  • I'll admit I'm one of those who thought it was Richard Marx! But in my defense, they play this song at work all the time and the overhead music isn't the clearest. I knew it sounded a little too emotionally charged to be him (don't mind his stuff actually) though and I'm glad I now know what song this is! Going on my itunes now!

  • Great song and great voice.

  • LOVE!!!

  • always loved this song and LOU too

  • Lou..simply one of the best voices of the last 30 years. I'd put him up there with Brad Delp of Boston, and Steve Perry. Jimi Jamison of Survivor is another guy that could hold his own with anyone.

  • My work has sattelite radio and they play lots of 80's 90's music on it. Been playing this lots lately and although I could sing every word I couldn't remember who sang it so here I am lol. Gosh I miss the 80's back when music was music and it was fun!!

  • Only One of the Best of All TIMES.You really Must know this is The Most Romantic.

  • Great memories of 1989 here. Thanks for posting!

  • were Lou Gramm and John Parr (St. Elmo's Fire) separated at birth??

  • @bigoilsucks1 I know what you mean. They both do look and sound simular. Both great songs and artist.

  • one of the lost gems in the 80's. there were many. just simply awesome writing . Lou shows why he was among the leading singers of his time.

  • Poor guy probably left the toilet seat up again....More Lou Please!!!!

  • I heart the 80s and this song. ;)

  • love this video and song

  • One of my favorite songs from any era

  • This will remain my all time Lou Gramm song! But I wonder if this song was released before or after they discovered his brain aneurism?!

  • @mjsmith1965 This song was released in 1989.The single got into the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

  • another tearjerker, for sure..damn..damn..damn..damn..damn....another lost love that i would have died for, kitty..didnt pan out for me, but sure kicked me in the ass to move on and faster and more efficiently...i owe u tons, kitty...just think what that one night did to me....not even 19 yrs of marriage to my x did that to me..damn..damn..just wish me luck as i do for u...peace...love u..pete

  • This is my favorite Lou Gramm song.

  • Mick Jones is an A-hole but without him, this incredible voice quite probably would have went undiscovered other than local bands so I have to thank Jones for that.

  • @tryithere Of course without Gramm, Mick Jones probably would have went undiscovered too.

  • I enjoy seeing videos with the Twin Towers in them, makes me sad, though...great memories...the 80's.

  • His best solo effort. I'm hooked on this song right now.

  • Written by the great Holly Knight of course!

  • this song takes me back to senior year....I love it, but it's almost painful to hear it and recall where I was at that point.....

  • Lou..the epitome of rock perfection!

  • Lou, one of the best rock and roll voices of all time!

  • I turned 12 in 1989. This song puts me right back there.

  • please scotty beam me up to the 80ths...

  • I love Lou Gramm!

  • My marriage to my first wife ended the week this came out. That is why this song always brings back such good memories. The best 2 years of my life followed.

  • Lou hit #6 in Billboard, 1-27-90. God bless ya, brother Lou! Thanx, Skippy, for postin' it. Have a great weekend!

  • The Rolling Stone review of this when it came out said Lou has the 'perfect hard rock voice'. Amen, but Lou's solo stuff always has an extra dimension and depth 99% of rock bands can't touch.

  • I heard he did this solo of Foreigner. This true?

  • @awakeatnight1

Yes it's true. Foreigner has no part in this song..it's his.

  • this is a great fucking song....many memories, lost opportunities, new opportunites(i hope).......damn..damn..damn....l, k. r, e........lost ...and never had a chance..fuck....

  • King of Paiyiiiiiiiin!!!!

  • Heard this on a ski trip in the 6th grade, I'm 33 now. Never knew who sung it or anything. Thanks for posting, been looking for this song forever!

  • chorus is very good

  • worst song ever? just kidding its pretty good.

  • sounds like richard marx

  • @TommyChevyBugle Richard Marx?? Not to me it doesn't.

  • @TommyChevyBugle lol He wishes he sounded like Lou!!!

  • @TommyChevyBugle You mean that Richard Marx sounds like current (post-tumor) Lou...NOT former (pre-tumor) Lou, don't you??

  • @response007 i havent heard them sing lately but back in the day they sound the same and rock the same mullet look

  • magnifico¡¡ Lou Gramm

  • 1 of the best voices in music history!

  • This song not only sounds great- even after nearly two decades, it has a powerful and meaningful message!

  • @mattcares No it's not from a movie. They were shot for the video.

  • How does this video only have 63k views? It's absolutely amazing <3

  • Lou Gramm !!!! when he sings with Foreigner, Shadow King, Black Sheep or "alone" his voice is always the best, magic !!!!!!!!!!!!! he is a real icon !!!

  • Is that the lady from SVU?

  • I actually thought it was Richard Marx who sang this because they sound the same!

  • another dumb video for a very nice song and i dont know about you guys but i hate bw videos

  • one of the very best voices in music... =)

  • 3 people actually dislike this song, hell, son go get my gun got three parasites to take care of !!!

