  • Head Spin? No, ITS THE MIND ERASER!

  • @zackvanhalen It was both, actually (at different times). I'll update the description to reflect both names.

  • @jvgsjeff I know, but it will always be the Mind Eraser to me.

  • What the heck is at 2:30 ?!?!?

  • @hellakooked: That was the entrance to one of the Fright Zones at Halloween time.

  • It's gonna be fun la la la la la la, it's gonna be great at Geauga Lake! (:

  • Thanks Mr. Kinzel!

  • Not only were dreams crushed, but lots of jobs were lost. My middle school's 8th grade science classes would go there for "education purposes" and then have free time. Must have sucked to tell your students that Six Flags closed and that the field trip was canceled.......

  • @LogoRifle: Very sad situation all around. Although Six Flags sold the park 4 years before it closed, so it wasn't Six Flags that closed the park. Cedar Fair closed it.

  • @LogoRifle was one of those people affected by the job loss, as well as my fiancee. It breaks my heart.

  • kick ass park with great roller coasters.....sucks they closed that part of it

  • I have been there many times, I never once rode a coaster there though. I was too small. :( I really miss it though.

  • One summer my girlfriend and I went here like 4 or 5 times and we always sat on this one bench together at the end of each day talking about how great this park was to us when we were real little.

  • I remember GL from the mid 70's to the early 90's. Love the slideshow, but rather remember the way it was back then.

  • I went to Geauga Lake and Sea World a lot when I was growing up. I now live in Pennsylvania, but it is sad to see both parks disappear and get replaced with a water park.

  • im ginda glad they went out becouse they moved thunder hawk here at michigan adventure

  • Fuck you!!

You stole our memories you fucker!!!

    Be glad asshole!

  • I never been to Geauga Lake however I think if they built a B&M hypercoaster (such as Behemoth from Canada's Wonderland) I think that would save them from closing

  • @canadaswonderlandguy: Yeah, it's too late now, but a lot of fans were hoping for a hypercoaster for many years.

  • @canadaswonderlandguy

Nothing would have saved our beloved park.

It was out of our hands no matter what we would do.

  • The ugly truth is: Cedar Fair's ONLY reason for buying Geauga Lake from Six Flags was to eliminate Cedar Point's competition!!

  • @bigdon1966 Never thought of that, loved Geauga Lake!

  • @bigdon1966 keep in mind that Cedar Fair tried their hand at resurrecting the old time family oriented amusement park(in a marketing capacity at least). Six Flags/Premier parks tried to get competitive with Cedar Point by turning the classic family amusement/water park into a corporate branded park with the large theme park touch. Six Flags' attempt at competition with Cedar Point was unsuccessful. Regardless of owner, Geauga Lake was no match against the grand daddy of them all in Sandusky.

  • Wow...

Thorpe Park (a theme park near London)looks NOTHING compared to this!

    I wish it stayed open...then I'll go. :)

    I'll have to look at a massive lake...instead. :(

  • I wish the UK had amusment parks like this. This one looks better than Disneyland

  • Great slide show! I hope you had fun.

  • fuck the stuiped ass waterpark (even though this is suposed to be the last year its open i herd it listening to the manager) i want my old rides back i lived there pretty much. i dont think there wasnt one year i didnt get a pass. stuiped ass fucking econemy and cedar fair FUCK YOU!! BRING BACK GEAUGA LAKE

  • Awesome vid!

btw just a question, did u use the given slideshow

thing in the photo channel? =-P

  • HeyItsChristianOmg: Thanks. :) Yeah, I used the Wii Photo Channel slideshow.

  • Some trivia you may or may not know:

The "Dominator" coaster was originally built when Six Flags owned the park, and was Batman themed hence the black and yellow color scheme. "Steele Venom" originally opened with the name "Mind Eraser" as a backwards rollercoaster. it seemed at the time that it was GL's answer to Cedar Points stand-up coaster, Mantis. "Thunder" Hawk was originally called "Serial Thriller".

  • orangeTadpole: Actually Steel Venom was originally Superman: Ultimate Escape.

Mind Eraser was the original name of Head Spin, not Steel Venom.

  • My bad. I knew that the coaster with the cobra roll and the loop was Mind Eraser and the red impulse coaster was superman ultimate escape.

