you can usually see them provided the lighting is correct, and It is the actual round. I don't know what qualifies for high velocity but I would say that its prolly pretty fast since the 100ish pound artillery shell didn't fall out on the ground in front of the 777 medium towed howitzer

With load 4-6 we shot: 12-16 km far (max terrain was 18 km). Can tell you the BANG with load 6 is... Ear-plugs in and soundberries over it... darnnn, the ears...

As follow up to explain how to load a gun like this (is way more different than in WW2, with the grenade shell): Loading the grenade, then the number of sacks (sewed to eachother, lets say load 4 has 4 sacks and goes up till load 9). Load 9 is used for distances between 35-40 km.

Load 4 has speed of approx 800+ km/h you could follow this guy for a long way.

Load 6 was impossible (maybe only the coming out).

I am talking about 155 mm nades. Can imagine diff types of nades have diff weight.

Was in the army long time ago. Was an observer at the Artillery at M109/M110 Tank howitzers. Just simply saying the time from launching till explosion = distance.

This is not true.Or the speed is always the same but its not. All depends of the speed of the grenade, which depends on what load (explosives, measures in sacks) was used.

Saw shots with load 4 (the speed was measured over 800 km/h), with load 6 it was over 1,000 km/h. So if you dont know the speed you cant measure distance.

I was in a 155 towed unit at Ft Campbell KY as a member of the 101st Airborne Artillery. When we went to the field for live fire, if there was another unit firing behind us I would go out and look up when I heard them fire and I could see the round going overhead. It was small but I could see it, it was pretty cool.
