SEALED > ALL?! who thinks ported and bandpass is better go BURB your 42 Htz more at your competitions.. Sealed is for people who care about hearing more than 1 note.. but no offense dude a bigger box wouldn't kill you. Sealed for sure but going with minimum specs means u get minimum low notes ;D.. a happy medium between smallest and largest recommended, and you can't go wrong. Sweet sub though!
@bigislandboii1 im pretty sure JL knows the dimensions of a box thats going to maximize the W7s ability, and this is that box but with 1" mdf and a 2" baffle, and ported is just for distorted bass, sealed is quality
@SlyMan50 sry but ur full of shit.. ask anybody on here that knows about sounds and they'll tell you that box is small and that w7 could be aLOT louder with a bigger PORTED box... sealed=quality hahh! fucken clown...
@bigislandboii1 im full of shit because i went by the MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS? sealed enclosures are more quality you dumbass, and if you decide you want ported, THE BOX HAS TO BE BIGGER NO MATTER WHAT MORON, NEED MORE ROOM FOR VIBRATIONS TO BOUNCE WHICH IS WHY YOU GET A LOWER HTZ, hop off my video you dumbass
@SlyMan50 no need to be any bigger its built correctly both by dimension and quality thanks for ur hot breath, never bothewred watching any of ur 21 viewed videos, nor will u find a single comment from me, hop off my videos nutrider, 24 htz hitting 139dB, doing just fine
@freddiebanger1 actually the box is about 1.75 cu in. and JL recommends 1.3, and it is also 1.5" mdf board with a 3" baffle, so thats as good as it will get lol
ur comparing a 18" to a 12" thats apples to oranges, and im sure JLs apple was orangish in that competition even still being a 12, i got my sealed 12 in my trunk with my entire door open the windshield is just non stop flexing, but hate on jl all u want, comparing 10 year old subwoofers to 2 year technology, and the 13 still outpowers 90% of everything still being made? theres a reason they are #1 in mobile audio
majority of people who hate against JL havent ever heard a 13W7, none the less properly boxed, tuned, and played. who buys audio equipment right from the manufacturer anywayz? a fool paying retail, why wouldnt u just buy it brand new somewhere else with full warranty for a fraction EI: bransmart will sell the same tv for half the price sony will. everyone always goes for the "its overpriced" excuse because it is an UNDENIABLE sense of power when u expose urself to a W7
honestly i've had JL subs and kicker and everything beat them out of the fuckin water, like JL is WAY to overpriced and don't sound nearly as good as they can BUTTT i must say the JL W7's are fucking AWESOME i heard one the other day and it blew my fuckin mind how loud it got seeing as it was only a 10
@SlyMan50 I have heard a 12 W7 and it got pretty damn loud. But once i heard a Fi BTL on the same wattage it wasnt a competition. hehe, and the seats were up in the btl ride.
Man dude, i dont understan how you're running a 1000/1 in a Sentra? No offense, but you're alternator HAS to be weaker than mine (mine is 140 amps), and i'm having all kinds of trouble trying to run a JL 1000/1 and JL 450/4 in my car. Its basically raping my electrical system.
Did you upgrade your alternator? You have extra batteries etc??
