I gotta tell you something in Us mma rules are regulated so much it takes the fighters of what its meant to be a fighter Nevada State Athletic Commission rules stated. No one has been seriously injured in Japanese MMA is tough, despite the lack of regulation. Fighters are not pansies, they are tough guys, much tougher then the average person. Give them some credit. They can take punishment and they can fight shortly after KOs. It's their choice.
i kind of agree, i mean i like the kicking and stoming poeple when their on the ground but i agree with the no strikes to the back of the head and spine.
What difference is a downward leg chop to a downed opponents stomach than a stomp?... same effect isnt it?... youd think it would be even worse with the butt of the heal coming down... but its allowed... oh the irony.
oh btw, herb dean is a great ref... is that a rolex he wears on his arm?
yeah dude i wish it was like ufc i watched it on ppv since #1 and it used to be sooo much better and entertaining. I loved guys getting the shit beat outt them and now they stop the fights too soon too.
I agree. last time is saw something like that was a fight with houston alexander. he went down from a punch with a couple of seconds in the first round but kept his head and hands up from what i remember and the fight was still stopped immediately. as time goes on it's almost like theres no such thing as a real knockout anymore.
What you talking about?course mma is like many martial arts, its a mix of everything, stand up-muay tai/karate/taekwondo......groundwork-bjj-judo......takedowns-wresteling and judo.! mma is the best its awesome, i box and go muay tai gym once a week
striking with a downward elbow, or to the back of the head/spine would be really useful when someone shoots in... thats an advantage for grapplers... no fair!
you can always try the knee when they're shooting in - since they're not technically on the ground yet (or am i wrong? not sure about exact rules there).
Eat shit and die mother fucker, i was replying to bloodzsjc would said that MMA was fake and TNA was better, i'm a heavy weight MMA fighter mate, dont preach to the fucking choir.
ok what the heck are some of you iggnorant soles talking about? mma is going main stream??? uh hasn't it been for the last couple years??? uh yes lol wow and noruego wannabes? far as i see it if you do fight which with that post i hope you do, that's what we once were, haha i mean i know i didn't walk into my gym with the skill and the technique i have now i had a boxing, street brawling, and karate background but i was by no way an mma star i was a wannabe and now i'm on my way to the top
Hmm I never knew the rules before, but knowing it brings up an interesting point; people with weak ground game often gets owned, but in a real fight, if elbowing down to the head is allowded, would you say that goin in for a take down is a lot more dangerous? So the rules gives specializing in striking a disadvantage?

I don't know if he was asking why one or the other. According to Chuck Norris, there isn't supposed to be ropes or a cage, rather the rings for mano-mano fights in Asia way back then, had the same set up he has for World Combat League. A center with raised circular ends. Makes sense.
stomps and soccker kicks will never be allowed in american mma. i think with a little work we could bring in knees on the ground, but stomps and soccer kicks are always going to be seen as too brutal to be allowed in sanctioned bouts.
uh.... what? Muay Thai is a discipline of MMA... just as there are some excellent Muay Thai fighters in MMA there is also plenty of Muay Thai fighters that have gotten their asses kicked in MMA...
How come the man on defense can't grab the fence or the ropes? The man on offense is using the fence to his advantage, that should be equaled out by the man on defense being allowed to use it to his advantage.
It's also a safety issue. The guy grabbing the fence might get his fingers messed up if they get caught and left behind. Could be very nasty. What the referee should have told us is that you can place your hand and push off the fence, just not grab it.
Yeah, and while we're at it, bring back senator McCain calling to ban it so the sport fails and nobody can watch it, and no fighter can make money in it. Brilliant idea, genius.
Knees aren't cheap - they're pretty essential. Soccer kicks and stomps are awesome, but I agree that they don't have much place in a professional combat sport.
Great video and fights.

Calling this thing "Martial Arts" with so many rules is quite a paradox...
It's another ring sport like boxing, wrestling (real wrestling, not the WWE circus),Taekwondo and Muay Thai...
Nemesis5215 3 years ago
HAHA, your calling Muay Thai a sport???
lordaradon 3 years ago
A tough one, but it's still a sport.
The real thing is Muay Boran.
In Muay Thai they have rules, protective gloves and weight classes - classic definitions of sports.
And, as brutal as it may look ,some of the real brutal and deadly tecniques of Muay Boran are not practiced in Muay Thai.

Why inna fenced cage? Seems over dramatic.
witchman1 3 years ago
when you are wrestling up against the sides of a ring limbs and stuff can get stuck in the ropes, thats why the cage is more handy ^^

With no rules you will get "Rio heroes" no network in the US would air that.
