The visual movement doesn't coordinate well with the music. This seems to be an extremely amateur effort compared with things like Wehinger's Ligeti visualization. In addition, the song is mediocre. David Bowie is way overrated. Sam Prekop is a talented composer and musician, and his own stuff is much better.

Agreed. I've been listening to Sea and Cake since their inception and I dig most of what they have to offer, but they rarely if ever have done a remake. And this one is good. If I was forced to pick one version over the other...it'd be damn close, but I'd probably have to go for Bowie's version.

There's a few covers of this song by "bigger" bands like RHCP and Franz Ferndaid here on Youtube. This is the ONLY cover that is worth listening to outside of the original version, since it actually has fun and tries to go in a bit of a different direction from the original.

If anyone likes The Sea and Cake and/or David Bowie, you should look for The Sea and Cake's cover of Talking Heads' Naive Melody (This Must Be The Place). That's a very good cover, they held true to the original while also making it their own. The true test of a good cover is to meet those qualifications. :D

Gotta love this track. It's so joyful and compelling. I'd totally use this in some program coz this isn't really one for soundtracks. The ironic thing is that this isn't the greatest audiovisual experience I could imagine. I would personally visualize this with warmer colors and leave out dark colors altogether. Not that the video sucks, but to me, this sounds warmer and brighter and happier than this, that's all.