get some brackets to hold it and tha is not the specs for jl u shoulda went with ported first off lol but u need 2 dynamat man haha might not sound as loud outside with it but keeps the bass inside sounds alot bettter too
yea when i get money im first gettin a HO alternator which my car is needing more than wanting, and if im gnna do dynamat im gnna do the entire car at once not just the trunk, hood, cabin, trunk, maybe even floor, and there would be nothing to bracket it too, its fine with the jack, im a corner fien so its proven to be very good at holding that heavy asss sub ha
lol i see u shouldnt need a ho alt that bad with just a single slasher but yea i get u i mean u might as well just do the trunk first thats where most ur rattle is i only got it in the trunk and when it would hit really hi hertz the doors would vibrate too thats about it
@jguerra420 im running 1000/1, kicker 350/4, 2 caps, lc6i audio controller, along with all aftermarket speakers, my lights dim like crazy when im maxin out my shit, if i were to just let the audio run without the car running, it will kill it in 2 minutes and my i have a good battery, my stock alternator is a 80amper, recommended for what i have is at least 180 lmao, and i already have the big 3 done
@jguerra420 this is also my first video done with this setup, my trunk is whats rattling, its the plastic piece behind my rear lights and license plate that rattles against the metal trunk, i have most of it 3Med so alot of that rattle is gone, but its a powerful sub so theres not much more i can do to the rest of the rattle
this is true lol but if u were 2 add dynamat with subs like this and rip it all out one day u will see the diffrenece its shitty it just minimizes that nasty ass rattle that sounds pretty much unattractive lol but yea one more thing man go ported im tellin u ull love it
i mean it seems alot worse on a video than it does in real life, cus yea the camera is directed at the noise, but if ur like 10 feet away from my car u dont hear the rattle as much as u do the feel of the bass, but yeah i should go ported, i just gotta get some 1" mdf board which is kinda hard to find, i was thinking, if i made 4 small holes as to opposed to one larger one, would it sounds the same? like a 1:4 ratio size
cus id like to design them on the corners of the box when i make it, i want deeper bass and i know thats what i gotta do to get it, this box is about 1.7 cu. ft. 1.5" thick with a 3" baffle so it is a very solid box which deffinately improves the sound
aim the box straight back and it will be louder in the car. And get a larger ported box. Might add 10db and get those gorilla zoe lows better! Check out the vids of the box i made for my 3 subs
this is an old video see description, no need for a larger box, made to exact specifications by JL and i cant face it towards the trunk cus then id have no way of keeping it in place, a car jack keeps it where its at
before your dumbasses say ported boxes or seal boxes are better be sure you know what your talking about cuz you'll just sound dumb. slyman likes the deep toned bass sound waves which for me i like my shit loud. and with a seal box you cant put out full power cuz you wont get that low sounding bass. as for the ported box hits the higher fequenceys and are able to play your woofer to its full output. there is no better box it depends on your own style of sound you want to gain from your encloser
ported boxes are designed to control distortion by having a well balanced port a proper design of ported speaker systems are considerably more complex than those for sealed enclosures It is very easy to screw up a ported box if you just guess at the size and length of the port or the tuning frequency for the box not only will a poorly designed box sound bad, but it can easily damage the speaker if it is played hard.
wow your all fucking retarded.. it depends on what kind of sound you want to generate for your personal interest. for me my 12w7 enclosure is ported. why did i want ported? because i want to be that person who your can 3 or 4 blocks away before you actually see me. there is no "best" encloser. each box produces a different sound wether its "bandbass" ,"Ported", "Sealed" or "Isobaric" they all have different sounds. sealed boxes are designed to hit low fequencey with accurate response time
If you take a look at any super high end audio components even for households you will see that a vast majority of designs use a vented system its all in the design
yea maybe for a sealed box but get you a JL High Output Box. Itll hit those lows SOOOO much better but it is fuckin HUUGE. unless you like hearin the high notes more than lows. Thats what I have in my tahoe with a JL 1000/1 (version 1)
wow my little 12, which is the same exact thing u have in trunk, except mine hits 10x better, and i guess u dont bother looking at NEW videos, but rather videos from 6 months ago, ur not too bright
First Your little 12 in a small sealed box is not what I have, I change systems 2X a week.
Learn to keep up, Mr, Ur not too bright
Second, I had a 13w7 compared to your smaller 12. The 13 is much louder. your car was cheaply made & rattles like a tin can, & becase of that your louder? okay. Get real.
U can't even put the 12w7 in a proper box. & I saw your new vids, voltage still drops too low. & you only have 1k rms. I have close to 4K RMS, & my voltage never goes below 12.8
of course the 13 blows away the 12, its 4k watts to 2k watts, 2nd, my box is 2" mdf board and 3.5" baffle, and no im not gnna tell u how i got my box to be so thick, family secret ;], and 3rd, my voltage doesnt drop below 13, unless im cranking the AC with the headlights on and putting all the windows up at the same time haha, and im glad u have a cheap brand amount of 4k rms, no other amp compares to JL's on a 1k rms level, if they even NEEDed a bigger amp
haha okay, I have a modded JBL BPx Crown Series (the best amplifiers in the world are made by crown) 2200.1 Amp
1k RMS is 1k RMS, while the JL amp is very well made where it can do 1kw in virtually any imp load and any voltage environment. It's still 1kw.
