My dog just cries when he sees other dogs and rushes towards them to smells them, if not, he keeps barking and crying.

Ok so I got this 2 year old dog and he is not really nice. I want him to be more playful and nice to other dogs, but when he was younger i toke him to the dog park and he got attack and so now hes alittle more bossy of how is to come greet him and if he doesnt like he would attack. Should I keep on taking him to the dog park with a muzzle and a lease on. What should I do? I got an E collar should I have that on him when his in the park! do think it is safe to take him there?

hi! i have a question. i have a dog about 3 years old. shes a great dog, great maners, tricks trained very smart and sweet. anyway.when she was young she was fine with other people. but now shes not so good, she doesnt bite at all or attack other dogs. but by her body language i think shes scared. anyways.i take her for walks, people come over all the time. but how can i effectivley socialize her?

I have recently acquired an 18 month old german shepherd who is scared of other dogs. She tries to escape her collar and lead and without knowing much about her background, apart from she was rescued by her previous owners at 6 months, and they had to get rid too because of her husbands illness and unable to walk. She cowers behind me when another dog is approaching and keeps checking on the other dog to ensure it is not coming back for her. Has anybody got any suggestions please?

So what do you do, when your dog adopted, is 3 years old and has become a lot more vicious with other dogs? And even growls at some people.... She never has done this before.

I wish I'd seen this when my dog was younger. We too the vet's advice and didn't take him to the park (he did have limited social interaction with about 3 dogs, but rarely). He got Parvo one week before his last vaccination appointment, and the vet then told us NO DOG CONTACT for 3 months. At the end of that period he was 8 months old, and that's when I started taking him to the park. Now I have dominance issues up the wazoo.

I found the best way to socialize a dog besides of coarse dog classes is to go to a large parking lot like wal mart and just sit there with your dog and let him watch people if someone wants to pet him let em if someone is afraid let him get use to and train him how to react

im getting a malinois next july i get it at 2 months (8 weeks) but it will be with a breeders kennel and then with me from then on since its a sheperd breed is the socialising be different?

I have an 18 week old Boxweiler whom I don't have problems socializing with other dogs. The problem I have is socializing her with people. She just started the insecure behavior and barking with people a couple of weeks ago. So what can I do to better socialize her with people??

I just got a new dog who is 8 months old and she is aggressive towards other dogs and I have been taking her to a lot of dog parts because I want her socialized. I do not have a reliable dog class around me so I can not let her off leash with other pups, any suggestions?

Is it ever too late to train your dog to do anything? If it is, what is too late for one thing and never too late for another?  Like is it too late to get them to stop chewing and not too late to get them to walk on a leash. You can see by my question that I do not know much about dogs but I am learning.

@HalfSharkGator totally agree. just adopted a four year old female spaniel mix, not socialized well with people. fearful and reactive. It's challenging and sad, but she gets better with gradual assimilation and lots of positive reenforcement. Socialize your dogs! Isolation does not build a healthy companionship because of the anxiety it causes your pet. They are SOCIAL animals! They shouldn't be too clingy, even though it may seem cute. Don't misread your dog's signals. Observe.

My pup is about 5 months. I'm trying to socialize her and so far she's very sweet when she meets new dogs one one one, but when she is around more than one dog at the same time in a small space she gets really rowdy. I know she doesn't mean any harm, but she causes a lot of racket(running into walls, scratching on doors, etc). But what happens when your dog is 10 years old? My dog isn't aggressive at all but tends to lunge at other dogs because she's over excited. All she wants to do is sniff their behind but she moves so fast that other dogs take it as aggression and attack her.

I have a 4 months old APBT, and we walk him twice a day to a park where there are other dogs. When he was smaller, he used to feel scared around these dogs, but now he's started to show some agression towards them, growling and trying to bite them, thank God I have him on a leash. We've tried to expose him to different places as much as possible, and he does like strangers, but he doesn't let people touch him. What can I do??

make strangers to give some treats to your dog, that way he might start thinking that stranger is good:)

I just acquired a pit bull puppy and and this is something I want to do right from day one. Everyday I make a point for him to interact with other dogs, family members and strangers. I believe its my responsibility as an owner of this breed.

Hi, i have a 2 1/2 year old male golden retriever.The problem i seem to see with him is that when another dog trys to sniff his privates he right away gets defensive i would say. But the thing is he's not an aggressive dog he's very calm mannered and listen very well. Each time i would bring him to the dog park he would usually get into a confrentation like some dogs will try to dominate him and he'll bare teeth and chase them off. I have a 8 month old lab/pitbull mix and I do occasionally socialize her (once to twice a week with a friend's dog). I see SOME improvements, but she still has horrible dog etiquette. When excited, she even jumps up sometimes and nips at my friend's fingers!!! The rough play she does with other dogs I consider normal. It's the human finger biting that has me worried. How exactly am I supposed to train her not do do this?

I just took my small dog (about 1 year old) out. My wife insisted that we take her off the leash. We encountered a group of dogs when my dog was a distance away from us. The group of dogs ran up to her; she didnt act submissive and they nipped at her. I had to fend them off.

We didnt do a good job so socializing when she was a pup. What can we do???

I have two dogs, but ever since my border collie/Lap dog mix grow up and is 5 years now, she has begun to be rude to the older dog who is 7 years. She makes the older dog shaking every time they are close to each other. What can I do to make them like each other better instead of snarling?

I adopted my Jack Russel dog from a rescue centre wen she was 3 yrs. She's a fairly obedient dog and gets on well wiv most oher dogs. But she seems to have a problem wiv certain dogs and although shes never actually bit a dog she barks and growls and acts quite aggressive, this tends to only be with larger breeds and i can usually call her off straight away, but id still rather she didnt do it at all, any advice?

My dog is about to turn 1 year old on August.Does he have a chance to be socialized... he barks at other dogs when he sees one and other people too and scared that he might bite them... because one friend of my dad came and the dog tried to jump over the fence and also when the guy came close to the fence he did a little rip on his shirt... not a big one and the neighbor has a bulldog which gets lost and comes to our house and he always barks and tries to jump over the fence. The problem I have is that u said to socialize them before 4 month. My vet doc said puppy is not allow to be in public till he's after 4 month because of their inmune system.

I know, that is a big problem. A lot of vet's recommend that we don't allow our puppies to socialize until after 4 months old. I really think that this is bad advice. When a puppy is not properly socialized there is a stronger chance for the pup to develop behavior problems as an adult dog. More dogs are put to sleep for behavior problems than for any other reason. I am careful and bring my puppies out around people and other dogs that I know are safe.

@eletendre1 the environment also can have the parvo virus! how do you protect against that?

It's cause they don't have all their shots. If you can try to find someone else who has a dog/puppy with all it's shots.

@TheAgent06 I was told the same thing because of parvo. At 4 months the dog should get his last parvo shot then he can go out in public. This guy is obviously not considering the fact that some people have 3000 dollar dogs. I happen to have an english bulldog and theres no way im risking him dying

I have 3 month old lab. He's pretty smart he olready know stuff like : sit, come, no, his name etc. but i have problems with him on leash..he doesnt walk close to me, i tried walk and stop training but i dont see any results. He stops and starts puling again when i walk. any help?

i got my dog at 4 mounths he is a very small yorkie i would be to scared to let him off the lead, he needs some socialising he barks at other dog scooters and scateboards when were out your videos are very helpful as i am planning to do some training.

All depends on the dog. A good place to start would be a dog daycare. They should have staff that can properly evaluate your dog around other dogs.
