I was wondering, does the child need to be fairly young in order for this to work? Or can they be any age?

@blackstarzero Thanks for your comment. Excellent point. Tantrums or meltdowns can definitely be manifestations of pain, overwhelming confusion, etc. and not be manipulative in nature.
