Does incline bench press work the delts to much? I like putting it in my chest exercises but it seems to work the delts like many shoulder exercises..
@scooby1961 you might be able to fool these people, but iv been a personal trainier for about 2 and a half years. and i have NEVER in my entire life. never mind short career.

I happen to for factualy that you are taking anabolics of some kind. cant fool em all can we scooby.
@Frankii3 You have been a personal trainer for 2.5 years? I started lifting before you were born, you have no idea what is possible with three decades of lifting. BTW, unless you like jail, you might want to be careful about spouting off damaging things that you "know", its called libel - you might want to look up what it means.
I tried signing up for the forum, but to no avail.
Won't bother you with the login details and email and whatnot, but could you be so kind to put me in contact with one of your forum admins? We can delete this later.
When i do military press i do it on a completely flat bench and just sit straight up, that way if you cheat and lean back you will feel it in your abs.
I have never seen people do what you are saying they do. People seem to sit right at the gyms I've been to in Vegas. The mistake they make is too many reps and locking the elbows at the apex.
It's funny how a lot of the bigger guys at the gym pack on the weight and severely arch their backs when doing bench and incline press. My friend was spotting a guy just last week and we couldn't believe how much he was arching. We were thinking about saying something to him about it, but weren't sure how he would take the criticism.
@MisterSonnyJay Exactly! Yes, powerlifters arch the back! As you say, they generate power from their legs and other body parts to maximize the lift. As a bodybuilder, your goal is not to lift a maximum of weight but rather to optimally exercise each muscle to make it stronger and bigger. Powerlifters want a max lift and they dont care if they have to recruit every muscle in their body to achieve it.
@MrHerrIQ Well, it just seems to me that arching that much isn't good for your back. You're not working the muscles that the exercise is intended to work (like this video says). And as far as "bigger" guys, Scooby is in great shape, and he says that arching is not correct form, so take it for what it's worth.
If you think Scooby hasn't arched, then good luck with that conclusion.
You need to push yourself. When you push yourself, you make funny faces, funny sounds and you arch. Anything to do that last rep or get that certain weight up.
It's these kind of excercises that is risky to do because you can injure yourself, but it's also these kind of excercises that break down muscle fibers the most.
You cant think about controlling the weight, etc. You wont grow as much.
@MrHerrIQ I guess I should clarify myself. When I say arch, I'm talking extreme arching, where your back and butt isn't even touching the bench. I don't think Scooby has done that when he does flat bench. And yes, I agree with you about making funny faces, sounds, etc. That definitely helps. Another thing I notice with some of the guys at the gym I attend is that they don't even have a spotter. Talk about dangerous, especially with a lot of weight.
@johnnyjohnson Dont bother giving someone with horrible form like that pointers, you will have an enemy for life. Just smile and say "wow, you are really strong". Wait till they confide in you their annoyance at their lack of progress, thats a good time to tactfully suggest that good form might help them.
@l337Gamerl337 My arms are smaller? Gee, thanks for pointing that out! :) I havent been able to do any upper body workout for about 4 months due to my shoulder surgery. The upper body muscle mass will come back when I can workout again, whenever that is :)
scooby can you please make a video on how to add mass and more weight for guys like me out there, thanks alot in advance, and your a great man i like your videos, peace
I get big shoulders and triceps real easy but have a harder time to gain pecs.
All that means, is that you ought to keep training, do your best and with time you will get suffciant result. It just take a longer time for you in these areas. Likewise you probably get shoulders, like me, much easier than others. There's people out there who do their best to get big shoulders but have a hard time. It's very individualistic. Hello Scooby, i need help. i am 15 yrs. 175cm tall and 70kg.. and i want to lose weight and get stronger. how and when how often should i workout? please help me. i feel fat.. :(

another question is does any of scooby's video talk about gaining weight? I'm not fat, rather skinny in fact, and I'd like to gain weight, in muscles and not fat.
@SorrowSacrifice Your muscles need time to heal, so if you're doing full body workouts on those days you can only do them every other day, maybe three days a week total.
Good nutrition and years of weight lifting, that's what's going to give you your muscle mass. Eat enough calories to maintain weight, don't eat too many!

