  • I want this video on my HC 1000 unit.

  • Your vid is a favorite on Malaysia

  • This is an awesome example of engineering, and yes leno's car with RR engine is crazy, but " Brutus" is even more crazy with a 48litre engine!! check that out!

  • An excellent machine! I would love to drive to the petrol station and piss all over the pathetic Wayne Rooney wannabe chavs in their Saxos, filling up their 1.1's with 5" exhausts with Shell V-Power thinking they "get more power".

  • wait what is this engine from?

  • @FDTA94 From a tank. It's a Rolls Royce Meteor.

  • @FDTA94 It's sent straight from Thor!

  • Brilliant... put a great engine in a pile of junk!

  • 24 litre V12 tank engine version of a Rolls Royce Merlin of Spitfire, Mustang, Lancaster fame. Built by Rover.

  • with the right amount of money everything is possible, even going for a walk on the moon,

  • My dad had an SD1 with a V8 (Rover Vitesse), and I remember is as being a big, heavy car. Now the size of the engine in this one must really seem insanely HUGE while standing next to it. Nice job!

  • Is this own build engine? 27.000CC? THIS IS FUCKING FUCKING FUCKING FUCKING FUCKING CRAZY!!!

  • @emllos It´s a tank engine, google said. But it has "only" 810 hp if it is a injection type.

  • @gtfreakmotzi o thanks:) I didn't have idea to searh information about this FUCKING CRAZY MOTOR:) One more time thanks:)

  • So lets get an Old RollsRoyce, and extend it a bit and put a RR/Merlin engine in it.......Anyone?

  • @jeepers2655

If you haven't seen: youtube.com/watch?v=OxMxFE37Sxw You should do!

  • @jeepers2655

Been done. Jay Leno owns one of the surviving examples.

  • At least you dont need screen heating!

  • makes the 3.5 look a bit tame.

    :-)

  • Anyone else tired of every car video on here having some dumbass post of "i just came" or " i got hard"? IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE!!!!

  • Love the sticker: " Practial car "

  • @barthoedemaker

It's actually Practical Perfromance car - which is a car magazine here in England.

  • @simes205 Hehe yeah i know, was just joking around, peace..

  • jesus mary and joseph.

  • i just cum

  • the engines more in the cabin then the driver.... ha !

  • Love that noise,

  • probably be more economical and DEFINITELY more reliable than the stock motor....

  • Check out our FUNNY SPOOF ads, featuring this car & its driver ....

    Go to our Channel PPCMagazine

  • seen this guy at the crappy car shows in melton mowbray. pitty there is no footage of him flooring it.

  • holy man, i didnt even realize that the engine went behind the 'windshield'

  • 'practical car magazine'

  • LOL, of course! What could be more practical than a 2,000HP 27-liter car? Just what all the soccer-moms need to get the kids to school and pick up the groceries, right? Almost as handy as the turboshaft-powered minivan! XP

  • 1/2mpg

  • big baalls

  • The other videos I've seen of this car had dual exhaust going out the backi, but in this you can see the grass behind the front wheels rippling when he revs it up. What gives?

  • Air From the cooling fans,

  • Maybe, but it looks more like the way that exhaust ripples the grass. But I guess the fan makes more sense, really. Thanks.

  • it needs 8 pints of fuel every minute to run witch is about 2 mile to the gallon maybe less when he is thrashing it :-)

  • madness..................... I LIKE IT!

  • Comment removed

  • Englisch people : Crasy poeple:-)!!

  • It´s English, not Englisch xDDD and Crazy not Crasy ROFLMAO, maybe time to learn English, whole world speaks up.

  • Sorry if I mix sometime English and German...It s not bad for a frog like me.Perhaps you can mix English with nothing, because you can only English.I can French,Englich,German,I understand Italian well and I had spanish at school. And you?

    Anyway you andestand me :-)

    A Rover Fan!

  • Agreed. Anyone making efforts in a foreign tongue is to be applauded, not ridiculed. To be understood is important, to be perfect is not. Well done Denisfraison08. kregzdeM3 does not have a broad mind (and his/her English is poor anyway).

  • I agree...I'll bet kregzdeM3 is an American. Every other country in the world speaks at least two languages in general, while we think that everyone should just learn to speak English. I can at least speak a little French, enough to communicate, and that makes it easier to understand Spanish, etc.