  • About 00:01, Doesn't the skyline give you a knot in your gut?

  • yes it does... hard to believe its going to be 10 years...

  • I waited 20 years to know who sing this song...Finally I found it. Thanks !!

  • NICE LOOKING CHICK FROM WHICH MOVIE IS THIS ONE? :-)

  • lou and foreinger came out at a great time disco was rampant and rock needed a shot in the arm they did it oh yea van halen came out around that time too

  • @eubanky2112 You are correct .......Loverboy also broke through at this time.

  • I too could not remember the title or artist of this song-I have been searching literally everywhere!! Oh what a relief! I was thinking Starship because of the voice-boy was I wrong. Great song-thanks for posting this.

  • @cloudchaserify lou gramm reminds you of starship vocally? ouch, what a slam against Lou, lol

  • @kcmet79 Was just going on memory-bad memory I guess-lol

  • Great Song & the Video SHot in B&W is a Great Touch!

  • This is the kind of music they should sing on American Idol.....even thought they'll screw it up

  • One of my absolute favourite songs!

  • "don't make an open book out of my private heart". I LOVE that line.

  • nice song and beautiful lady

  • If there was a time machine, I pack up all my belonging and move back to the 80's.

  • @gmx101

dude thats now my facebook status

  • @gmx101 Ain't that the truth the 80's was the best, i lived the 80's and loved every minute of it. never regret all the fun that came out of the 80's and know the only regret i have is i can't go back and relive the fun.

  • @ward1691 Strange, I keep thinking that one day I am going back to those days, perhaps I'm psychic?

  • @gmx101 Can I come with?

  • amazing drummer in this. listen close. is it Manu Katche (same drummer that drummed on Sting - All This Time) hmmm...

  • Classic!

  • Es mi canción favorita de Lou. Qué voz que tiene este hombre!!!. Fiuuu, fiuuu :)

  • One thing I don't understand is why this song gets almost zero air time on the so-called pop music stations in SoCal. But then, a lot of great songs have been tossed onto the ash heap of history.

  • @Broadsidejohn You gotta understand that just because this song was a Billboard top 10 hit in 1990 doesn't mean that the song itself was actually good. Billboard Charts are based on sales meaning what the public buys doesn't determine what is good which is why radio DJ's are provided with a list of songs to play. There were a lot of terrible hits in 1990 like ''I'll Be Your Everything'' by Tommy Page which I don't see how that went to #1.

  • @PopCulture20 Yeah. you have a point there. I didn't even remember that Tommy Page song. God awful. I don't even think I've ever heard it before. It is fairly dripping. But I suppose enough young girls were taken with the sentiment. But I don't put much credence in top 30 ratings anyway. Did I mention that its a God awful song? But I still like Just Between You And Me, no matter where it wound up on the charts. Are you saying that DJ's are provided with a playlist based on popularity?

  • @Broadsidejohn Who ever the powers-that-be are that's over these radio stations, which I'm guessing are the record labels, are the ones who provide the playlist for the DJ's to play but I'm not exactly sure which is why I'm looking into all of that just to stimulate my brain lol 90s music in general didn't really stick to one style like the previous decades. 90s music was just all over the place with Grunge, New Jack Swing, Gangsta Rap, Boy Bands, Post-Disco, Singer-Songwriter revival lol

  • @PopCulture20 Thanks for the info! I would have to agree with you, even with my limited pop music knowledge of the 90's. I seriously started listening to talk radio for the most part, because the pop music scene was so depressing.

  • @Broadsidejohn and yes that Tommy Page song was a HOT MESS!!!! But it was all about girls falling in love his looks & not the quality of his music.

  • @Broadsidejohn to finish my post, you can tell 1990 as a struggling year for hits because the 90s was trying to get away from the previous decades of music & trying to find it's own place in pop music history.

  • @PopCulture20 Hmm. I guess so. Also the disaster of rap came on the scene in full force and real music retreated to other forms, like a swing and ballad resurgence. Think that is why the 90's, music wise, is so forgettable?

  • One last hurrah of the 80's, which is being remembered as a golden age of rock music. Terrific song and a reminder of what once was out there, and the crap being put out now by the recording industry. Great song. Many thanks for the posting.

  • muy buen tema lou!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thank you KROGER for playing the only good music worth listening to anymore!

  • EXCELENT SONG OF 89

  • very nice 0:13

  • I love this song! It's been soooo long since I heard it!

  • One of the better songs that closed out the 80's. 1989 I believe.....sure brings back the really great memories of the 80's.......sure miss them.....

  • played for years on the radio!..never known that it was the great lou gramm!..thx!

  • Love this song!

  • Oh my gosh I'm so in love with this song.. And I'm 14.... :P

  • born in the 90s but still love 80s music

  • Man this video brings back memories of staying up late on Friday & Saturday night watching Night Tracks & Chartbusters on TBS. Great times & memories.

