Today I ordered Mass Effect 3 for $47.99 on Newegg with their 20% off promo code. I know Amazon's main page said it was offering the M55 Argus Rifle for physical copy pre-orders, but made no mention of the AT12 Raider Shotgun. And Newegg made no mention at all of any pre-order bonus. Does anyone know whether or not the pre-order bonus is for all copies or just a select few?
These pre-order incentives frustrate me on some level. It's obvious that they're on the game disc at release, and are unlocked by putting in your pre-order code. So you're putting something in the game (most likely a superior weapon to what is otherwise available). Then you're locking it away from anyone who doesn't pre-order the game.
I understand why you do it (to secure sales), but it feels underhanded. So much so that I, for one, will actually refuse to pre-order just on principle alone.
Bioware, so you know, I wanted to preorder the collectors edition from Gamestop so it's not on there anymore. So I had to get it from Walmart So now I only get the Assault Rifle, and I play a Vanguard so it's useless. @BioYuGi Actually, If I remember, all the classes can use all the guns, but you can only have a certain amount. The only class able to carry all the weapons at once is the soldier, so that assault rifle still may be useful for you.

Yeah that's not what I meant. Regardless of who can use what, when you deployed you could only carry 1 of each class of weapon in ME2 and a spec weapon. Well unless you had the gamestop exclusive singularity gun which rocked in just about every situation except Insanity, some special weapons simply weren't effective for all situations. In addition, the single shot Mattock vs. the full auto Revenant had pros and cons, which made weapon lockers annoying when in ME1 i carried it ALL.

Guys, it's just a shotgun. They did the same thing with the M-29 Incisor sniper rifle for Mass Effect 2, and it wasn't even that good, but they released that for DLC. Calm down.

Bioware gets more money (from EA and other companies) to make better games (for us) if their projections (pre orders) are higher. Better games cost, in talent, time, and resources. You get what you pay for. Sure it would be nice to have longer games without DLC, but if Bioware needs more time and cash to add significant value to my game, then fine.

Maybe if shotguns hadn't been completely gayed up in ME2 so they were useless to all except Vanguard, I might have considered preordering from Origin. The videos look nice, but they're just cutscenes and not real gameplay footage. I really, really hated emptying my entire shotgun clip at a guy in ME2 from a relatively short-ish distance and taking a quarter of his health.
@picklepie159 They actually do look like gameplay footage, judging by the low-res textures. Of course, slow-motion and other effects have been used, but textures and animation is all gameplay by the looks of it.
Oh people please stop squealing. If anything be happy; I consider this video to be gameplay footage and I'm quite satisfied to be honest. The additions you get by pre-ordering the game at a certain location won't make you enjoy the game any more than you should be without them. It's eyecandy - a nice opportunity for those who will do anything to get extras and a treat for those who don't GIVE A FUCK and just wants to see Shepard in action.

To everyone who believe these pre-order bonus weapons is an EA ploy to get more money out of us ME fans and the people who believe these weapons will overpower the gameplay, need to realize 3 things: 1)If you feel that way don't pre-order the CE. 2)If you get the CE, don't use all the weapons, only use one. 3)If you get the CE, just throw away the codes. It's not like the weapons will be usable in MP, if they were then I would see the problem. I know this won't stop the whining but, I tried.
I wish Bioware gave more depth to female characters and made them realistics, ie not sex toys for Shepard. I mean I know this is weird in todays day and age, but why not make characters that have dignity instead of those you can get in bed with a little sweat talk.

As you probably can tell, I am a hardcore ME fan but have no means of pre-ordering the game. So I will probably have to buy all those things again, even though I have already paid lots of money for the game.

Look, I love Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Knights of the Old Republic (basically anything Bioware does), but DLC's are a way to make much more money. @HellzMercenaries VERY few fans are so diehard they'd buy two copies of a game for a single pre-order bonus. It'd be better business practice to release weapons packs as DLC for a few dollars. You're guarenteed to make more money on the thousands of people buying a 3-5 dollar DLC than the half dozen buying an extra copy.

Bioware gets more money (from EA and other companies) to make better games (for us) if their projections (pre orders) are higher. Better games cost, in talent, time, and resources. You get what you pay for. Sure it would be nice to have longer games without DLC, but if Bioware needs more time and cash to add significant value to my game, then fine.

Maybe if shotguns hadn't been completely gayed up in ME2 so they were useless to all except Vanguard, I might have considered preordering from Origin. The videos look nice, but they're just cutscenes and not real gameplay footage. I really, really hated emptying my entire shotgun clip at a guy in ME2 from a relatively short-ish distance and taking a quarter of his health.

Oh people please stop squealing. If anything be happy; I consider this video to be gameplay footage and I'm quite satisfied to be honest. The additions you get by pre-ordering the game at a certain location won't make you enjoy the game any more than you should be without them. It's eyecandy - a nice opportunity for those who will do anything to get extras and a treat for those who don't GIVE A FUCK and just wants to see Shepard in action.

To everyone who believe these pre-order bonus weapons is an EA ploy to get more money out of us ME fans and the people who believe these weapons will overpower the gameplay, need to realize 3 things: 1)If you feel that way don't pre-order the CE. 2)If you get the CE, don't use all the weapons, only use one. 3)If you get the CE, just throw away the codes. It's not like the weapons will be usable in MP, if they were then I would see the problem. I know this won't stop the whining but, I tried.

I wish Bioware gave more depth to female characters and made them realistics, ie not sex toys for Shepard. I mean I know this is weird in todays day and age, but why not make characters that have dignity instead of those you can get in bed with a little sweat talk.

I'd argue that they put all of their love into making it, we wouldn't enjoy it as much a we do if they didn't. The whole "business and marketing" side has nothing to do with their passion for their work.

As you probably can tell, I am a hardcore ME fan but have no means of pre-ordering the game. So I will probably have to buy all those things again, even though I have already paid lots of money for the game.

You still shouldn't go ripping on Bioware for giving bonuses to those who pay more. ME2 was still pretty complete, even if you didn't buy all the DLC's, and a good value overall.

Look, I love Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Knights of the Old Republic (basically anything Bioware does), but DLC's are a way to make much more money. But giving out extra weapons as bonus for pre-orders or releasing them and flipping costumes as DLC is pointless.
You should develop a better consumer awareness.
