I think the benefits of consuming cannabis in one's diet from childhood would reduce the cancers in our nation. Being classified as a drug has kept it out of our diet and medical treatments long enough. Texas should lead the way for medical use and should replace the cotton fields with hemp and show America how renewable fuel from HEMP can save the farmers and the environment. Come on Texans.. demand this be considered!!!

The cannabis plant should be part of the diet, there are strains that do not alter the mental state and we want it to alter our physical state for the better. Cannabis for food is a whole different thing than any other use of the plant. I have found caffeine withdrawal pretty bad. When I have stopped smoking in the past nicotine was the worst. No withdrawal at all from cannabis.

Marijuana has medical purposes it is medicine.  It does not cause cancer or brain damage and a higher risk of heart attack is a side effect of smoke inhalation not the drug. MMJ can be used in smoke-free preperations such as foods, teas, tinctures or inhaled through a vaporizor.