@shouryuuken100 Everything I've heard about going behind the head is that its WAY harder on your rotator cuff and u don't see better results. so if u have even remotely bad shoulders stick to doing it in the front.
Hey Scooby, Been reading up on your website and following guides etc. Registered to your forum too. Been working out for 3 weeks now. I have been doing whole body workouts as I am a beginner. Is it ok to do workout every day?. Trying to get to grips with calories and protein intake at the moment. Will keep my progress updated on the forum. I am noticing muscle getting more developed and toned but still fat there. Time for more reading.
Hey scooby around this time people start to bulk up. I was wondering if you had any advice for endomporphs ( people who put on fat easy). Everyone talks about hard gainers but not the guys who put on fat easily. Appreciate all your help.
@St33ben No, don't lean against anything. The best option is to do military press standing, as it is also great for increasing your ''core'' strength.
If you look at a recent article on bodybuilding . com written by a Phd doctor/trainer in sports medicine. You will see an interesting study that illustrates 85% shoulder engagement during incline bench and rest (very little) upper chest. The best way according to them is to do reverse grip bench press and push with your chest, for maximum upper chest muscular activity. I have actually been doing a lot of reverse grip bench (flat) and its a good way to transfer that tension to your chest.
@drunkkangaroo...yeah..i think scooby weighs 245 lbs and is 6'3".
im 6'3" and 212 lbs so it is impressive to see how he maintains such a high weight with no fat. i just had thanksgiving last weekend away, and stuffed my face but didnt take in much protein or meals per day....i lost 2 lbs..lol..scooby is awesome.
Now that you mention this I completely notice all of my friends doing this at the gym, I wonder why they are "military pressing" so much weight, but its really just an incline. By the way, your abs look a lot bigger lately, I was wondering what some other good exercises with weight are for your abs, I've been doing your the super set in your video you posted about 2 years ago, I've been getting great results, but I think I should change my ab exercises soon. Thanks a lot
Hi Scooby i'm training in the parks - calisthenics exercises im 18 with normal weight and I only push myself so far on dips and bars but I've seen that people with less weight tend to be more resilient and go further. So I thought about a diet so mabye I can lose a couple of pounds even though I don't exactly need to. But my friends suggest that I should do a lot of weightlifting mainly for the shoulders. I have little interest in weightlifting currently but will that improve my core strenght?
Scooby I am doing workouts in my home with with a set of dumbells and barbell but I am also in martial arts 2 to 3 days a week. My question is: if I practice my martial arts monday, wednesday and friday and I also do my workouts 5 days in the week thats will make that I lose some mass and volume or its good and dont lose mass? Oh and I am using whey protein the days that I go to my practice. Thanks Scooby!
@KajHags Thanks Kaj, yep I have been working on getting leaner with my carb cycling. I'm following the precise meal plan as shown on my website and it WORKS!
Love your info as usual, I was thinking the same thing but it's already been said you're looking smaller haha. On the bright side your abs look much more detailed now.
Your advice on proper form was a real wake up call to me, I see people all the time packing on tons of weight for just about every excercise you can think of then they use just about every cheap trick you can think of to cheat their way through the workout , it's pathetic really.
@eeshenful Only two days a week to workout? Not sure what ability level you are but assuming you have been lifting less than a year I would just do whole body workouts twice a week. If you are more advanced than that then I would do lower body on one of the two days and upper body on the other day.
@scooby1961 Your contribution to the fight against "bro-science" is always good! I was wondering, what do you lift in squat, deadlift, benchpress and curls? :)
Wouldn't standing up be better for military press? That way you are sure to get a straight up and down exercise focusing on your deltoids. ...at least that is how I perform my military press (maybe I have the name wrong?).
Great video scooby, I actually notice this too lots of times at my school gym. People use heavy weights to show off thinking they are doing military presses when they are basically doing incline presses. I just laugh at how crooked and slouched they are.
@xCod3Blu3x Check out the forum at ScoobysWorkshop com. Scooby as well as others can help you with ALL of your fitness goals...and, as always, its free!
@xCod3Blu3x Do big weight w/ low reps to gain size? This ones correct. lifing heavy increases seize and strength, but lifting light weights with high reps does NOT make you cut. To get cut, you need to diet and do cardio.

