@qelleri They didn't get any kills except for one Hip gunship. There's two reasons for this. 1. Tomcats had bomber escort duties and had to stick with the A-6s like glue. 2. Because of Iraq's experience of the Tomcat through the Iran/Iraq war they knew their radar signiture and their capabilities, so whenever the F-14s turned their radars at the Iraqi fighters they ran for it; either that or patroling F-15s & F-16s (who didn't have bomber escort duties) beat them to the kill.

Hiroshima had several military camps and a 2 army headquarters as well as logistics and supply, communications and troop assembly for the army. Nagasaki was very industrial and had one of the largest sea ports, a very important city which supplied ordnance, navy ships and other equipment.

That was the main reason to invade, wasn't to "steal" oil, but to keep it in being sold in US$. It's the first thing he did when Iraq was under American control.
So I'm not saying I agree with any of it, but if Saddam didn't do that there would be no war.
