WoW wants to try and grow up to become LotRO. Lotro is more realistic, better graphics, even better than WoW. It is free moving and soul based RP on the lord of the rings story. Along with the quests you run into arogorn, frodo, many rangers... You play a part in the whole story!

I've never played any MMORPG before but if I've to choose one, I would choose LOTR. Because I've ALWAYS hated in any game cartoony, colorful design and japanese crazy sized hand-held weapons like in WoW. By far, in this video, LOTR looks more natural and less cartoony. It looks more like LOTR was made for an older audience. I'm not saying WoW is bad. Its just not my cup of tea. I heard WoW has the largest community in all mmorpg's.

Since WoW is a cartoony fantasy game, it will be extremelly addictive, and will suck out your life.
Other games closer to reality, (LOTRO, Guild wars 1 and 2) will be less addictive and get bored in 2-3 months. Really WoW is bad, but the good thing is levelling up with friends through ts ventrilo or skype, really fun moments you will never forget, till you reach lvl85, total boredom, you will se yourself obligated to do 3 raids each day or pvp, completely fail.I experienced this,so i play Aion.

wow is more with mitological creatures.. lotro goes a little more on the realism, yes... i know that LOTRO have orcs, goblins.. and that stuff.. but we must admit that WOW lower graphics its just to fiction...
@IrishPersonNumber3 LOTRO isn't free. It is more like an extended trial to level 30. After that, there will be no more areas to quest in so you are just going to have to repeatedly kill things to reach max level, which nobody will do. You will have to subscribe(pay) and buy the expansions. So when you wrote that comment you obviously didn't reach level 30.
I agree with the outcome of this video. Though WoW has some really exciting scenery, LOTRO is more true to form. Besides, the avatars in WoW really look like "toons", compared to LOTRO's avatars. Personal Opinion: If you want to be a toon, fine. I'll stick with LOTRO.
@Supersomonerandom the preformance problem can be fixed with a simple FPS limitation, worked on my computer at 30fps in populated areas, and my computer lags on games from the 90's.

WoW is beastly but and I played it but got my account hacked and now maybe going to get another account but still it cant beat Lotro, Lord of The Rings is and will always be the king of fantasy stories!
Having played them both, I think that Lotro has the best PvE questing experience thanks to the lore and the stunning landscapes. WoW on the other hand has the more balanced and polished gameplay, with the best mix of everything (Questing, Raiding, PvP.) I love both games and I switch between them a lot.
@vader228 Damn you guys never understand that people refer to the game itself, the gameplay and stuff WoW has(some things copied from other games and correctly putting them together.), you don't have to be a genious to know that WoW copied some lore from LOTR(mainly races,creatures) which Tolkien at the same time copied from Norse Mythology. But striclty speaking about the games LORTO copied WoW and there's no way it could have been backwards, the books are one thing and the MMORPG is another.

I agree with that, i played Warcraft for 5 yrs and nothing changed dispite the constant patches they put it, all they did was make the game less interesting, plus the fact that many ppl wasting their money on WoW rather than play the LOTRO for free.

@chocolate4949 How is showing how both games look operate and play biased? Just reviewing the games code and requirements will tell you what you can see with your eyes here. Go and look through the WoW forums and you'll see the specs for WoW are just not that high. Saying WoW is a better design than LOTRO is like saying Runescape is the best MMORPG out there. @matko68 The person who made this video, genius, likes BOTH games. But the fact is that LOTRO has much more work in it and the game play is much better. The game engine in WoW is from 2003, and was only moderately updated to a 2005 engine in the new Cataclysm update. Troll the WoW Forums for a bit and you may learn something...like I did playing the game for 4 of the 7 years it has thus far existed.
LOTRO and WOW are bouth good games but WOW got some bad things AND LOTRO got some bad things WOW got three expension packs Eye of the Maelstrom wrath of lich king and catclysm but LORTO got one shadow of angmar and LOTRO is free!! dosn't cost anything! here in Norway but I dont know if it dos any where else =)
@helgami Actually, LOTRO got 3 updates also. Siege of Mirkwod, Shadows of Angmar and Mines of Moria. The new one is coming soon, Rise of Isengard. Now the player base is rising fast with F2P, they are looking into doing what WoW promised and did not deliver...a yearly update.

lotro isn't 100% free. if you want to lvl through lvl 20 you either need to buy a quest pack which cost some points (you can farm points for free, but takes hell of time to do) or you can buy. if i remember right 14 euro for 5000 points is not so much for that much points. and for subscribers, there are a 11 euro monthly payment (i think it was...) but not over 15 euro for sure.