Making a box for a 12w7 2.0" thick and 3.5" baffle is just adding extra weight. Doing 1.0" thick with bracing out of birch would have been more then sufficient.
doesnt matter how much is weighs, which by the way it does weigh alot, any way i defend my box ull still find someway to put it down, its 100% air sealed, and is a perfectly good home-made box, and it does have an internal brace, around the backpart of it, im not an idiot, i do know a thing or two kid
it would OBVIOUSLY destroy anything else and would OBVIOUSLY be in my trunk, seeing as how i dont want garbage in my trunk, thats why i have 1k rms, hope that clears that up
and u think my car rattles cause its cheap? theres a reason why i have my subwoofer facing the way it does, dont worry about y though, another secret, doesnt matter what it sounds like on the outside, what i have installed on my trunk lid makes up for it when ur IN the car
no rattle whats so ever inside the cabin, idk where u got that idea from, and yes 2.2 inches sealed, maybe 2.1- 2.3 if ur gnna b talkin shit about my box, my box is not small at all
actually its .1 less than JL has recommended, but im sure you know best right, their only the maker of the subwoofer, and im not interested in ported, just destroys ur speaker slowly
ported also loses quality, its a FACT none the less, sealed is a tighter sound with more quality, i guess to you more "sound" means more quality, but in the numbers game, thats not the case, im sorry your so dissapointed in my sound system, never heard one complaint, my goal wasnt to impress you, but instead build a great overall sound system which i have done, thank you for all your negative feedback, you have a good one, and b on the lookout for new videos and new upgrades, peace
and too bad none of those products u listed (which u probably just googled) wouldnt work, i guess kids with no audio experience (like yourself) think that if you have any rattle it will automatically be gone if you add dynamat or "damplifier pro", that was a good laugh
unseen from the trunk but dude your cables look like shit in the other videos. you got jl equipment but you understand nothing of electrical things. e.g. your voltage drops to 9 volt! gosh! that DO kill your good amp....
feel free to send me some money for a 2nd battery and alternator, what i have is not harming anything, i know nothing about it yet i know every specification of the speaker and amp, thanks for the concern though
"what i have is not harming anything" If you kept on dropping to 9volts, say bye bye to your alternator, amplifier and possibly your W7. But I'm glad you got that sorted out now.
9 volt was a video from 6 months ago? the title being "VOLTAGE BEING RAPED", hmm maybe i knew it was gnna drop that low? and it doesnt drop to 9 in the video, but rather 9.9/ 9.8, doesnt go below 13 like i said, and thats on a stock alternator, in time will b replaced with a HO 220amp, but its a recession so money moves slow
You don't need to change out your stock alternator, rather invest in 0 guage and do a big 3 upgrade, run 0 guage to the JL amp and throw out the capacitors.
That will keep you well into 13+.
But ofcourse since I'm a kid and don't know a thing you can disregard my advice and buy 5 more capacitors.
i guess ur under the impression i think capacitors add voltage or power? many i repeat MANY people add a 2nd cap to their exisiting one, not only is it SMART, its also possible, and yes my stock alternator is being raped, its an 80amp, dont need a big 3, guess u think that, all u need is ONE HO alternator, but go ahead and add as many alternators as u want, but "since i dont know anything disregard what i said"
You need to do some serious research about what exactly a capacitor is and does, or actually doesn't do.
I really hope your not serious, I've been trying to give you very helpful advice, and all you do is try to defend the lies you have been told by idiots and retards @ qualityautosound/cartoys because they just want you to buy buy buy....
Sigh.....
Please read
How big of an improvement a big 3 upgrade is, and how necessary it is regardless if you plan on upgrading alternator or not.
sorry kid ive done all of my own installation, maybe thats where you shop, you can stick to your "big 3" the way your system sounds, your just gonna scare people away from your advice
do you have any idea what the big 3 actually is and what it does?
