Just over a year ago I was traveling from Florida to South Carolina and aproximately the same scenario happened to me. Traffic came to a halt. Sat there for about 1 and 1/2 hours. Finally there was a detour and it took about a half hour to 45 min thru a bunch of rural areas and a couple of small towns. All kinds of stuff went thru my mind. I too considered the FEMA camp scenario. I think these are drills for the real thing!!
