Ever hear the song "Turkey in the Straw?" That's what this reminds me of.
Has this dude ever heard about putting a space in between the notes? Just one little space every now and then? ...Hmm?
OK. Now that we got that out of the way, scope out Travis Barker. No, TB doesn't sound like a broken Sears Craftsman washing machine from 1978. He sounds like a fresh voice of upside down drumming and crazy shenanigans from a day gone by when men were tough a** and down with big beats.
@JoeJacari this is the ending of a 15 minute improvised drum solo. dont look at it like its a pop song. its natural to play a few more notes toward the end of a solo!!! regardless there is all kinds of "space" in his playing even then. they are just smaller spaces and SUPER even! The first 30 seconds of this section is an ultra simple and fat (big beat) 4/4 groove. did the spicy stick tricks prevent you from hearing/seeing that? hmm? and dude dont u know TB stands for Terry Bozzio!!
@morgenthaler ur right that is a pearl set.but he was still with premier at the time of the vid. must have been the best kit they had available at the time of the clinic. drums du jour. there are a few vids of him playing zildjian on yt as well thats funny
thats a drum solo affecting people. Anyone who says the drum solo is arcane needs to look at this. In a world inundated by coffee shop singer songwriter wanna be's .....Virgil offers relief
Yeah it was from the Connecticut clinic on October 24th, 2000. I have the whole clinic on video. The part before the clicks/tricks he was doing a lot of double strokes on the bass drum. I can post more of the vid if u want.
Does anyone know precisely which clinic this video comes from? I seem to remember that before the stick tricks, Virgil used to play really cool grooves. But I find it difficult to get back to this video on YouTube. Thanks.
Master!

@Typenice ... the guy is comparing Travis Barker to Virgil Donati ... what's the point in arguing with him? ... sad, humanity, sad!

This is a bootleg video from a drum
clinic. I bought this video from
audiophile imports but I'm not sure if they are still around. He plays a few tunes
from the serious young insects cd. the video is about an hour long.
