persia was the name of the empire a few hundred years ago(persian empire) which was all of the middle east, parts of africa, some of easten and western asia and a bit of southern russia. belly dancing comes from the middle east so yes, it is persian dancing( there are many different types of dance styles, and belly-dancing is just one)

In an recent interview with Lea Salonga she said it had to be due to the magic carpet being on a fork lift. saying quote "every time the carpet would come on it was this (Whoosh Sound.). It would just go right into the microphones, so there was no way we could do it live. But, there were many game attempts"

Okay for everyone talking about Alladin being on Broadway. It is only considered being on Broadway if it is staged in the designated section of Broadway in Manhattan. So if it's playing or Seattle, Chicago, or Disney World it is not on Broadway. It is also not an "Off Broadway" production, because that still means it has to be done in New York. Im not "Trolling" (if that's what you guys are calling it nowdays), just letting everyone know.

@CarolinaGurl99 i think they intentionally rearranged "A Whole New World" to make it fit the setting, the streets of Agrabah at night. that's why they combined the original arrangement with the beat resembling "Arabian Nights".

in the move where the magic carpet takes Aladdin and Jasmine up in the clouds and swoop down to various majestic locations, the original arrangement complemented the scene with a mixed symphony of strings and wind instruments.

K honestly, Lea Solonga and Brad Kane can actually pull off their character's physical appearance. Lea is filipino (like me!) so she has the naturally darker skin, hair, eyes, in essence, the perfect Jasmine. And Brade Kane has the height [hopefully the "physicality" ;) ] and with makeup he can pull off Aladdin's face, he also has the PERFECT hair! I'd totally go see the broadway. Not because I love the movie but because I get to see the SINGERS LIVE!!! ARGH!! <3 <3