  • shut up where did u find this from urban dictionary

  • i wish i couldve gone here....it looked like a great park...preserve the Big Dipper!!!! why did the park have to close???

  • They were loosing money. It didn't get a lot of visitors.

  • The Double loop was the very first coaster i rode... 5 years old-1990. I wish i could've bought the park.

  • thanks for the memories! LOL Those were the biggest Gold fish ever! i remember going to the KFC by turtle beach and throwing the fish my chicken bones and they would swolow them whole.!

  • Thanks for the slideshow, jvgsjeff. That was a very poignant memorial.

My daughter and I would go there ten times a year or so. I'll always remember carrying her on my shoulders, walking across the pontoon bridge, as the sun set over the roller coasters.

I think a small piece of my heart will always remain at that place. And as long as we have memories of the wonder and joy we experienced there, Geauga Lake will never really go away . . .

  • Yeah, the food was pretty cheap there. At my local Six Flags, it's 3 dollars for bottled water. I just bring my own food.

  • I am truly going to miss Geauga Lake. I grew up at that park, going there every summer with my friends and family. Cedar Fair did a pretty shitty thing to close the park with no notice to anybody who would want to go there one last time. I was fortunate enough to be there on the last day of Okteberfest, which was the last day it was open, and I ended up bringing my camera to take pictures just in case........ I'm glad I did.

  • why did they shut it down?

    :(

  • BonTonSwan: Basically, they said the attendance was too low. When Cedar Fair first bought the park, they closed the sea life part of the park (the former Sea World Ohio), which was a big draw--there was nothing else like it in this part of the country. And attendance initially dropped as a result, although it did level off and actually slightly increased the final 3 years. Unfortunately, Cedar Fair decided to strip the park of rides rather than re-sell it as an amusement park.

  • Geauga Lake and Sea World of Ohio were great. I think Cedar Fair wanted to close G.Lake & focus on Cedar Point. They did some self-destructive stuff with G.Lake; School kids got a pass to Six Flags for 6 hours of reading. Cedar Fair took over & wouldn't honor them. After bad press, they agreed, but after a few weeks, they stopped. What a Stupid PR move. If a kid had earned a pass, they would go with paying parents and siblings who would buy over-priced food and games. My family quit going.

  • yes it does...HAHAHAHA!! I'm dumb that's why...I'm really random to!! don't read people's profiles much to!! HAHAHAHAHA!!

  • k...what the heck...I thought you do video game videos...hahahahahaha

  • Games1219: I make mostly video game videos, but as I wrote on my channel description, I make occasional amusement park videos as well. Although I did use the Wii photo channel for this slideshow...does that help? :)

  • Were you using photo channel on the Wii for the slideshow?

  • lancecytan: Yes, that's what I used.

  • Noo):

    im soo sad right now.);

Im gonna miss that place so much!

They had the best cotton candy ever!

And it was only 25 cents.

    <\3 ill miss it.

  • :( i have to go to the other places to ride original coasters i like

  • why did it end?

  • Did you take those pictures Jeff, or did you copy and paste them from a cite?

  • I took the pictures.

  • Well, good job! You're a good photographer.

Oh and hey, I'm sorry you had to lose a really big childhood memory. I bet it was rough when you heard it was closing, huh?

  • Nice slide show! That park looks fun.

  • So, I guess it closed? Was it like, something you grew up with? Sucks if it was..

  • iDangerousx33: Yeah, it's closed for good now. The park was there since 1888...so yeah, a lot of people grew up with it. :(

  • lol at 6:46 'please don't crush me!'

  • What was the one at 0:51 called?

  • It was called Grizzly Run, one of those water rides where you sit in a big circle.

  • Looks like fun!

    Wii Slideshow ftw. :P

  • I live close to there :D

  • What is the oldest RollerCoaster in the world?

  • The oldest is Leap the Dips at Lakemont Park in Altoona, PA. It was built in 1902.

  • Wow, is it still running? Or it's probably a museum or something...

  • Yes, Leap the Dips still runs.

  • kewlness :3

  • Cool! :D

  • Man the pretzels I had at the Germany Oktoberfest were so good. I don't drink though.

  • omg I've been there! I live by you! o.o
