from a city slicker it must mean something when I say this guy can make The Harlem Globe Trotters love country music. What a talented artist. Dearly missed.
Im only 38 but jeesus Christ this was music. the bullshit they have now just is a different style and I feel like I am my old man saying "Boy, you youngens dont know what good music really is!"
George Jones, Vern Goslin, Conway Twitty. Amazing legends. Vern keeps it realistic and thats why his music hits people so hard. I cried when I heard about his death. Im man enough to say it. Im only 20 years old but I grew up listening to this music with my father and it never left me. Best music. Amen and god bless you Vern.
.If anyone has the album, You've Got Somebody that came out in 1979 can you please post some songs from it. Some were "You've Got Somebody, I've Got Somebody", "Til I'm Over Getting Over You", "I Took It Like A Man, Cried Like A Baby." Thanks for posting.
Vern Gasdin , was good .. He's like Elvis He will always be good To bad we don't have many singers like that any more....If you get Achance listen to Beaneth Still Waters ..Ronda Vincent she good to . Also Smothing Between ...Leona Williams and her Son Ron ...this was country Music C>A> Country Music fan
I know why they call him the voice. My husband has all his songs, and he loves to play them when we drive. I love them, but just his voice is so sad. I just want to break down and cry after so many. LOVE HIM THOUGH!!!!!
ATTENTION VG FANS: there are so many excellent live recordings of the late Vern Gosdin that were filmed for various television programs. We need to find and encourage a record label to release these historic recordings. These would make perfect live albums. It's unfair that Michael Jackson has dozens of official and unofficial live recordings, yet Vern is overlooked because his music is country.
I know what he''s talking about........thank God that people learn to live with what life has dealt them............thank you for this post........love this guy so much........
R.I.P. Vern. YouTube will always keep your memory & talent alive & going just like many other classics whom have passed.
The dear Patsy Cline passed the year I was born (1963) in November, I think? & I used to Love her music & have many CDs! :-) Same with Keith Whitley, Vern Gosdin, etc, etc :-)
@cookiesaremyfriendz your right after George Jones it's Vern..........love his singing so much.........God I'm so sad when I think he's gone. thank God we can still go and hear George singing in concert I saw G.Jones at leat four times he 's my one and only singer and then of course it's Vern
We watched one of his shows and he said they were leaving one of their overnight stops and when he went out in the hall their suitcases were sitting there and this song was based on that. There's some good singers out there but this dude is the best.
Their are some singers out there that can do songs like this but they can't get radio time because they(the radio stations) cater to the young people because they spend more on music.Todays country is our pop.
If you think this song sounds good on your computer, you should hear it on an old jukebox from the period, he'll bring tears to your eyes, he just has that way about him donit' !!!
This is what country music are supposed to be sound like...the old classic fashion style. Where you sit at the bar all fucked up but happy because you are singing along with everyone to the tune of the Highway 101, Kathy Mattea, Keith Whitley..etc. coming from the Jukebox. Not some bullshit of todays artists that sounds like a French yankees running around with a smoking cigar up their asses.
this was a great time for country music. people like Vern, George, Clint,Mark, and RVS. too damn bad Nashville has forgotten the unsung heros who paved the way for atist like Kenny, and Taylor. their musics ok, but not great. this is good shit right here. true heart, and soul.
To ODDFELLOWS67--AMEN!

@madkisser915 Keith Whitley is a country legend, but Kathy Mattea and Highway 101? Forgettable. Neither is "classic."
