So to recap, short acceleration lane, uphill around a sharp curve, merging into the fast lane with traffic moving at 65+ mph. Now add big rigs to the equation.
I use this ramp daily. Had way too many close calls there.

Two days ago an 80 year old disoriented woman slammed her car right into mine when she was merging - she merged right into my car ! I was in the left non turning lane just going the way I supposed to go when she slammed into my left side where my son was sitting at. She hit my doors and back end of my car. She had the audacity to say that I probably was going too fast ! I think people over the age of 70 should be examined yearly if they still know how to drive safely to avoid road hazards!
q:30 show a horrific example of exiting traffic on the highway that clearly could have moved over in advance of the merging lane to anticiapte merging cars. While I think the US/Canada are generally better driver than many other countries worldwide, as a Brit driving in Canada and US, the frequent refusal of drivers to move over to allow merging or letting people in from side roads is something that bugged me no end. Even when there was no other traffic drivers often stayed in the right lane
The folks where I live literally like to match my speed as I try to get on the freeway... SO annoying.
I end up just having to really step on the gas early and fly by them into a gap before they get a chance to. Before you say that is dangerous to merge going 75-80, realize that it is that or coming to a near stop on the freeway. I would rather be going 5-10 over the speed of traffic than 30-40 under...