The average car uses 8 guage, for charging wire and delivery of power from alternator to batt.
By not doing the big 3, there is virtually no difference in performance of you running anything else besides 8 guage to the rear amp. The big 3 would be upgrading all the charging wires to 0 AWG and allowing a lot more current flow. Usually helps raise voltage up by 1-1.8 volts.
you're scarring me with your advice, where do u get urs?
you think your advice is so helpful yet your system sounds like shit, do yourself a favor and just get a life kid, im sorry you think you know what your talking about, but hey, cant have intelligent people (me) without retards (you)
it doesnt help to know every specification of the speakers... i say your voltage under 11 is harming your amp. so you dont have any money to upgrade. why do you crank up the volume then?....
my w2s bump harder than this

Dynamat is crap and too expensive. It is essentially - Peal and Seal from Lowes.
Peel and Seal - Cheapest. 4 or 5 out of 10, on effectiveness.
Fat Mat Rattle Trap - Reasonably priced. 8 out of 10 effectiveness.
2nd Skin Damplifier Pro - Expensive. 10 out of 10 effectiveness.
I used 2 layers of Damplifier Pro, then another 2 or 3 layers of Rattle Trap on the areas that need it.
Trunk lid is most important. The rear quarter panels, spare tire area next. Then just keep following the rattles.

haha okay, I have a modded JBL BPx Crown Series (the best amplifiers in the world are made by crown) 2200.1 Amp
ProjectPechkin 2 years ago
doesnt matter how much is weighs, which by the way it does weigh alot, any way i defend my box ull still find someway to put it down, its 100% air sealed, and is a perfectly good home-made box, and it does have an internal brace, around the backpart of it, im not an idiot, i do know a thing or two kid
SlyMan50 2 years ago
it would OBVIOUSLY destroy anything else and would OBVIOUSLY be in my trunk, seeing as how i dont want garbage in my trunk, thats why i have 1k rms, hope that clears that up
SlyMan50 2 years ago
o and my box isnt small, its 2.2 internal cubic feet, thanks for lookin out tho kid ;]
SlyMan50 2 years ago
2.2 cubes sealed?
ProjectPechkin 2 years ago
and u think my car rattles cause its cheap? theres a reason why i have my subwoofer facing the way it does, dont worry about y though, another secret, doesnt matter what it sounds like on the outside, what i have installed on my trunk lid makes up for it when ur IN the car
SlyMan50 2 years ago
rattle = loss of spl and poor sound quality.
doesn't matter? hahaha
no matter what, trunk rattle & other rattle is heard inside the car.
ProjectPechkin 2 years ago
no rattle whats so ever inside the cabin, idk where u got that idea from, and yes 2.2 inches sealed, maybe 2.1- 2.3 if ur gnna b talkin shit about my box, my box is not small at all
SlyMan50 2 years ago
2.2 cubes net for a 12w7 sealed is far too much, you might as well do a 2.25 ported @ 34hz and get a lot more output.
ProjectPechkin 2 years ago
actually its .1 less than JL has recommended, but im sure you know best right, their only the maker of the subwoofer, and im not interested in ported, just destroys ur speaker slowly
SlyMan50 2 years ago
lol
JL Audio specifications for 12W7-3 Model
Sealed= 1.375+ Sub disp.
Ported= 1.75+ Sub disp.
Winisd Ran, optimum enclosure=
Sealed = 1.45 + sub disp
Ported = 2.10 + sub disp.
Ported enclosures when built properly never destory anything besdies ears. Ported enclosures raise efficiency.
Where the heck do you get your facts from?
