THE bmw has more tq which will give it the win from 0-80 mph The bmw is lighter then the G too..A stg 1 bmw makes 350 hp not 370... from a stock 300 hp... And, a G37\Z make 337-340 hp stock or 350 hp for the Nismo Z... A full exhaust system on the G or Z might, might add 15 hp crank... It's all about gearing at this point...Dont even try to run a 200 lb lighter 135 with a stg 1, it'll beat the piss out of a G37 or Z
I find it very hard to believe that the high reving 335 didnt smoke this g37. stock versus stock the bimmer will take the infiniti all day. it didnt look like those 70 extra ponies added any speed.

The bmw 135/335/535 with N54 twinturbo are not high reving engines for starters, all the power of these older (2007-2010) N54 twin turbo inlines 6 engines are all about low and mid range power...The new for 2011 N55 single turbo has good power all the way across the RPM band....In fact stock for stock a N55 engined bmw will beat a N54 pretty good from 0-100 and beat the tar out of the N54 from 110-150...
With a stillen catback you arent making 360-370 hp on a g37... catback will maybe add 15hp at the crank. so maybe 345 at the crank... which doesnt mean much. Im not bashing you, i drive a G
I think you are the Loser because you cant fuckin read. The 335 has 370 hp vs the G37's 330 Hp. So if you want to get out your calculator - and you probably would need it- that is a 40 hp difference. Might as well have been a wheelchair racing the BMW. Again your reading skills are in questions, thats a G37 not a G35. Neither are loser cars. I drive a 2005 G Coupe and I am happy with it..more then happy.
If you look right at the top it says "BMW A/T moded (ECU tuning) about 370 HP" - so I dont need reading lessons. Its a waste of a a race. A 40 hp advantage, plus a turbo system that gives you all available power at less then 2000 RPM. Common now..

I stand corrected. No I dont think a Stillen exhaust would produce that much - at most kits produce 10-15 hp but the average one is less then 10p. The G37 has higher HP but lower torque. The BMW is 300 Hp even with 300 torque..plus a Turbo. The new IPL G37 is a different story. Id imagine it could beat a 335 or at least tie one.
what's funny is the 335 is 10 grand more and the g37 is still compared to it. why don't we compare a 328 to g37 considering it's in the same price range? ahaha so someone would spend 10-12 grand more on a car because it says BMW on it. I'll take the g37 and put that 10 or 12k under the hood and then let's see how your overpriced BMW can hold up. And the GTR beats the M5 (they are around the same price BMW 85-90 Gtr 82-85). The m6 cost around 106-110 and runs a 12.3-12.5 1/4 mile and the GTR runs an 11.6-11.8. So again, I'll take the GTR and put the Switzer 800 kit on it and eat the every M on the road.
And also, that G37 isnt make 360-370hp. Dont make claims you cant support. Check the forums not one member is making those number off the stillen set up. Hell stillens headers have shown losses in torque. I own a 370z and with full bolt ons I have seen them get about 40hp over stock but thats with test pipes. And to people who say they can be tuned.. the VQ37VHR cant be tuned as of yet. EOS
Inifiniti G35/37=Cheap plastic piece of Junk.. Not even worth more then 30G. In addition, whenever you turn off the car and open the door shitty ass G35 sounds like an alarm clock.. BMW still owns the best selling car in the world and G35 still known as wanna be BMW. hahaha...
I still think most of Bangle's designs look horrible, even to this day. The 6-series coupe is atrocious from the rear and looks pretty bad from the front as well. The 5-series grew on me a little bit over the years, but I still miss the clean and flowing design of the previous generation 5-series. And the 3-series looks okay from the front & sides, but the rear end styling is very weak and looks far too generic. Those taillight would look right at home an a Honda Accord.
P.S. A lot of people also forget that it was Bangle who designed the E46. But hell, despite the criticisms the cars he designed sold more than any other previous BMW designs. So he must have done something right. Maybe in the future people will look back & say "Damn, that Bangle was a genius!" The new cars do seem too conservative & lack that individual design characteristic present in the Bangle cars. Adrian seems to simply be shrinking the new F01 7 Series & dropping the number on the series.
Yeah, his designs were genius and revolutionary and worthy of putting in a museum. People will definitely look back at it even with all the controversy, his designs won't be forgotten.
E46 was an amazing looking design by Bangle, and still is. I hope people weren't bashing the E46, were they? I think it was when he started doing the "flame surfacing" later on. The rear-end I liked the most about the E46, more than the E90 I must say. But, the E90's design has grown on me.
@Reb00tProductions If they do drop the M6 maybe mine will actually gain some value in the future. Although, I don't think they will drop it for the Vision ED. The M6 is a High-Performance Luxury GT aimed at the Maserati Gran Turismo, Aston Martins, and Jaguar XKR, not a mid-engined sports car. They would lose a market. You're right though, they have focusing on their green agenda ever since they started dominating the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. I guess that title is important to them.
The current concept is running a puny 3 cyl. and I sure hope that isn't what they are aiming the R8 at as it will flop. Most likely the 4.4L TT V8 like the article suggest that replaces the current V10 and will be in the other M's.

