Disco music, of the late 70s, is one of the best expressions of how beautiful kind young adults can be when they, we, LOVE one another. Disco, love,Joy and kindness for everyone and forever!
Steve Goetzman, Exile's drummer, was in my class in high school. Exile was scheduled to play at our 10th year high school reunion in the summer of 1978, but unfortunately for us, "Kiss You All Over" hit it big that summer. Instead of being at our reunion, Exile went to the west coast to be on Midnight Special.
At the time, I thought this the 'sexiest' song I ever heard... Especially being sung by such a bunch of handsome attractive guys... Take a look at that LP sleeve - I rest my case...
Lots of memories with this song. I was married May 5 1979 and this was our first dance together.... the older generation was kinda freaked out but everyone else got it LOL
I am only 47 but I know this song from the 70's an era I started to listen to music. Barry White is my Favorite from that era, oh yeah now I have to look him up on Youtube.
I love this song. It's too bad only AOR stations play the full-length, unedited, uncut, longer album version of the song. All of the others play the half-length, edited, cut, single version. Top 40 radio needs to start playing long songs. 5:00 is way better than 3:37.
one person remarked that steve perry from jurney was the best singer but i do believe that jimmy stokley has a much sexier voice. yes steve perry can sing higher notes but tha is not eveerything in music.
@Medic83301 You have a line wrong - it is when I get home babe, gonna light your fire, ALL DAY I'VE BEEN thinkin about you, babe your my one desire. Just sayin...
Love that long intro, just perfect for when she throws her arms round your neck and you start kissing and touching. A most understated band and that song....still puts goosepimples down my neck. If I could just travel back to that golden era 1975-1985 I'd stay there - till the end of time.
@Foxielady1949 don't worry those days I'm sure will pay you a visit here and there and take you back. I'm an 80s child, but so far what I've seen and heard, the 70s were pretty cool. If I had a time machine, I'd guarantee you that I'd travel back to the 70s!
Back in the day music;you turn on the radio and you hear any song out there,i don't care what it was pop,soul/r&b ,country top 10 ,top 40, whether you're black ,white, etc good music; was good music.
The 70's was a decade of the Supergroups. If a group wanted to make millions all they would have to do is look back to then and emulate the style of music. Heck I moved here instead of someone else due the presence of a great classic rock station.
@heiszedd Bands today, ones that came out after 1990 seriously need to take music lessons from bands from the '60s to the '80s, such as this one. What has happened to the great music and talent in music?? Mainstream music the past two decades is pretty much all rap/hip hop and alternative music from bands that are mostly puppets and copycats. And afraid it will not change intil someone somes out of the blue and seriously start a music revelution to bring back the great sound of it.
THE 70'S HAD THE BEST MUSIC EVER. YOU COULD UNDERSTAND THE WORDS. SONGS TODAY YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE WORDS AND IF YOU DO THEN THEY ARE CUSS WORDS OR ABOUT B.S. THOSE WERE THE DAYS OF GOOD AND DECENT MUSIC.
Here, here! My sentiments exactly! Here in the UK, 1978 was the biggest selling year of all time for the 7" Single in music history - the year this record was a smash hit - must say something!
@brewski268 GOD REST U JIMMY STOKLEY LEAD SINGER FROM BEGININ TO LATE 70S . HE THERE FOR THIS WORLDWIDE NO1. VERY LITTLE INFO ON HIM . GONE TOO SOON -1985. NEVER 4GOTTON
@travis7310 Yeah, it was pretty racy lyrics for '78, but when it comes to raciness, this is nothing compared to what is heard on the radio these days.
I was driving to a friend's in western Massachusetts when Boston WBCN icon Charles Laquidera put this song on and walked off the air to protest the pending changes in format implemented by new management. The song played repeatedly for forty five minutes before anyone at the station figured out what Laquidera had done. It was bliss because he chose a great song to walk off to and it's great to listen to it again and remenber.
As an African-American male, my buddies got on me REAL BAD for digging this song but you know what? I DIDN'T CARE!!! I was stationed in Rota, Spain when this came out in 1978 and ALL the lovely Spanish women were diggin' it too! Great music and songs, are 'colorblind.'
I am glad to have been a teen at this time. We had THE best times! I don't want to stop either. I still feel young. This and other songs I never tire from. Just have fun and enjoy the passion it exudes...wanting to kiss like that still. Waiting on that special man to come get me. Love you PETE!!!
oh man...like some of u i remember this 1 like yesterday. back then 4 me it was really hard rock but there were a number of tunes that were not hard but man they great songs! songs by gary wright, exile, ozark mountian daredevils, the four seasons, Ace, the buckinghams... the list goes on, they are timeless and the songs are probably bigger than the bands that put them out.
One of the sexiest songs of the fabulous 70's...U had to be there, Exile and Kiss You All Over was very there...A time of some of the best music that ever was and ever will be...Those were the days and this will always be the music.. I miss those days..A time of wonder & Joy, Music, dancing and romancing!
@scottrap The NY Times never said NO such thing, as a matter of fact the NY Times endorsed Exile and this song back in 1979,,, you may not like it but thousands of others did, so with respect, all i will say is this is only your opinion.
@magpieeye I agre with you. There were a lot of great groups and single singers. Gary Wright,Fleetwood Mac,The Eagles, and many more. Those wer the best years I had,I was in my mid teens and early twenties. I don,t understand how someone can enjoy the music you hear now. To me it has no meaning.

Anyone know where you can purchase the mp3 version of this song from? All the other ones sound different. This is the best version I have heard, and even the links on this page are different than the video.
This song is so good.. I will stop doing what ever i'm doing just to jam out to this song!!!!

Anyone know where you can purchase the mp3 version of this song from? All the other ones sound different. This is the best version I have heard, and even the links on this page are different than the video.

Timeless song...very romantic too! I also love the disco-ish style it had!! This would be a great remake!!!!

Oh this song brings back good memories from high school. Late 70's early 80's....Music today SUCKS compared to the stuff I grew up on.......
