This guitar is in standard tuning, but that is a short cut capo. Some call it a partial capo. In this piece it is on the 4th fret, and it stops strings 3, 4, & 5, leaving the other strings open to ring at standard length. It allows me to simulate tuning my guitar to a chord. I play standard chords above the capo, and in some cases, modified chords below it (as I have done here).