Killing it off will mean BMW will no longer compete with cars like the XKR, the V8 Vantage & the Gran Turismo which is actually a much broader market. I have to say. I'm all for a mid-engined BMW, but I don't want them to do away with the grand tourer. I'd say give the next M6 enough HP to compete with the California, and make a mid engined sports car with a reworked McLaren F1 engine & it would be end of story
Everybody's doing it, really. Porsche's is also considering dropping those flat six's they have been good at making for so many years in favor of 4 cylinders in their future cars and EVEN a turbocharged 3 cylinder for their 2012 Boxster. Crazy, but I'm all for it if they can squeeze a lot of power out of a small engine as it means a lighter car overall, which can further improve on dynamics, acceleration, etc.
BMW's next 1 and 3 series are getting 3 and 4 cyl. engines as well.
M3's current V8 will also be replaced by a 6 cyl. turbo and sooner or later, BMW might eventually go back to their roots when the first M3 had a 4 cyl. It might sound like we're going back, but I'm sure they aren't making these smaller engines to be less powerful than the bigger ones as they will be more torque-y and shed more weight.
@Reb00tProductions Yeah I knew about the new 6 cyl. turbo for the next gen M3, and it is to be expected after seeing the new S64 TT V8 currently in the X5/X6 M. BMW reps have stated that the S64 TT V8 could make over 600 HP and about 540 lb-ft of torque in the new M5. So I'm expecting close to 480-500 HP for the next gen M3 with the 6 cyl. Porsche seems to be getting serious about these green supercars too with the new 918 Spyder. They claim it's more efficient than a Prius & faster than the CGT
It's pretty crazy if they squeeze 600+ HP out of that TT V8 for the next M5 while being more powerful, weighting less, and sipping less fuel while at it over the current V10 M5.
I'm too fond though of the new M5's design. It looks less aggressive than the current E60 IMO and it's kind of like a step back as the E60 looks as if it was a newer model. Despite die-hard BMW enthusiasts bashing Bangle, I thought the E60 looked great and intimidating, it was just before it's time.
@Reb00tProductions Damn man, that's exactly how I feel about Bangle's designs! I think they are amazing, but they were a bit too much too soon for the more conservative BMW enthusiasts. They don't understand the Bangle is heavily influence by Deconstructivsm, an architectural design style, and he was the first to use it on a car. Nonetheless every car he designed later on became the best selling of it's respective series for BMW & his designs were copied by everyone from Hyundai to Mercedes Benz

I understand they are trying to go back to their roots and recovering from Bangle. Bangle just made it more sporty-looking, IMO. His 7 series design was hideous though, I must say.

