Without sampling music would seldom go anywhere, the artists being sampled are donating thier creativity for the continued evolution of music, the way I see it. There has been a lot of good music that has come about through sampling. It doesn't devalue the originators' music, rather, it adds value as thier work is made available and accessible to new generations.

However coming up with all original content is far beyond brilliant.

I think the Freemason's song is a good song and I think you can use a sample tastefully like in the case of the "Groovejet" by Spiller which used an old Salsoul sample. But building a song from the ground up is a whole other level of creativity. I feel that House/Dance music isn't as locked into the sample paradigm as Rap/R&B/Pop and it should be a more creative and soulful medium.