  • Saw him and his new band at Velvet Sessions in Orlando, 2007. AWESOME SHOW and he can still ROCK!!!

  • I really like the photography in the scenes with Lou, but the unconvincing soap opera that frames them seems really cheaply produced.

  • The beat sounds so much like "King of Pain" by The Police...I think that makes it really catchy (I love that song). Even though it's from 1989 it sounds like 84 or something.

  • @JPMcFly1985 I thought I was the only one who thought this song sounded a lot like "King of Pain" by the Police, they definitely sound similar to each other

  • This song's good, but the drums kick major ass!!

  • @sagan1976 Yeah I have to agree with you on that,it's what made me take notice of this song and incase you didn't know already the drummer is Lou Gramm's brother!

  • 10000000000000000 d 10000000000000000

  • He was and is great.

  • This song has been trapped in my head for years but I could not remember the artist or the song. And, I finally found it. What a relief!

  • @weareclouds I love when that happens!!

  • @weareclouds isnt that the best feeling. lol.. Finally!

  • Same...lol

  • @weareclouds the same EXACT thing happened to me i heard this song a long time ago like 12 years ago and it has been in my head every since and i just found it haha crazy

  • @weareclouds the same EXACT thing happened to me i heard this song a long time ago like 12 years ago and it has been in my head every since and i just found it haha crazy

  • @weareclouds and when did you learn about google? years? really? OMG. but i'm happy it worked out for you .

  • @weareclouds One of my favorite singers. A singer's singer.

  • That hair. Those eyes!

    Oh MY!

  • He is soo dayum good looking here!! Good gracious!!!

  • This was supposed to be the armagedon song, until steven tyler killed lou in a back alley in kansas city 1995

  • too bad no one listened to him in the 80s, Could have stopped world hunger.

  • LOU GRAMM WAS THE MAN WAY BACK WHEN ...

TODAY IS OLD AND FAT .....

JUST LIKE ME !! THIS IS ONE OF HIS BEST !!

  • @oceans20113 cut Lou some slack, he had a brain tumor and his meds F'd with his health/weight. He still looks great to me!

  • 23olds1` Dad was RIGHT !

  • WHAT A CLASSIC JAM!!!!!

  • Does anyoneone who the lady is in this video. Her hair is almost too short. I think this video. Describes everyone's realtionship. My father always said " less said , best said". When you say something,. Be carefull what you say. It's like firing a pistol. When you pull the trigger. You cannot bring that bullet back. He was a former SCHP. South Carolina Highway Patrolman in the 60's . Not on here to preach to anyone. Just giving some advise.

  • wow this takes me back

  • LOU GRAMM is AWESOME!!! AND JUST BETWEEN ME AND MICK JONES YOU SUCK!!!!! WITHOUT LOU YOUR SCREWED YOU GREEDY FUCK!!!

  • @MsRowdyOne

Mick is an old fool .... but Lou can't sing like he used to ...

So now we have a new Foreigner line up with a younger man singing ...

But it will never be the same ....EVER

  • even if heaven and earth collide tonight

  • no dislikes just the way it should be for such a great vocalist

  • Lou, has one of the most powerful male voices, ever. When Foreigner were 'harder', he was a class act. Outside of that: he still is. He could sing a lullabye and he'd still, deliver.

Set in New York City. Good stuff comes out of Rochester, NY.

  • @EasilyWowed I thought he was from Buffalo??

  • @RosannasMom He is from rochester my band records at the same studio as Lou!!!

  • Love this one!

  • love lou...i mean, LOVE LOU.

  • Classic video. Black & White. Short and to the point! Missed these videos....

  • one of my fav tunes. Lou rules.

  • This Vid and Song i was serching for over 8 long years ^^

    Lou and Foreigner 4 ever

  • This song really should be considered a power ballet. It is incredible.

  • Played the song today as part of my Lost 80's Classica feature on my radio show. It is a great song!!

  • Great discovering this vid here, magical song !

  • Was this song ever considered a power ballad? I like this song and this song seems to be very underappreciated

  • He lives! Yeah Lou is just a shadow of his former self ( like many of our heroes) yet, he's still better than most of the crap today, especially, what he's been through. Recently,I've come to LOVE rather than just like a lot of these band's/artist from my yesterday. TRUE BLUE LOVE is another hidden treasure from LOU.

  • A Hometown heroe here in Rochester ,NY ! Lou we all love you.

  • @1974nyarlathotep

Lou Gramm .... No Foreigner w/o this man !!!!!!!!!!

  • Why dont they make music like this anymore.

  • @shermanator7373 the world is filled with hate and people now 2011 are addicted to the drama and only attracted too things that will bring you trauma.

  • Best song, ever.

  • Great song.... i love music from the 80`s, thanks for sharing.

  • mi epoca de secundaria-bachillerato

  • wow oldie but goodie, wat 1991??