IIRC, you might/might not already know this, but Audi has already surpassed Mercedes-Benz in global sales recently and BMW is next on their list which brings them closer to their goal in becoming the leading luxury maker by 2015, or so they say. They must be doing something right to be doing real well lately and losing the least amount of money out of all the other luxury makers even with the current state of the economy.
@Reb00tProductions Audi surpassed Mercedes in Q1 of 2010, not in yearly sales, and that is the first time they ever do that. BMW has been pushing a solid 1,000,000 + vehicles since 2004. Audi's best year was 2008 with 1,003,400 vehicles sold, that same year BMW sold 1,202,239 vehicles. BMW is #1 and they will strive to stay there, Audi can plan to surpass BMW by 2015 but we won't know until it happens, & I'm not sure if it will as some of us still haven't forgotten how bad Audis were in the 80s.
Probably so that Audi wasn't too good before, but things don't stay the same and things eventually change as they have improved so much over the years. It's all called competition. In a few years it might not be that "forgotten" brand anymore, but I still prefer it remains an exclusive sleeper.
Still wouldn't buy a Merc though, all I view it is as badge snobbery as quality has dropped in their cars over the years. That's all pretty much left with Merc imo, the badge on the hood.
@Reb00tProductions Like I said, Audi has come a long way, there is no denying it, but even they have admitted they'll need another 5 years to overtake BMW, if it ever happens. Mercedes does make some nice cars, well, I'd say one. The S Class is a very nice sedan, very luxurious, and the ride quality is superb, but that is about it. Not a big fan of AMG, although the SLS isn't a bad car, I'm sure if and when BMW creates another "purely ///M" car like the old M1, it'll give it a run for its money.
I'm being very optimistic because with the current trend that Audi is going, they will be overtaking BMW sooner or later. Maybe not today or tomorrow as it's going to be tough, but it might just happen as they have been hitting quite aggressive lately. Unless of course, BMW releases something that proves to be more desirable such as a new ///M as you say.
I feel like they are focusing more on a "green persona" lately like with the Vision ED Concept, which is rumored that they will be dropping the M6 in favor of that car and it will be a competitor to the R8 V10. Which I don't know of how they will be doing that by dropping their top ///M model, along with the V10 in favor of a hybrid 3-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine.

But then again let's remember that higher end models aren't the ones that sell to the masses, it's the 3 and 5 series which are responsible for BMW's massive sales, and if the new 5 series sells well, and next years new 3 series ends up being another hit, Audi will have a lot of work to do. A new ///M flagship would be nice, we've been waiting for the successor to the M1.
Yeah, but them dropping the M6 in favor of the Vision ED is just a rumor, it was really a thing they are considering to go up against the R8 V10, instead of just improving on the "current" M6. It doesn't mean the BMW's answer to the R8 will look like the Vision ED, but it will take it's design cues from what I read. I'm aware that the lower-end models are responsible for the majority of the sales, and the current A4 is already faster 0-60 than the 328i, with two less cylinders.

well ive had my e36 m3 for 2 years now and a family friend bought it new in 99. Being good drivers we both have never crashed it and it has presented no problems but a couple lights going out and a loose shifter both easy to fix... Aaahh BMW... :)
exctly my father bought a 745i when they first came out, 2 weeks later the sunroof exploded out of the blue on a red light. scratched the hole factory paint. they had to re-paint the hole car.
I have a '09 G37. Work peer has a '08 335. I can afford either but choose the G37 because the 335 just has too many problems. And no, I'm not a ricer. He may beat me in a race but at least I have no worries about the water pump's plastic impeller blowing out or a myriad of electrical problems. No thanks.

@moosepok The reason you pay 15k premium for a BMW is because BMW is a true Premium Brand, Infiniti is not. Matter of fact, BMW is the largest Premium Brand in terms of sales and revenue, 2nd most luxurious Automobile brand (after Porsche) in overall luxury ratings, has more engine awards in the bag than any other manufacturer, and has more racing heritage in their brake dust than Infiniti has in their entire history. 30k+ miles in my M6 and 0 problems, make something else up hater.

