IHL is International Hockey League it has existed twice the first time was from 1945-2001, the Fort WAyne Indiana Komets were in that league from the beginning until the end of the 1998-99 season. It was made up of 16 teams mostly out of Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.

The KOmets then played in the UHL (United Hockey League) from the 99-00 season thru the 06-07 season which again was basically teams from Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and one team from Elmira NY. In the 07-08 season the IHL was reformed with just 6 teams the Fort WAyne IN Komets, Port Huron MI Icehawks, FLint MI Generals, Musegon MI Fury, Kalamazoo MI WIngs, and Bloomington IL Prairie Thunder.
