got a brand new dishwasher from frigidaire it's making the humming sound but the blades wont spin. it wont come on at all no water or anything. don't know what the problem is every thing is hooked up correctly and still getting nothing but noise.
mine is almost 2 years old, and have had 4 motors installed under warranty, now its starting to make noise again. will try the vinegar thing. does the disposer blade spin all the time or just a short time every so often ? i may try to see if the disposer blade is hitting the plastic cap - will see.
The vinegar trick works. Just found this video and was almost ready to call a repairman. Waited til main wash and dumped in one of those small jugs of vinegar. Next load of dishes it is completely quiet
Stolicow, thank you for posting this...and NeedsToSing, thank you for the vinegar trick. Our Fridgidaire sounded like a Cessna taking off from our kitchen. I saw this post and threw a half a bottle of apple cider vinegar in while it was running. (its all we had on hand) Quiet again. Much appreciated.
I have done it with dishes in it already at the beginning of the cycle, but you can do it without dishes too. If you throw it in in the beginning the humming sound should be noticeably less within 10 sec- 1 min.
We had the same problem with our frigidaire and my husband put something under the motor to support it and that helped the noise some. I had him throw in 2 cups of vinegar (we noticed it again after starting a load of dishes) and it sounds MUCH better. We've had it for a year and a half almost. Try the vinegar...worked for us.
@stolicow Have you tried the vinegar on your dishwasher? I'm having problems with my Frigidaire dishwasher too and i'm trying to get confirmation about the vinegar fix. :)
I live in a city with notoriously hard water, and the noise started after 6 months of use.As suggested in one of the DIY sites, I added one pint of vinegar during the main wash cycle, and the noise was dramatically reduced. Then I repeated the same procedure, except I ran a heavy duty cycle, and the noise entirely disappeared. There must have been scale built up in the circulating pump/impeller. Just be sure that you wait until the initial rinse cycle is over and the tub refills before adding.
ugh y did u buy a frigidaire dishwasher when you have a very nice kitchen?? A very nice kitchen deserves a miele or bosch but not a crappy american dishwasher. European dishwasher are far more reliable than frgidaires and kenmoers kitchenaids etc. Mieles and boschs can run up to 20 years tested and usually more
P.S. BE CAREFUL WHILE UNDER THE DISHWASHER! There are live wires and parts with electricity running through them both during the cycle and when the cycle is off.
FYI: I have the same problem. I discovered that it was the pump assembly. If you look under the dishwasher while it is running you can probably find the part of the assembly that's causing the problem. All I did was plane down a piece of wood to fit (7/8") and support the assembly. I think it's caused by the weight of the water causing the pump to drop causing the propellers to hit the edges of the pump as a result. Support the pump and the noise should stop.
To prevent the code HD (heat delay) from occurring, make sure you run the hot water in your closest sink for at least a minute...this will help make sure the dishwasher is filling with hot water.
@NeedsToSing is owed a big THANK YOU! We have been fighting with Fridigidaire for 6 months on this same problem. Tonight, I tried adding a cup of vinegar and within 30 seconds, the noise was gone!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!
The vinegar worked? Really? Cool! I always wondered why they said to put a cup of vinegar in the dishwasher/start it/run it, when the first wash always drains so soon, leaving none of the vinegar.......So u wait til the main wash to add it......I'll try that. Thanks
Ok, we had the same problem with our frigidaire. I ran it empty with vinegar, about 2 cups. I had to wait though for the main wash, and then added the vinegar. I did this twice and the sound is gone. It's caused by detergent residue building up on the shaft seal of the motor. But you have to wait until it fills for the main wash, to add the vinegar so it has time to clean out the parts.
@Emanuelcoco Bom, certamente vc não sabe inglês, senão leria o título que diz que a lava-louças apresenta problemas no rolamento do motor, e daí sai o barulho..