My stats are accurate, BMW is the largest and most profitable PREMIUM automobile manufacturer, Infiniti is a Datsun in a suit.
The 335i does have it's share of fuel pump failure issues, but I wouldn't call all BMW's unreliable. Keep in mind this is a twin-turbo engine, their N/A 6's don't have any HPFP failures. The N54 engine found in the 335i is also based on the older engine design from the E46's with turbos strapped to it as the newer N/A N52 found in the E90's couldn't handle that amount of stress. Also, this is BMW's first attempt again to go back to turbocharging ever since the 80's.
There are a few 11 second 335/135s out there with tunes. One just ran a 11.3 @ 124mph on stock turbos. No infiniti on the market can compare to the lowest BMW has to offer so why even argue about it. I also like how people are arguing about the GTR as if that has shit to do with the POS infiniti in this video. Besides BMW created this market do seriously believe infiniti is even worth mentioning in the same sentence as a 3 series as far as performance goes?

A stock older 2006 BMW 330i (that weights 100 lbs more than the G's) with just a 255 hp inline 6 can and will still beat a G35 and equal a G37... I had a 350Z 2007, slapped a supercharger on it and the pwr at the crank came to 440 crank hp, the Z is>> (stock 306 crank) and it could not run better than 12.6 at 111 mph in the 1/4.. and thats still 2 full seconds and 12 mph faster than stock... add a few lbs of boost the the BMW and the Z or G would need over 480 crank hp just to keep up.....

The G37 is a quick car and the 370Z uses the same powerplant, the 335i may not kill it but it has beat it and I'm sure of thats because I've seen it done at the Portland Int'l Raceway (PIR). The Nissan has more horses under the hood but the torque is lacking, 332HP & 270 lb-ft Torque. 335i has 300HP and 300 lb-ft. Furthermore, the 335i weighs more too, 3,571 lbs. vs. the 370Z is 3232 lbs. maybe in the similar category but the BMW is in the pro league where Nissan is well a AAA minor league.

THE bmw has more tq which will give it the win from 0-80 mph The bmw is lighter then the G too..A stg 1 bmw makes 350 hp not 370... from a stock 300 hp... I stand corrected. No I dont think a Stillen exhaust would produce that much - at most kits produce 10-15 hp but the average one is less then 10p. The G37 has higher HP but lower torque. The BMW is 300 Hp even with 300 torque..plus a Turbo. The new IPL G37 is a different story. Id imagine it could beat a 335 or at least tie one.

ahaha so someone would spend 10-12 grand more on a car because it says BMW on it. I'll take the g37 and put that 10 or 12k under the hood and then let's see how your overpriced BMW can hold up. And the GTR beats the M5 (they are around the same price BMW 85-90 Gtr 82-85). The m6 cost around 106-110 and runs a 12.3-12.5 1/4 mile and the GTR runs an 11.6-11.8. So again, I'll take the GTR and put the Switzer 800 kit on it and eat the every M on the road.

I still think most of Bangle's designs look horrible, even to this day. The 6-series coupe is atrocious from the rear and looks pretty bad from the front as well. The 5-series grew on me a little bit over the years, but I still miss the clean and flowing design of the previous generation 5-series. And the 3-series looks okay from the front & sides, but the rear end styling is very weak and looks far too generic. Those taillight would look right at home an a Honda Accord.

P.S. A lot of people also forget that it was Bangle who designed the E46. But hell, despite the criticisms the cars he designed sold more than any other previous BMW designs. So he must have done something right. Maybe in the future people will look back & say "Damn, that Bangle was a genius!" The new cars do seem too conservative & lack that individual design characteristic present in the Bangle cars. Adrian seems to simply be shrinking the new F01 7 Series & dropping the number on the series.

