You play so wonderfully. If you ever get around to making a video on how you do this, I'd love to see it, since whenever I try to play a Carter Family song it sounds like a couple melody notes and then a chord and then a few more melody notes, etc. I can't get that "two guitar" sound that Maybelle (and you) can.
I've seen this a twenty times, and I will see over a hundreds times. Thank you, You are attractive person. By the way, if it is can, I want to see a slow playing version. If you show me, I am very happy and I learn it diligently, inclusive your face expression. It is joke. I am inexpert in english so I don't write much. Thank you very much again.
Forever Maybelle. Forever Carter family and Mississppi john hurt!
In the video of wildwood flower here on YT, maybelle is doing a pattern of scratch-pick with a fingerpick. that's quite interesting and a little trickier...
Hi Lana, nice to hear from you again.First off its "Cannonball" then its "Wildwood Flower" followed by "East Virginia Blues"(I play this like Clarence Tom Ashley )then "Hello Central give me Heaven" and finaly its "I am thinking tonight of my blue eyes"
Lana. I heard "Cannonball Blues", "Wildwood Flower". "East Virgnia Blues", "Hello Central Give Me Heaven", (the next one is a mixture of "Thinking Tonight of My Blue Eyes & No More the Moon Shines on Corrina" I'm not sure if this was intended on the final song or not but it comes out as a blending of the two.
Great job. I loved the songs and the style was great. Until I heard the work here, I hadn't noticed the closeness between "Thinking Tonight of my Blue Eyes" and the more obscure song by the Carters "No more the Moon Shines On Corrina" But this tune has been used so many times for other songs, e.g "Great Speckled Bird", "Wild Side of Life", "It wasn't God Who Made Honkey Tonk Angels" Thank you for sharing your talent.
The song was recorded in Memphis on November 25, 1930. "No More the Moon Shines On Lorena", They recorded on the 24th & 25th. Some of the songs were, "The Cannon Ball", "Worried Man Blues", "Lonesome Valley", "When the Worlds on Fire"... (19 songs in all on these 2 days). The more important tunes were recorded on the 24th.
"When the Worlds on Fire" is the tune that Woody Guthrie used for "This Land is Your Land".
Hi Lana, thanks for your comments.I used Martin Fingerstyle SP strings .012-.054, other than that I really like Newtone's same gauge but hard to find. Keep on pickin'
keep em comin bob! great tunes...love your pick n strum style. I've managed to play a lot more melody on my guitar from studying your posts! thanks man.

Comment?
This is Guitarplaying, Simple & Straight.
On what Brand are You playing?
It is a funny Guitar.
If one listen to the old Carter examples,
there is no reason to play this music on
Gibson's or Martin's.
Just the Old-Timer's will do Good.
SingOut! Dude. You are Great!

I thought the Carter song ya'll are talking about was named "No More The Moon Shines On Lorena"? Are they really saying Corrina?
