I know it's hard to accept the reality but Interweb will remain 2D. Probably forever. It's more accessible, more easier to use, faster to use. And more cost effective.
This technology is still in its infancy. I agree that most hard-core gamers will be less than interested. But who's playing games seriously? Older and older folks.
The younger kids I teach are too busy socializing online to spend scores of hours leveling up...it hurts their career moves. Among the college-age crowd, serious gaming is not mainstream. So I'll be curious to see where "The 3D Web" goes once the experience becomes intuitive and mainstream.
Embedding "World of Warcraft" tags in your video description to somehow attract MMO gamers who aren't really interested in 3D interactive *chat rooms* like Second Life? How is that supposed to work, exactly?
Second Life / Virtual Worlds aren't like Avatar or GTA4 or WoW *at all* and yet, you use them in your examples. Poor examples (cept Heritage Key) and a tired-looking presenter...!
Not to mention the builderbot/copybot content copy scandal a while back.
