off the situation to catch a now empty and useless magazine. I have not seen a 10 round mag, I doubt they are long enough to tape them one facing up, one facing down. Eject and rotate.

  • @Louis1012 Dude just buy disassembled 30 rounders and assemble them when another country invades/zombies attack. It's legal to buy and keep as long as they are disassembled.

  • I personally throw in a dessicant pack in my ammo can to help soak up the moisture. Just a little added cheap insurance. :)

  • I kinda hate talking about storing ammunition, because it seems like there is no hope for keeping your guns supplied with the restrictions and costs. I guess I will have to resort eventually to reloading spent primers, match heads and melting down lead bullets.

  • where do you live?? that ammo is cheap..... Im in so cal, can someone tell me where to fing cheap ammo?? 9mm, 12 gage, .30-06, .223

  • i have my ammo in those military cans but without boxes, thats how i bought them at gun shows. is that fine or is it better to keep them within the cans with boxes?

  • @iagui004 I have a lot of 223 loose in cans as well and that's actually easier than boxes, but stripper clips makes it even faster to load into magazines without putting any stress on the springs. Thanks~

  • Noboma nobama!!!!!! That dirty niglit

  • Hi Sootch00!

Have used your revues for many of my purchases and trust your judgement!

I cannot afford an AR-15, but I have a Ruger Mini-14 that I have converted to Tactical, with mostly Tapco parts!

My question is: with my StripLULA, can I use the same standard GI stripper clips

    using Mini-14 magazines???

    Thanks, Pal!

    Laser

  • @hlaser88 Hey Laser, You should be able to use the basic stripper clips with the Lula. Thanks for the kind words~

  • @sootch00 where cna i find that m16/ar15 repak kit or even a cheap place to buy the whole striper clip all i have is my thums an mags lol

  • those 8 dislikes are demicarts

  • Because of you I bought 100 stripper clips and am in the process of loading 1,000 rounds into them. Enjoyed seeing you in the TNP All-Star shoot. Great videos, keep them coming.

  • @iwwqytv Good stuff! It feels good to be more prepared. When I come across a bandolier, I know I have quick access to my ammo. Thanks Bro~

  • sootch, where did you get the thermal mold mags? I would like to give them a try since you recommend, plus I only live about 25 min from wilson

  • @baseball27e I've had those mags for 15 years... I think I picked them up at a gun show. It would be great to see them being made.

  • check my vid out

  • NOBAMA NOBAMA NOBAMA!!! Thumb's me up if you agree.

  • That Malaysian surplus M193 seems to be some of the most common 5.56 ammo out there. I'm finding that stuff at just about every gun show that I go to. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it for $2.95 though. Around here it sells for about $8.00 per box.

  • Are those ammunition 5.56 or 6.8SPC

  • @TheSavage169 5.56 nato

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!! We sell the PMC for 7.50 a box and the M885 for 11 a box!!! dang, I wish we could still get it that cheap.

  • We are prepared to fight a zombie Apocalypse.

  • are those real lake city m855 green tips?

  • @rlh450rr Oh Yeah : )

  • Actually, you can get a AR-15 in full auto or SF, buy or modify it according to NFA (communist) rules. Except if you are in a team and need suppressing fire or in a particular instance that requires it, full auto is pretty much a waste of ammo. Or, if you have a lot of ammo and just want to have a lot of fun, and get it over with quickly, at the range.

  • Stripper clips are definitely the way to go. I use a Striplula but need to add a issue version loader to my kit, no moving parts, less bulk, less risk of breakage. Excellent tip on the bandoleer and cartons. In some situations you might not be able to manage the weight and bulk of a ammo can. Just grab a few bandoleers and go...

I recently bought some old new stock PMC (Poonsan Metal Co label) 5.56 for $5.95 a box. I don't see the prices coming down any time soon.

  • @snakeii0 $5.95 a box?! Jeez, I thought I was getting a good deal paying $13.00 a box for the same ammo here.

  • @MrShotgunjim The shop got them from some guy that had the ammo sitting around. It shows a bit of age on it, a little tarnished but still good M193. At first I bought a few, shot them to make sure it was still good, then I went back to buy what they had in stock. Unfortunately they only had 17 boxes left.

  • ar-15 vs m-16 can some one please tell me what the difference they look exactly the same.