  • Good job on being multi-lingual. I didn't laugh at you. Maybe kregzde should learn some grammar and punctuation?

  • @Denisfraison08 thankyou, we do try:)

  • charlie broomfield you are every mans hero! foook!

  • does it do anything other than ruin ya ear drums ? geez.

  • white power

  • Eh?

  • Double Eh? i wonder that myself

  • triple Eh ?!?!?!

  • i wouldn't mind some performance figures on that car :P

  • I just love this car, I reckon the guy made a fantastic job of it, 200mph? no problem!

the only thing Iwould change is that it would have ended up looking like a standard sd1 a bit more, no sidepipes and a more vitesse style appearance, but I love those wheels and the scoop is great too, not too whacky, I like that.

    great car full stop.

  • all i can say is whats the point?

  • P O W E R

  • is it wrong I read that in the Jeremy Clarkson voice? "POWERRRRRRRRR"

  • egzactly ;)

  • why does everything in life has to have a point?

everyone has their own reasons to do what they do. If you don't get them, well, that's your problem.

  • I bet the proud owner gets christmas cards from all the OPEC oil producers.

All very well going to Tesco's , but they don't have 100 Octane. I hope the beast will run on the ordinary hippy p**s.

  • "I've just bought are new car for in the city, what do you think love?"

Miles per gallon? More like miles per polar bear!

    Beast of an engine.

  • AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA good one

  • MPG is HAHA/city and WTF/highway. have to admit tho looks liek would be FUN to drive. i hope there is a driving video of this thing

  • yamahonka-

LOL, funny. But when you think about it, he probably spends way LESS on gas for this beast than he does for his regular car, since he probably doesn't drive this thing to often! I wonder if it's even road-legal?

  • Heck he could probably idle it and break the posted speed limit. but damn, all impracticality aside, i WANT ONE

  • Fully road legal, Charlie took it on a road trip to the Nurburgring with the magazine he writes for recently...wonder if the fuel was on expenses!

  • "just poppin down the shops love...." lol

  • HOLY ASS!: o

  • Saw this tonight at our local free car show... What a beast! Thanks for bringing it to show us. :-)

  • right santa fisr on my wish list is a one of these monsters!!!

  • I've had the privalege of seeing this in the metal as it was stored at my mates workshop for a while. Charlie is a mad genius!

  • mental

  • amazing ....

but seems like clearences too much...

    maybe not hot

  • authmaax

Are you talking about the engine running cold? The pistons don't fit tightly until they warm up some, but I don't see what makes you think that it's not warmed up.

  • the last moment of desaceleration...

sounds like metal to metal hitting

  • Maybe, or it's just the microphone distorting. I know the valvetrains on these can be real loud. The valves are a lot bigger than the ones in your car! (And they weren't real big on NVH reduction back then =P)

  • Go Charlie, Great work.

  • MPG

  • haha, -1?

  • all he needs now is a propellar

  • He is not gonna be happy with today's fuel prices!! with that 27 liter monster hehe

  • Thats a... deathtrap! :|

  • now that is a ressessed firewall!!!

  • Once, I heard a guy saying that there's no replacement for displacemet... now I'm begining to understand.

  • that engine is a lil too small for the car lmao, j/p that would be cool

  • This is real TOPGEAR!!!!very NICE

  • Cool car this, hope the gearbox problems are sorted soon. Nice work Charlie :O)

  • Charlie is an engineering hero.

  • Man this is a dream...imagine tuning this engine to a point where its whisper quiet+ tuning it so well to produce 3000Nm from idle to 5000rpm and get some tall gearing for seamless driveability:)

  • Who wants a silent Meteor engine?!!!

  • Yep, that roars the best part, what fun would the beast be if it was muzzled!

  • Sounds like a tank LOL!!

    Amazing work!!!

  • It sounds like a tank because a Meteor is a tank engine! LOL, but maybe that's why you said that?

  • Sounds like a tnak LOL!!!

    Amazing work!

  • Yeah, its a Rover Meteor, it's basically a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 without the blower and it was fitted to tanks.

  • i was talking to them at santa pod retro car show

  • thats charlie's rover he works for practial performance cars mag they also have a rolls royce silver shadow as a track day car buy it now

  • Yeah, I've been following the build of both these cars for a while. Was nice to see them both at Goodwood and the Shadow at Le Mans also.

  • I saw this car when it was MOT'd it was awsome.
