@giftedkidrules The bullet has a farther distance of travel through the barrel giving more time for the powder to burn before the bullet exits the muzzle. This fraction of a second contributes to the acceleration of the bullet resulting in a higher velocity. A longer barrel will make the same bullet faster.

By adding length to the barrel, the burning gasses of the ignited and expanding gunpowder stay behind the bullet longer and increase its muzzle velocity, a clean air filter on an auto allows more air to enter the combustion chambers, I realy don't understand what the hell your corelaton is but whatever, I just think the extra mechanics of reveres extracting a round from the magazine to gain length is dumb

@420bailey Not necessarily. The .45 is definitely NOT a death ray. Shot placement is still very important. I'm not saying a 9mm is better than a .45 ACP or that a .45 is better than a 9mm, but it is a common misconception that a .45 has more energy than a 9mm. Depending on the load, they can be very similar, but they use slightly different concepts. The .45 is extremely slow compared to the 9mm, which does have some advantages, but so does the speed and light recoil of the 9mm.

@ma0ma0ma0 ....actually NO ! Usually the barrel of the pistol is in the front of the bullets which are fed into it. The bullets are pushed into the barrel which causes shorter path of the bullet to travel-approximately for the lenght of the cartrige.

This system is designed to grab the cartrige below the barrel and feed it into the barrel from the very beginning of it thusly increasing the effective lenght of the bullet path....

@giliganfan The title IS misleading, but basically the design allows for a longer barrel in a compact package by pulling the cartridge back, once the slide is pulled or pushed back, into the slide before pushing the round into the chamber unlike conventional semi-automatics which simply push the bullet forward once the slide is pulled back and released; I do not know about the reliability of this system which may be why it, at least to my knowledge, is still currently in the development stages.
