So elvis14ism - you obviously don't like the other classics that Horne and Sutherland have presented. For mine shows a lack of class in your listening. If you are in fact an Elvis fan - I take it all back Warmest to you - Graham Melb Aus
thanks so much for loading this. I had the LPs for years and always loved them. I wish this concert was on DVD. the three solo numbers they each do are terrific!
then they each do a duet followed by a few trios! Great stuff.
UN SUEÑO...ESTO ES UN SUEÑO PRECIOSO......ESTO ES LO QUE SIGNIFICA.....KEOPS ....KEFREN...Y MICERINO.....TRES PIRAMIDES ETERNAS PARA EL CANTO DEL SER HUMANO.......
Listening to this incendiary music, I just couldn't help but marvel at the genius of Maestro Verdi. As for Luciano, I love Joan Sutherland, but she and Horne and that marvelous bass were satellites around the glorious sun of Pavarotti; his control, power and beauty of expression brought tears to my eyes.
Welcome to the world of opera, its obvious that you haven't been here long. That women is Dame Joan Sutherland. Often referred to as La Stupenda, or the Voice of the Century.
Non ho capito chi avesse la piccolissima voce. Nonostante ciò, a mio personalissimo gusto preferisco quelle che lei definisce "piccolissime voci" ad altri celebrati urlatori.
Can anyone please tell me what the piece of music that starts at 2:53 is please? It's a slow waltz.Does it appear anywhere else in Il trovatore? Thanks.
Piccollissma voce.
I don't think the dress is that bad for 1981. You have to consider that back then women in their 40's and 50's were considered old, so dowdy was appropriate, not like today when women don't even reach full hotness until age 45. Just close your eyes and enjoy the glorious sound.
Let's not forget a very young Jake Gardner in the last half! If anybody's lucky enough to hear him around the country, the voice hasn't died a bit after all this time! Also, he's a pretty amazing teacher!
In 1981 they were probably Top designer dresses since that has been almost 30 years ago funny you should worry about that instead of the great singing
I'm not worried about it, just curious. Seems strange that millionaire women would choose such dowdy clothes. Of course, these two women could go on stage in rags and still be considered the greatest. I personally am a Pavarotti fan.
The suprano voice holds no magic for me.
Pavarotti got me interested in opera, I heard him sing once and I was lost. I only listen/watch supranos when he is singing with them. :-)
Again this was 1981!!!!!! And the fashion back then was pretty high you are trying to compair todays fashion with yesterday. I know what you are saying there are some fasion from the 80's that I do remember and think My GAWD! But there was some that was good. I dont think Hornes is all that bad look at her's in recital with Price
Wonderful. Thank you so much for letting us see this amazing performance.... I feel bad for even saying this but one small complaint is that I would have loved a few more seconds at the end to anjoy the applause and see the singers' reactions. Too often YouTube giuves us great performances which end abruptly just as the applause sets in. But hey that's only a minor criticism though. Thanks again for sharing! :)

@modo03 Yes, it's the "ai nostri monti" that Azucena and Manrico had sung as a duet earlier in Act 4, before Leonora arrived in the cell.