ProjectPechkin 2 years ago
ported also loses quality, its a FACT none the less, sealed is a tighter sound with more quality, i guess to you more "sound" means more quality, but in the numbers game, thats not the case, im sorry your so dissapointed in my sound system, never heard one complaint, my goal wasnt to impress you, but instead build a great overall sound system which i have done, thank you for all your negative feedback, you have a good one, and b on the lookout for new videos and new upgrades, peace

btw download Trunk Bang by dorrough, tell me what you think of that bass, the constant bass note, kinda hard to explain which note in words
SlyMan50 2 years ago
and too bad none of those products u listed (which u probably just googled) wouldnt work, i guess kids with no audio experience (like yourself) think that if you have any rattle it will automatically be gone if you add dynamat or "damplifier pro", that was a good laugh
SlyMan50 2 years ago
dynamat that shit, rattles like crazy

good setup but i would clean up the shit a bit.
check my sys

my setup is unseen, urs is out in the open there buddy, might wanna clean ur shit up a bit, check my other vid, Setup2
SlyMan50 2 years ago
unseen from the trunk but dude your cables look like shit in the other videos. you got jl equipment but you understand nothing of electrical things. e.g. your voltage drops to 9 volt! gosh! that DO kill your good amp....
moddingpc 2 years ago
feel free to send me some money for a 2nd battery and alternator, what i have is not harming anything, i know nothing about it yet i know every specification of the speaker and amp, thanks for the concern though
SlyMan50 2 years ago
"what i have is not harming anything" If you kept on dropping to 9volts, say bye bye to your alternator, amplifier and possibly your W7. But I'm glad you got that sorted out now.
calvinblinkee 2 years ago
not harming anything? 9volt drop = very harmful
ProjectPechkin 2 years ago
9 volt was a video from 6 months ago? the title being "VOLTAGE BEING RAPED", hmm maybe i knew it was gnna drop that low? and it doesnt drop to 9 in the video, but rather 9.9/ 9.8, doesnt go below 13 like i said, and thats on a stock alternator, in time will b replaced with a HO 220amp, but its a recession so money moves slow
SlyMan50 2 years ago
droping into 9 = 9.0-9.9
You don't need to change out your stock alternator, rather invest in 0 guage and do a big 3 upgrade, run 0 guage to the JL amp and throw out the capacitors.
That will keep you well into 13+.
But ofcourse since I'm a kid and don't know a thing you can disregard my advice and buy 5 more capacitors.
ProjectPechkin 2 years ago
i guess ur under the impression i think capacitors add voltage or power? many i repeat MANY people add a 2nd cap to their exisiting one, not only is it SMART, its also possible, and yes my stock alternator is being raped, its an 80amp, dont need a big 3, guess u think that, all u need is ONE HO alternator, but go ahead and add as many alternators as u want, but "since i dont know anything disregard what i said"
SlyMan50 2 years ago
LOL
You need to do some serious research about what exactly a capacitor is and does, or actually doesn't do.
I really hope your not serious, I've been trying to give you very helpful advice, and all you do is try to defend the lies you have been told by idiots and retards @ qualityautosound/cartoys because they just want you to buy buy buy....
Sigh.....
Please read
How big of an improvement a big 3 upgrade is, and how necessary it is regardless if you plan on upgrading alternator or not.
ProjectPechkin 2 years ago
sorry kid ive done all of my own installation, maybe thats where you shop, you can stick to your "big 3" the way your system sounds, your just gonna scare people away from your advice
SlyMan50 2 years ago
do you have any idea what the big 3 actually is and what it does?
The average car uses 8 guage, for charging wire and delivery of power from alternator to batt.
By not doing the big 3, there is virtually no difference in performance of you running anything else besides 8 guage to the rear amp. The big 3 would be upgrading all the charging wires to 0 AWG and allowing a lot more current flow. Usually helps raise voltage up by 1-1.8 volts.
you're scarring me with your advice, where do u get urs?
ProjectPechkin 2 years ago
you think your advice is so helpful yet your system sounds like shit, do yourself a favor and just get a life kid, im sorry you think you know what your talking about, but hey, cant have intelligent people (me) without retards (you)
SlyMan50 2 years ago
and btw u clearly havent seen my new video with 2 caps where it doesnt go below 12, and my wires are all neatly organized thanks
SlyMan50 2 years ago
it doesnt help to know every specification of the speakers... i say your voltage under 11 is harming your amp. so you dont have any money to upgrade. why do you crank up the volume then?....
moddingpc 2 years ago
why bother with caps....you could have gotten a battery for the price of those 2 caps