E46 was an amazing looking design by Bangle, and still is. I hope people weren't bashing the E46, were they? I think it was when he started doing the "flame surfacing" later on. The rear-end I liked the most about the E46, more than the E90 I must say. But, the E90's design has grown on me.

The M6 is a High-Performance Luxury GT aimed at the Maserati Gran Turismo, Aston Martins, and Jaguar XKR, not a mid-engined sports car. They would lose a market. You're right though, they have focusing on their green agenda ever since they started dominating the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. I guess that title is important to them.

I'd say give the next M6 enough HP to compete with the California, and make a mid engined sports car with a reworked McLaren F1 engine & it would be end of story

Porsche's is also considering dropping those flat six's they have been good at making for so many years in favor of 4 cylinders in their future cars and EVEN a turbocharged 3 cylinder for their 2012 Boxster. Crazy, but I'm all for it if they can squeeze a lot of power out of a small engine as it means a lighter car overall, which can further improve on dynamics, acceleration, etc.
BMW's next 1 and 3 series are getting 3 and 4 cyl. engines as well.

BMW reps have stated that the S64 TT V8 could make over 600 HP and about 540 lb-ft of torque in the new M5. So I'm expecting close to 480-500 HP for the next gen M3 with the 6 cyl. Porsche seems to be getting serious about these green supercars too with the new 918 Spyder. They claim it's more efficient than a Prius & faster than the CGT

I'm too fond though of the new M5's design. It looks less aggressive than the current E60 IMO and it's kind of like a step back as the E60 looks as if it was a newer model. Despite die-hard BMW enthusiasts bashing Bangle, I thought the E60 looked great and intimidating, it was just before it's time.

They don't understand the Bangle is heavily influence by Deconstructivsm, an architectural design style, and he was the first to use it on a car. Audi's best year was 2008 with 1,003,400 vehicles sold, that same year BMW sold 1,202,239 vehicles. BMW is #1 and they will strive to stay there, Audi can plan to surpass BMW by 2015 but we won't know until it happens, & I'm not sure if it will as some of us still haven't forgotten how bad Audis were in the 80s.

Mercedes does make some nice cars, well, I'd say one. The S Class is a very nice sedan, very luxurious, and the ride quality is superb, but that is about it. Not a big fan of AMG, although the SLS isn't a bad car, I'm sure if and when BMW creates another "purely ///M" car like the old M1, it'll give it a run for its money.

I'm being very optimistic because with the current trend that Audi is going, they will be overtaking BMW sooner or later. Maybe not today or tomorrow as it's going to be tough, but it might just happen as they have been hitting quite aggressive lately. Unless of course, BMW releases something that proves to be more desirable such as a new ///M as you say.

I feel like they are focusing more on a "green persona" lately like with the Vision ED Concept, which is rumored that they will be dropping the M6 in favor of that car and it will be a competitor to the R8 V10. Which I don't know of how they will be doing that by dropping their top ///M model, along with the V10 in favor of a hybrid 3-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine.

@Reb00tProductions I didn't know they might drop the M6 although I did hear of the Vision ED being slated for production. But then again let's remember that higher end models aren't the ones that sell to the masses, it's the 3 and 5 series which are responsible for BMW's massive sales, and if the new 5 series sells well, and next years new 3 series ends up being another hit, Audi will have a lot of work to do. A new ///M flagship would be nice, we've been waiting for the successor to the M1.

Yeah, but them dropping the M6 in favor of the Vision ED is just a rumor, it was really a thing they are considering to go up against the R8 V10, instead of just improving on the "current" M6. It doesn't mean the BMW's answer to the R8 will look like the Vision ED, but it will take it's design cues from what I read. I'm aware that the lower-end models are responsible for the majority of the sales, and the current A4 is already faster 0-60 than the 328i, with two less cylinders.

