If you look at Dennis Rodman's story, it's almost the same as Hanamichi's...people underestimated him at first but he eventually became a force to be reckoned with in the hardcourt! Great story! =)))
@jan279 Inoue based Hanamichi in Rodman if you look closely almost every caracter is based in nba stars. Mitsui is Reggie Miller Akagi is Patrick Ewing Rukawa is Michael Jordan with his will to win
@9tails23 sendo is scottie pippen to me, a forward who can play the point guard position at ease. I don't know about sawakita would be Drexler cause of that finger roll technique he did to sakuragi.
@kimv020887 Yea you could also mention Allen Iverson who has 11 NBA allstars, who's your favourite player of all time I guess mine has to be MJ but I liked Denis Rodman because he was an interesting character :)
@CiaranVanDon also don't forget Alonzo Mourning, John Stockton, Larry Bird, Reggie Miller, Patrick Ewing, etc. I grew up with those guys plus other legends like Pete Maravich, Earl Monroe, etc.
@kimv020887 Yep 7 times NBA rebound champion during the 90s which is pretty awesome, he was one of the games best rebouders, so was Barkley, Ewing and Tim Duncan is pretty good rebounder :)
He's probably the most intense NBA player I have ever seen. I remember when he played for the Pistons and I was a Bulls fan. He would rip the Bulls' heart out by getting offensive rebounds at crucial times and giving his team another posession. I HATED him until he joined the Bulls, of course. :-)
I love it how he so personable that some people realise....that YES he IS an NBA professional basketball player....such a great athlete. a great sportsman, a great defender and a great player!
dennis rodman was trying to be dennis rodman. thats why hes a hall of famer. Ron artest is trying to be dennis..........thats why he changed his name to meta world peace
Great mix!!! Awesome player!!! loved to watch him play! This mix was acctually used in an ad on an Icelandic newspaper website. Rodman is coming to Iceland in October this year along with Tracey Murray and more, with the Ball Up team.
Rodman on the Pistons was a force of nature. He was still extremely effective on the Bulls, but he was too obsessed with rebounding at that point. He still did work in the post, but he didn't care at all about perimeter defense. Of course, the Bulls had Pippen and Jordan for that, so it didn't matter.
everyone these days says that the most unselfish players are those that get assists and make plays for their teammates. however i think that the most unselfish player is the player like Rodman who sacrificed his body for the good of the team every night, taking charges, diving for loose balls, never giving up on a rebound, and defending the other teams best player. all he wanted was his team to win.
@Chodahl1 yeah actually he didnt care if he doesnt score he said it in his interviews he is there to help his team win win win to play D and hustle rebound and entertain the crowd. only shows how truly rodman is a great player and HOF.
The Bull's don't win the last 3 titles without Rodman. He shut down Kemp in 96 who was one of the best Power forwards. And in 97 and 98 He took down Karl Malone who at the time was the greatest power forward who ever lived.
For me the best player ever.. Love his hustle and always watch his videos before playin'. We need always need guys like him to play this game. --- you don't hustle, you don't eat.
the crazy part of this is that some of those games they're probably down by 13 ( not with the bulls lol )...but the point is that close game blowout 1st qtr 2nd qtr preseason game 7 this guy was all balls, all day, all season.
Awesome defender. rebounder and all around blue collar player. He is flamboyant ,but I believe a good person. He deserves to be in the hall. A bonifide winner on the court.
@Delgado56789, well I don't know about his shooting. There's a reason why at 0:04 the guy in front of Rodman is barely even trying to contest Rodman's 3 pointer attempt. He rarely made that shot. Most of his points were from put backs, lay ups and dunks. He was awesome on D, he was just never much on offense.
i LOVE how rodman celebrated or showed frustration after every single play he was a part of. god he was sick. you know he had more heart than any nba player out there. throwing himself onto wood floors, hustling harder than anyone on the floor, getting tough for the team, throwing the opposition around for boards and second chances, and NEVER giving up on a play. this man truly made defense sexy.
@lambdachi1826 but if kobe shows frustration the people talk shit. everyone knows kobe is a true warrior. with all of his injuries still seeking to play harder every night. the people are being unfair to kobe.
