  • Interesting. What was that cult shrine? The image is fairly small.

  • @NotSoOldHippy I think it's brigid, as the marian cult follows in her footsteps. The funny story about that grotto is, that it was built by a protestant for the catholics. Down in the valley is a holy well and I know that on brigid's day, a clump of intertwinned hawethorn, holly and oak (all pagan and ancient) gets decorated with gifts, ribbons and offerings. All is not what it seems in this ancient pagan land. the churches answer was to turn brigid into a saint.

  • How I envy you.....

I live next to the London City Airport - 500 yards as the crow flies - and it's bloody awful.

Seems so serene there - except when Chris tears up the road!

Best wishes to you and yours - and to Chris and good lady.

    Les (East Ham).

  • @lelboy I used to live in Bromley street , near the East End Mission on Commercial Road. in the 80's. I'd take the kids down to Victoria park along the canal to avoid the traffic fumes, it was in the day when they were building Canary Warf and it was the busiest road in Europe.

  • very nice i know the place well.

  • nice walk 8‹D

  • @Elaina43 I'm really lucky to live in such a beautiful, natural and unspoiled area.

  • Thanks for the tour.
