When and why did they decide to use Mike and John on the back-up vocals on albums? They used just James on their first few albums, then they changed that. Just wanna know.
as far as i know is not james' job, at least no in the studio, and mike and john doing back vocals it's ben like that since falling into infinity, and actually although not credited i think petrucci does back-up in the silent man, and he does does it in live perfomances of that song.

i think he's just strinking the note agian so it doesn't die out, but he's doing it with the bend, so it doesn't sound like multiple strikes....just my thoughts though.

Im sorry but you must not know your drummers very well, portnoy has a way bigger drumset than peart, peart is big but portnoy is about twice the size, and the only person i can think of right now who is bigger than portnoy is terry bozzio
He is responsible for the band in general...he even produces the albums...so I can understand his "tell at as it is" side..he wants to make sure he delivers good material for us fans :-D
well said Navorek but with dream theater portnoy is a good singer and hes been interviewed about being lead singer in some songs and he doesnt want to, now daron malakian of system of a down has a huge ego and thiunks hes amazing and hes not that great at singing, dont get me wrong i loooovee soad but daron needs to lay off especially in mezmerize/hypnotize
