sr engines are ok but you can put an awful amount in them and they still arent fast. rb series are built differently. 25's to me are a little overrated but they can still go.
The motor mount work makes it not worth it IMO, Unless you are really serious about it. KA are money pits though. Go ahead and turbo it see how long it lasts. SR comes with forged internals, and can take a heluva lot more punishment than the KA can. If your gonna end up doing custom work (ie RB Swap) then fuck it go VQ30. No replacement for displacement.
very true. i am the recent proud owner of an s13 coupe w ka24de. i was all about just keeping the k until i found out about its biggest downfall, its balance in design. harmonics are said to be the biggest issue, causing even the most balanced of k's to destroy themselves. great for a mild 200hp build, will last a long time, and thats where im going to leave mine. im planing on s13 sr20det, b/c it seems to be trhe most well rounded option. rbs/vgs are too heavy.

i have a stock rb26 in my 240sx and i beat modded 06' sti with full turbo back exhaust and tune about 50hp higher then stock the sti runs 12.7's and i run mid to low 12's with my rb26 240
That was the most garbage take off that I've seen from a WRX. I own both a 240sx Turbo and a Stage 2 WRX 285HP. and the WRX is suppose to take off way faster than that.
The 240 has like half the wieght of an STI. a good stage 3 kit would give the 240 about the same horsepower... but with all the torque going to the rear wheels through a simpler transmission.

dude...I paid $1000 for everything for my 240sx
it was soo cheap because it has over 200,000 miles and about $300 damages...but I can get an engine rebuild kit online for only $340!!!

time and money, and by the time you've sunk a shit load of both into one your still wayyyy under the price tag of an STI. Anyone with some money can just buy an STI and kick ass on the streets, especially those who cannot drive for shit, the 4wd takes care of that. I'll bet an sti owner couldn't launch even a ford focus, let alone an sr swapped 240.. anyone who can actually drive and buys a wrx ends up using it for rally driving.

89 and 90 stock 240s come with the ka24e and 91-94 come with the dual cams.
try and find a 180sx, or a 240 with a sr swap.
i mean i love my KA but boost is boost.

i have a 93 with a rb25det in it and all i got to say is that rbs are the best and i dont know about the rest but i feel like sr20det are a kind of played out a bit unless its coming out of a s15.i mean i rather drive my 95 240sx with a ka24det then with one with a sr20det but then a again its me feel free to quote me about it.

Rb24DET - Built using the following: RB20DET block, RB26DETT crank/pistons/rods, 82mm pistons. Although it's more expensive to build than just swapping in a RB25DET , the RB24DET is much stronger and potent in it's final form.

i have a stock rb26 in my 240sx and i beat modded 06' sti with full turbo back exhaust and tune about 50hp higher then stock the sti runs 12.7's and i run mid to low 12's with my rb26 240

The 240 has like half the wieght of an STI. a good stage 3 kit would give the 240 about the same horsepower... but with all the torque going to the rear wheels through a simpler transmission.

yes, but the reason many people run an aftermarket blow off valve is for the sound, so most people do not recirculate it to get the trademark atmospheric bov sound...i'm just saying they yield no benefits on a wrx, and the way that guy has it (not recirculated), he is hurting the life of his engine
