In fact the only amendment signed by Lincoln prohibited any action by the federal government to restrict or end slavery in the states, and specifically stated that slavery was a right of the state
If Lincoln had NOT "infringed" on some rights -- particularly in Maryland at the outset of the war -- the US would have just melted away. Slavery would have spread to most of the Continental US - -just as Davis and Stephens said it would anyway.
Lincoln made the right choice. Push back against fucking evil.
As for the evils of strong central government -- dumb fuck - South was all for strong central government when it was for spreading slavery idiot.

So the South loses an election and throws another one of its fits - only this time it fires on US soldiers.
When in fucking history of the fucking earth has a government - duly elected -- just folded up shop and took orders from violent punks who happened to have lost the election?
