Gladys Knight has so muuch soul! and Etta is irreplaceable ... But Chaka was just screaming and wanted to be heard above those two.  You could tell she was nervous just being onstage with those two gigantic stars - look at her eyes as she glances sideways at Gladys while she is screaming (almost unintellligible) to see if Gladys will give her approval as well as Etta. I like Chaka - but really she was out of her league on this one. (sorry - - -)

@mula1968 uhh..first off Chaka was clearly the high belter of the trio...of course shes gonna belt/sing higher than the two...she provides contrast to an otherwise monotonous trio...they were harmonizing on some parts and Chaka was ad-libbing few notes higher than the two..and how can you assume that Chaka was seeking approval from Gladys just by glancing at her? lol...Chaka is a genius musician herself...she was high here thats why she looks unstable but she's still slammin those notes.

People you gotta remember, Chaka was a coke addict for over 20 years and Etta was a heavy drug user as well. I LOVE ALL THESE LEGENDS SO! With a career like theirs; little sleep and the personal struggles they were undergoing I can only imagine why drugs were used. Yes Chaka sobered up in the 90's (God bless her) and I believe Etta sobered up as well but these are the mama's of music. I'm sick of hearin folk raggin on these beauties! Noboby here can and will be able to do what they did and do!!

As a singer myself I too had a drug problem for a long time but am now and have been for a lil while SOBER thank the Lord. I'm 19 now and look up to women like Chaka (who I'm going to see at her at the UNFC honors next month as they honor Chaka and pay tribute to her amazing career) it's her music that keeps me going... Making it ever so easy to continue on and singing more and more everyday :)

I love this video. I like the different songs that were created through different voices. Etta James has a rough but emotional voice while Gladys Knights has a gospel/R&B song to her voice and Chaka Khan has a blues/ Rock song. They all did a good job.
