yeah in the original the drums and clavinet are much louder. i prefer the mixing of the original version but the vocal work in this version is so awesome....i wish George would have left those vocals in the album version behind the lead vocals
@PerryCoxPF93 Wow, it's been over a year and no one has called you on this. I appreciate that you uploaded a rare mix of this track. But your explanation doesn't make sense - unless you mean there were two versions of the LP mix. It sounds more like you're talking about the 45 and the LP track. This is neither (unless it was on an earlier issue of the LP). The 45 was a Top 40 hit in the states in 1967 and Up For the Down Stroke included a mix like this with different backing vocals.
@freakyafronaut-There are two separate pressings of UFTDS. One of the pressings was distributed by Warner Bros., who apparently gave the label some start up money to get going. That version featured a group version of 'Testify", whereas the second pressing featured Garry Shider on lead vocals. Hope this explains thangs.
I want this video on my E3500 unit.

I, too prefer the Parliaments '67 version. I was breaking out of the "American Bandstand" sound at the time!!! Testify was a new direction for me!!!

I prefer the Parliaments version ('67). No doubt I show myself as a philistine by preferring that.

This is a different version than the one on the original album tho' isn't it? I remember hearing a female's voice on the original.

there were two different mixes of the song. the early version featured a mix emphasizing the vocals more while the next mix was more rhythm oriented

@sex6cult9revolution I was referring to the different mixes from Parliament (the funk group) rather than The Parliaments (earlier soul group).

I thought this was a female voice at first, but apparently it's not. :)