BMW's reliability is in the shitter folks. There's no reason why you should pay a $15k premium for a car that is bland and unreliable. well ive had my e36 m3 for 2 years now and a family friend bought it new in 99. Being good drivers we both have never crashed it and it has presented no problems but a couple lights going out and a loose shifter both easy to fix... Aaahh BMW... :)

I have a '09 G37. Work peer has a '08 335. I can afford either but choose the G37 because the 335 just has too many problems. And no, I'm not a ricer. He may beat me in a race but at least I have no worries about the water pump's plastic impeller blowing out or a myriad of electrical problems. No thanks.

Ya we'll I've owned 2 different versions of the 335 both coupes one auto and one manual and I"ve never had those problems. On either car just because some people post online they had problems doesn't mean thats everyone.. Do you realise what a small percentage of owners post online? Do you realize that Infiniti has problems too just like every other car? My airbags didn't deploy when my G35 was struck my a drunk driver hows that for a POS. Also my leather was cheap and cracked alot. BMW>Infiniti

@moosepok The reason you pay 15k premium for a BMW is because BMW is a true Premium Brand, Infiniti is not. Matter of fact, BMW is the largest Premium Brand in terms of sales and revenue, 2nd most luxurious Automobile brand (after Porsche) in overall luxury ratings, has more engine awards in the bag than any other manufacturer, and has more racing heritage in their brake dust than Infiniti has in their entire history. 30k+ miles in my M6 and 0 problems, make something else up hater.

The 335i does have it's share of fuel pump failure issues, but I wouldn't call all BMW's unreliable. Keep in mind this is a twin-turbo engine, their N/A 6's don't have any HPFP failures. The N54 engine found in the 335i is also based on the older engine design from the E46's with turbos strapped to it as the newer N/A N52 found in the E90's couldn't handle that amount of stress. Also, this is BMW's first attempt again to go back to turbocharging ever since the 80's.

There are a few 11 second 335/135s out there with tunes. One just ran a 11.3 @ 124mph on stock turbos. No infiniti on the market can compare to the lowest BMW has to offer so why even argue about it. I also like how people are arguing about the GTR as if that has shit to do with the POS infiniti in this video. Besides BMW created this market do seriously believe infiniti is even worth mentioning in the same sentence as a 3 series as far as performance goes?

A stock older 2006 BMW 330i (that weights 100 lbs more than the G's) with just a 255 hp inline 6 can and will still beat a G35 and equal a G37... I had a 350Z 2007, slapped a supercharger on it and the pwr at the crank came to 440 crank hp, the Z is>> (stock 306 crank) and it could not run better than 12.6 at 111 mph in the 1/4.. and thats still 2 full seconds and 12 mph faster than stock... add a few lbs of boost the the BMW and the Z or G would need over 480 crank hp just to keep up.....

The G37 is a quick car and the 370Z uses the same powerplant, the 335i may not kill it but it has beat it and I'm sure of thats because I've seen it done at the Portland Int'l Raceway (PIR). The Nissan has more horses under the hood but the torque is lacking, 332HP & 270 lb-ft Torque. 335i has 300HP and 300 lb-ft. Furthermore, the 335i weighs more too, 3,571 lbs. vs. the 370Z is 3232 lbs. maybe in the similar category but the BMW is in the pro league where Nissan is well a AAA minor league.

GTR was to compete with 911's, and the Vette.
Also you're comparing NA engines (the V8 and 10) to a twin turbo pushing nearly 450 torque and 480HP.

But the point is, 335 vs G37 stock. 335 is in fact quicker on the highway no matter how you score it. it's a fact. i'm a fan of the 370z. But the 335i i believe can still take it after 100.

I havent seen a modded E90 or E92 but my Z in its current state is intake, exhaust, oil cooler, and OEM ligthweight pully and have yet too see one pull on me. power to weight ratio is what matters in those high speed runs and the best about bmw is at road courses you never see them. Why? because money doesnt = driver skill