You would be surprised at how many shoulder press seats my gym goes through every year because people pack on too much weight, use poor form and break the back rests.
@scooby1961 same when i had wrist surgery i lost 20 pounds, but i also had really bad food poinsoning that helped with the losing weight. im working out every day now trying to gain it back. its been 3 weeks and im still not seeing much improvement even though im killing myself at the gym. do you suggest anything?
I might be able to help, you probably shouldnt be strength training every day, see if you're training right with proper form and all then your muscles are going to be broken down, and they take rest in order to build up. Many bodybuilders only do one hardcore strength training seesion a week and let their muscles repair the rest of the week, if you're not at that level then I suggest working out 3 times a week and giveing your muscles rest days between workouts.
@stxlandil that helps thanks, but ive been only doing two muscle groups a day when i work out and do another two the next so i do have time to rest my muscles in between. but im just not seeing many results, i think it could be from too much cardio cause i think i might be losing some wieght from that haha

Can anybody tell can you still do military press with a chair? My bench doesnt go almost viertical.
St33ben 1 year ago
@St33ben No, don't lean against anything. The best option is to do military press standing, as it is also great for increasing your ''core'' strength.
0wenSlattery 1 year ago
$#@% i didnt realize i was doing a bench press the whole time.

@StamatisK do it in the channel or in he's website

Doesnt military bench also help in triceps?
EKmion 1 year ago
@EKmion: Every pressing-excercise also trains the triceps just like every pulling-excercise also trains the biceps.

I'm following the precise meal plan as shown on my website and it WORKS!
scooby1961 1 year ago 5
Love your info as usual, I was thinking the same thing but it's already been said you're looking smaller haha. On the bright side your abs look much more detailed now.
Your advice on proper form was a real wake up call to me, I see people all the time packing on tons of weight for just about every excercise you can think of then they use just about every cheap trick you can think of to cheat their way through the workout , it's pathetic really.
stxlandil 1 year ago
I can definitely understand that, Scoob. Thanks for the refresher.

Hey scooby, i only have 2 days a week to workout. how should i split my workout. like which muscle should i work on which day
eeshenful 1 year ago
@eeshenful Only two days a week to workout? Not sure what ability level you are but assuming you have been lifting less than a year I would just do whole body workouts twice a week. If you are more advanced than that then I would do lower body on one of the two days and upper body on the other day.

@scooby1961 Your contribution to the fight against "bro-science" is always good! I was wondering, what do you lift in squat, deadlift, benchpress and curls? :)

Wouldn't standing up be better for military press? That way you are sure to get a straight up and down exercise focusing on your deltoids. ...at least that is how I perform my military press (maybe I have the name wrong?).
robertmatthewking 1 year ago
Great video scooby, I actually notice this too lots of times at my school gym. People use heavy weights to show off thinking they are doing military presses when they are basically doing incline presses. I just laugh at how crooked and slouched they are.

Scooby, you won't answer this but maybe someone else will.
Is it true........
Do big weight w/ low reps to gain size?
and
Do smaller weight with high reps to get "cut"?
i just want a straight answer once and for all cause i'm already cut, but i can't seem to gain any size!!!
xCod3Blu3x 1 year ago
@xCod3Blu3x Check out the forum at ScoobysWorkshop com. Scooby as well as others can help you with ALL of your fitness goals...and, as always, its free!
robertmatthewking 1 year ago
@xCod3Blu3x Do big weight w/ low reps to gain size? This ones correct. lifing heavy increases seize and strength, but lifting light weights with high reps does NOT make you cut. To get cut, you need to diet and do cardio.

@hedbilll98 Whats going on? Its called shoulder surgery :)
scooby1961 1 year ago 14
@scooby1961 same when i had wrist surgery i lost 20 pounds, but i also had really bad food poinsoning that helped with the losing weight. im working out every day now trying to gain it back. its been 3 weeks and im still not seeing much improvement even though im killing myself at the gym. do you suggest anything?
verwilliar 1 year ago
@verwilliar
I might be able to help, you probably shouldnt be strength training every day, see if you're training right with proper form and all then your muscles are going to be broken down, and they take rest in order to build up. Many bodybuilders only do one hardcore strength training seesion a week and let their muscles repair the rest of the week, if you're not at that level then I suggest working out 3 times a week and giveing your muscles rest days between workouts.
stxlandil 1 year ago
@stxlandil that helps thanks, but ive been only doing two muscle groups a day when i work out and do another two the next so i do have time to rest my muscles in between. but im just not seeing many results, i think it could be from too much cardio cause i think i might be losing some wieght from that haha