lotro may be more realistic, but wow has much better graphics in a fantasy type way. realistic is boring, thats why we play games like world of warcraft. Now i really miss the game. and yes, i prefer trolls to geeky and boring people.
I dont think graphics should be something that you compare the two games by. these days by good graphics we mean realistic graphics. I think wow's graphics are fine as they are (although the dx11 water things look cool), and lotro's graphics are fine as they are.
I think lotro isnt very well known because it was released in wow's shadow, but overall they're two great games that are better then eachother at certain things

I like both WOW and LOTRO but cant play WOW cause its P2P so here is my ratings
WOW Good = great story line, factions, races, classes, and scenery
WOW Bad = cartoony graphics and P2P
LOTRO Good = AMAZING graphics, Great story line and characters (cause ive read the books and watched the moves so i know this stuff), classes, and F2P
LOTRO Bad = Mostly rude people (so no kinships for me) and some restrictions. Some people can be nice and helpful

lortro. wow is great to but to fantisy and colorfull for me. both games have their good perks but lotro has that lil extra that i like. would like to see pvp and playable orcs/urah-ki in lotro but is a great game without.

OK LETS SETTLE THIS!!! Both are good games in their own ways, if u like one better than the other play that one and let us that like the other one play in peace. FYI i tried both, i love the lord of the rings movies but i just couldnt get into the mmo, im sure if i played it more i would have gotten into.... But i already play wow and i noticed when i was playing lotro i kept comparing it to wow and realized i liked wow better.

@eiderez lotro has 3 million players. WoW has over 12 million. Who is the ant now? blizzard is way more successful. The game went free to play because it sucks and its horrible. I got so bored of it because its just a grind fest. Wow questing has soem stroyline behind it. YEah lotro has the main story quest line, but most quests have nothing to do with the storyline, while msot wow quests do

LOTRO = Advanced Graphics = Teen rated game = Huge lore.

I agree with that, i played Warcraft for 5 yrs and nothing changed dispite the constant patches they put it, all they did was make the game less interesting, plus the fact that many ppl wasting their money on WoW rather than play the LOTRO for free.

I play both games and I think WoW is better, Yeah LOTRO its like one of the best rpg ever but I think WoW its the best one.
Maybe because in WoW they can play more with the storyline, its based on warcraft, thats another game they can change things and make it better.
LOTRO in the othey hand its based on the books and the movies, if they dare to change a thing a lot of fans of Lord of the rings will get upset and stuff..

@chocolate4949 How is showing how both games look operate and play biased? Just reviewing the games code and requirements will tell you what you can see with your eyes here. Go and look through the WoW forums and you'll see the specs for WoW are just not that high. Saying WoW is a better design than LOTRO is like saying Runescape is the best MMORPG out there. You have to get real sometime.

@matko68 The person who made this video, genius, likes BOTH games. But the fact is that LOTRO has much more work in it and the game play is much better. The game engine in WoW is from 2003, and was only moderately updated to a 2005 engine in the new Cataclysm update. Troll the WoW Forums for a bit and you may learn something...like I did playing the game for 4 of the 7 years it has thus far existed.

LOTRO and WOW are bouth good games but WOW got some bad things AND LOTRO got some bad things WOW got three expension packs Eye of the Maelstrom wrath of lich king and catclysm but LORTO got one shadow of angmar and LOTRO is free!! dosn't cost anything! here in Norway but I dont know if it dos any where else =)

@helgami Actually, LOTRO got 3 updates also. Siege of Mirkwod, Shadows of Angmar and Mines of Moria. The new one is coming soon, Rise of Isengard. Now the player base is rising fast with F2P, they are looking into doing what WoW promised and did not deliver...a yearly update.

lotro isn't 100% free. if you want to lvl through lvl 20 you either need to buy a quest pack which cost some points (you can farm points for free, but takes hell of time to do) or you can buy. if i remember right 14 euro for 5000 points is not so much for that much points. and for subscribers, there are a 11 euro monthly payment (i think it was...) but not over 15 euro for sure.

WoW haven't got as many options like LotRO, like: can you play accords in WoW? no. Can you smoke weeds in WoW? no. That's two of all reason why LotRO is better. And playing accords/songs in a game just too awesome. go check out how awesome songs people have made thru this game.

LotRO is better. I prefer more lorewise mmorpg. Lorewise game keeps everyone entertaining longer. WoW is like a 1 month playing = you have seen everything.

lotro may be more realistic, but wow has much better graphics in a fantasy type way. realistic is boring, thats why we play games like world of warcraft. Now i really miss the game. and yes, i prefer trolls to geeky and boring people.

I dont think graphics should be something that you compare the two games by. these days by good graphics we mean realistic graphics. I think wow's graphics are fine as they are (although the dx11 water things look cool), and lotro's graphics are fine as they are.
I think lotro isnt very well known because it was released in wow's shadow, but overall they're two great games that are better then eachother at certain things
