My Ideal is one of my favorite Richard Whiting songs. And while I really like this version of the song I think his daughter's (Margaret) recording some years later is the definitive one!

I seem to recall seeing an NBC publicity shot with Fran and "Hotcha" Gardner resting their chins on a 4A - a pretty odd composition but it showed them both in profile, as "book ends."
@RatPfink66, I've never seen that shot -- but since my 4A measures only six inches square, I'd say Fran and Hotcha got to know each other more than they wanted.
Wonderful recordings done beautifully as usual. Both tunes are from the delightful Maurice Chevalier film "The Playboy Of Paris". In the film the song "My Ideal" was just a throw away, it wasn't so much sang as talked through, a rather missed opportunity. I was glad to hear this version,..great melody.

Nice one. Was this both sides of the same record?

@bostonblakie, Yes, the B side is "My Ideal" with vocal by Fran Frey who also plays that sweet alto sax.
