I'll admit I'm one of those who thought it was Richard Marx! But in my defense, they play this song at work all the time and the overhead music isn't the clearest. I knew it sounded a little too emotionally charged to be him (don't mind his stuff actually) though and I'm glad I now know what song this is! Going on my itunes now!
Lou..simply one of the best voices of the last 30 years. I'd put him up there with Brad Delp of Boston, and Steve Perry. Jimi Jamison of Survivor is another guy that could hold his own with anyone.
My work has sattelite radio and they play lots of 80's 90's music on it. Been playing this lots lately and although I could sing every word I couldn't remember who sang it so here I am lol. Gosh I miss the 80's back when music was music and it was fun!!
another tearjerker, for sure..damn..damn..damn..damn..damn....another lost love that i would have died for, kitty..didnt pan out for me, but sure kicked me in the ass to move on and faster and more efficiently...i owe u tons, kitty...just think what that one night did to me....not even 19 yrs of marriage to my x did that to me..damn..damn..just wish me luck as i do for u...peace...love u..pete
Mick Jones is an A-hole but without him, this incredible voice quite probably would have went undiscovered other than local bands so I have to thank Jones for that.
My marriage to my first wife ended the week this came out. That is why this song always brings back such good memories. The best 2 years of my life followed.
The Rolling Stone review of this when it came out said Lou has the 'perfect hard rock voice'. Amen, but Lou's solo stuff always has an extra dimension and depth 99% of rock bands can't touch.
this is a great fucking song....many memories, lost opportunities, new opportunites(i hope).......damn..damn..damn....l, k. r, e........lost ...and never had a chance..fuck....
Lou Gramm !!!! when he sings with Foreigner, Shadow King, Black Sheep or "alone" his voice is always the best, magic !!!!!!!!!!!!! he is a real icon !!!
lou and foreinger came out at a great time disco was rampant and rock needed a shot in the arm they did it oh yea van halen came out around that time too
I too could not remember the title or artist of this song-I have been searching literally everywhere!! Oh what a relief! I was thinking Starship because of the voice-boy was I wrong. Great song-thanks for posting this.
@gmx101 Ain't that the truth the 80's was the best, i lived the 80's and loved every minute of it. never regret all the fun that came out of the 80's and know the only regret i have is i can't go back and relive the fun.
One thing I don't understand is why this song gets almost zero air time on the so-called pop music stations in SoCal. But then, a lot of great songs have been tossed onto the ash heap of history.
@Broadsidejohn You gotta understand that just because this song was a Billboard top 10 hit in 1990 doesn't mean that the song itself was actually good. Billboard Charts are based on sales meaning what the public buys doesn't determine what is good which is why radio DJ's are provided with a list of songs to play. There were a lot of terrible hits in 1990 like ''I'll Be Your Everything'' by Tommy Page which I don't see how that went to #1.
@PopCulture20 Yeah. you have a point there. I didn't even remember that Tommy Page song. God awful. I don't even think I've ever heard it before. It is fairly dripping. But I suppose enough young girls were taken with the sentiment. But I don't put much credence in top 30 ratings anyway. Did I mention that its a God awful song? But I still like Just Between You And Me, no matter where it wound up on the charts. Are you saying that DJ's are provided with a playlist based on popularity?
@Broadsidejohn Who ever the powers-that-be are that's over these radio stations, which I'm guessing are the record labels, are the ones who provide the playlist for the DJ's to play but I'm not exactly sure which is why I'm looking into all of that just to stimulate my brain lol 90s music in general didn't really stick to one style like the previous decades. 90s music was just all over the place with Grunge, New Jack Swing, Gangsta Rap, Boy Bands, Post-Disco, Singer-Songwriter revival lol
@PopCulture20 Thanks for the info! I would have to agree with you, even with my limited pop music knowledge of the 90's. I seriously started listening to talk radio for the most part, because the pop music scene was so depressing.
@Broadsidejohn to finish my post, you can tell 1990 as a struggling year for hits because the 90s was trying to get away from the previous decades of music & trying to find it's own place in pop music history.
@PopCulture20 Hmm. I guess so. Also the disaster of rap came on the scene in full force and real music retreated to other forms, like a swing and ballad resurgence. Think that is why the 90's, music wise, is so forgettable?

Man this video brings back memories of staying up late on Friday & Saturday night watching Night Tracks & Chartbusters on TBS. Great times & memories.
The beat sounds so much like "King of Pain" by The Police...I think that makes it really catchy (I love that song). Even though it's from 1989 it sounds like 84 or something.
@JPMcFly1985 I thought I was the only one who thought this song sounded a lot like "King of Pain" by the Police, they definitely sound similar to each other

Does anyoneone who the lady is in this video. Her hair is almost too short. I think this video. Describes everyone's realtionship. My father always said " less said , best said". When you say something,. Be carefull what you say. It's like firing a pistol. When you pull the trigger. You cannot bring that bullet back. He was a former SCHP. Lou, has one of the most powerful male voices, ever. When Foreigner were 'harder', he was a class act. Outside of that: he still is. He could sing a lullabye and he'd still, deliver.
