I only watched this once, and we named our daughter after Kachiri- only did we spell her name different. We wanted to spell it how they spell it in the movie. I dedicate this movie to my daughter Katchirii. May Katchirii R.I.P. May 2000
great piece of film ...i saw this years ago on tv and recently bought it on amazon, im glad that we are starting to see the value of these idigenous people. and the wealth of knowledge and culture that they represent. they serve as a reminder to our past and how we can survive in nature, without the so called neccessities. everything we need to survive is around us these people have been doing it for centuries.
They saw a wild indian tribe from plane or helicopter a few years ago, and instead of contacting them they now protect a large area arond the place where the tribe was spotted. Just a decade or two ago they would have beeb bothered by missionaries, loggers, gold prospectors, oil drillers and crap, so it looks like things are improving a bit down there:)
Incredible to find this trailer and to learn this films title. I saw it 7 or 8 years old, just about a quarter of a century ago. It has sat in my mind ever since. Beautiful, thrilling and sad all at once... Thanks!!
@thedarknesscallingme and that movie is 26 years ago..so count out how much of the huge amazone rainforest is gone in those years from then till now...
true, though efforts to save or even increase the size of the rainforrest via replantation have increased over the years. ultimately its the minority who have the power to destroy the world and the majority suffer for it
I remember watching this film back in the earlie 90's forgot what it was called, after all these years BBC put the film on yesterday.
The Tomme guy looked so familiar and I couldn't put to mind who he is, then I IMBD the film and he is the actor played by Charley Boorman who is well known in the UK by travelling with Ewan McGregor... and does travelling programmes.

amazing film, beautiful and yet tragic at the same time. it said at the end that 40,000 acres of rainforest are destroyed each year.

This is a great film. I mean, watch it bearing in mind when it was made - but it's still one of my favourites :)
